Save your money. Just use "iforgotmypassword" for all your devices. I do ;) Or just use your spouse for back up. Use, "youidiot!". Honey, I forgot my password again. Just use the usual response phrase.

That is a very pricey service. I am glad to see it being offered to the public. I am sure some will need to make use of the company. I hope that government hacks don't get in the way of this, and drown the capitalist idea and process in red tape, because they (the government hacks) see it as being in the way of their political agenda.

I suspect DriveSavers is exploiting the hardware; not like GrayKey and much more difficult to patch with software.
Perhaps they have a method of grabbing things before/after Secure Enclave as the the device is writing to NAND.

Digital privacy is an illusion. We will soon have a social credit score like in China, as well as our financial credit score. Digital information is only safe if no one wants it, it is not safe because it is on an Apple device.

Welcome to our dystopian world. What is your social social score? Our social media companies have enough data to calculate one for you.

We came close. All that ended on November 8, 2016.

It would be nice if the Android and Mac oriented websites got together and tested their claims with various models, various OS versions, and shared the data (since it would be expensive for one site go it alone). My initial gut reaction is this may work only with specific parameters, but it would be nice to see real data.

Wait, you mean that machine wasn't an iPhone breeding device?

Time to pay iPhone support cant diened them now ahahah

And what ****** would that be? Allowing people to keep their private info private?

If I wanted my family to have what was in my phone after I’m dead, I’d give them the password. Otherwise it’s nobody’s damn business what I have on there.

Nobody but Apple eh?

If your loved one dies, and their phone is locked... and you don't know the passcode - can't you present the 'legal' paperwork to apple and get the iCloud back-up of whatever was backed up on the phone? So this is for people who have a loved one who died who didn't use iCloud back-up I guess? Seems like a great device for folks who steal iPhones and want to get info. BUT, just knowing this from can do it means, obviously, it can be done, so yeah. I agree with above, complete digital security and privacy is an illusion. Doesn't mean we shouldn't try and create it or try to work towards it, but by it's very nature it's endlessly able to be compromised.

After which they'll come up with a new exploit. We're at iOS 12 and they're still able to get into our phones. Not very comforting.
Given time and money any digital device will be crackable at some point in some way. It's the nature of the technology at this point. Just like anyone can get swab and get a copy of your DNA.

Like that's a deterrent, enter the undercover cop

Now that's an undercover cop movie no one would watch. Police chief: We want you to undercover. Broken-by-life-yet-righteous-hero-cop: Sure, who do I have to take down. Police chief: We want you to get this phone unlocked. Not that much of a thriller.

I think it’s this too. They probably open up the phone and know how to do something to the circuitry that stops the wipe aspect. Maybe if they control the power level to the chip it does something unusual.
