Wow, I didn't realize Motorola has brought back the RAZR mark; next thing we know, we'll have Droid SLVR, Droid ROKR, etc. (remember how junk those were?)…

I'd get the iPhone 4S, well that's my choice anyways. My other choice would be to wait for the Nokia Windows Phone 7 offering (which I will buy).

Funny watching people comment on the RAZR battery. Guess not many people here seem to own an iP4s or read many forums, since the iP4s battery life is atrocious.

The simple thing to do OP, is to simply try both for a couple of days. You have 30 days in which you can return the phones, so just use it. Get iPhone, then return it, then get RAZR, if you like it, keep it, if you don't, swap back to iP4s. Simple.

More importantly, never rely on people on a random forum to tell you what to do.

Since you are buying based on specs, you should buy a desktop computer instead...much better specs than any crappy old phone.

Exactly

Select the phone OS you want and then the hardware. What you're doing is a waste of time selecting by hardware.

Man, HTC Rezound (aka Vigor) is heading to Verizon too. That makes it three Androids arriving on Nov 10th and two with screen resolution at 720p. And if you don't want Android, iPhone 4S and the high-end BlackBerry is still there.

For me personally, I'd go Galaxy Nexus. Since Samsung has the GPU optimization, it seems to "lag" the least if at all. But HTC and Moto have better build quality it seems. KEVLAR, Gorilla Glass, & splash resistant coating make the latest RAZR one of the most durable phones.

I say go for the Droid RAZR if you wait another year for the next iPhone. Why? LTE and bigger screen. Next year's iPhone will probably feature that and Apple will likely toot their horn with it. And the Droid RAZR looks to have stronger materials used. As much as I like the iPhone's design, it really doesn't comfortable or practical to have two slabs of glass with no bezel to protect it and no rounded edges to protect from digging into your palm. What holds the reincarnated RAZR line back is probably Android and unstable nature, but it looks to get ICS early next year. Considering you will be stuck on a two-year plan with Verizon, "future proof" your next phone now with LTE and a bigger screen. Doesn't make sense with another iPhone when the next iPhone will make 4S look dated in a year.

If you're going to go with Android I would get the Galaxy Nexus. It'll be pure Google and you won't have to worry about updates. Also you'll have ice cream sandwich right out of the box. Nexus phones tend to perform better because the phone and software are better optimized to work together. Also you don't have to worry about manufacturer overlay or carrier bloat slowing down the phone.

Is that not allowed?

Thats like going to a yankees forum and asking if you should be a red sox fan or a yankees fan or going to a chevy forum asking if you should buy a camaro or a mustang...etc. you get the idea. people with iphones are going to tell you to get the iphone and people with the droid will tell you to get the droid. All the answers here will only make your decision harder. Go to the store and play with both and make your decision.

I've had 4 Android phones, and let me tell you this...

Don't. Buy. Anything. But. A. Nexus. Device.

Seriously, most Android phones are like a trap. They don't care about you, your problems, or giving you software updates.

Custom ROMs get old fast, and when you fix problem A you cause problem B. 4S or Galaxy Nexus is the way to go. I'm telling you this because I don't want you to experience what I did

This. If you are seriously considering an Android device, don't buy anything but a Nexus. I bought an HTC Thunderbolt back in March on Verizon. It STILL hasn't even been upgraded to Gingerbread!

I just switched over from the motorola droid to an iphone 4s and right now I would never go back to Android. The iphone just works seamlessly between my mac, which is a huge plus. Also, I was tired of waiting for updates to come to my phone... especially when motorola was releasing them on their other newer releases. Basically the fragmentation was annoying to me. Yeah, Yeah i know Siri isn't on older iphones, but everything else is. Now this is obviously strongly bias of me because I was using the original Moto Droid which was showing its age. It would take literally 10 seconds for my icons to show up after pressing the home button. Also, it would refuse to make calls when pressing the call button and then randomly start calling that person 20 seconds later. And I barely had any apps on it, constantly used task killer, and rebooted it regularly. Huge difference from that to the iphone 4s.

This is actually not true for Verizon anymore. The return policy has been cut to 14 days. Still a decent amount of time to try a device, but not nearly as easy to get a good feel for a brand new operating system / phone.

I've been waffling on this for a week and I'm starting to think I should grab the 4S first. If I end up hating it after a month or two, it's going to be a lot easier to sell for full price online than a two-month old RAZR (just due to the sheer volume of Android devices on the market). Then I snag a RAZR after the price drops if that's what I decide to do.

...Or grab a WP7 device if VZW finally starts picking up the good ones.

I have to decide between the RAZR and iPhone 4S for work. I like the idea of 4G and the bigger screen with my eyes getting older. But I am a Apple fan and have a clock radio for my iPod Touch that an iPhone could use plue I already have a few apps.

Guess I better go to a store and see what the difference in the screen size actually looks like.

I bought the iPhone 4S because AT&T's android phones suck. If I had my own plan, I would have switch to Verizon for the DROID RAZR. That being said, it is really nice having one device to rule them all, but I think eventually I will have to give up iTunes and use Android for music and podcasts as well. If you don't have a lot of stuff in iTunes to begin with, the choice is pretty obvious: DROID RAZR. If you're a big iTunes user, it gets harder. It also depends on if your area has 4G LTE, and if you go to events or places where the 3G is super congested.

If you're on your own plan, I'd say either switch to AT&T and get the 4S or stick with Verizon and DROID RAZR.

I had the HTC Incredible on Verizon. I was able to upgrade and I researched and went back and forth on the 4s and Razr. I love Android and I love iOS. There are some things that I can do on Android faster than I can on iOS. I even have the LTE network in my area. I wanted to spread my love across both platforms. So, I went with the 4s. At the end of my contract, I will revisit and see what I like more.

Android= 5 speed Corvette.
iOS= Automatic Corvette.

5 speed is more fun to drive. However, every now and then, I like to have my hand on my wife's thigh without having to worry about switching gears. Make sense?

AS much as I love the iPhone, I have heard during the keynote introducing the new RAZR and from a friend who bought one that the battery is better than the iPhone.

The battery may be a advantage to RAZR.

I would never consider the RAZR for the following reasons:

1. Motorola software/firmware + locked bootloaders

2. Pentile screen (pixelation)

3. non-removable battery

If I were to get an Android phone, it would be the Galaxy Nexus. ICS + 720p HD super AMOLED screen (although pentile, looks better than RAZR, Rezound and SGSII screens).

You have to look at the RAZR like all the previous Moto phones released this past year (DX2, Bionic): after a couple of months, they are already ancient history.

Wish I had an iphone 4s to compare to.

It really shouldn't.

Stop comparing specs and try comparing usage. I hated my android experience for two years. It was buggy and **** crashed all the time. The specs of my phone was better than the 3GS but it takes longer than 20 seconds at times to load a webpage on 3G.

I find it funny how my dad picked up a 3GS not too long ago and considered it an upgrade from his Droid.

Specs aren't everything. The general feeling is that as google keeps on updating their OS, android phones get left behind. A ton of phones are still on 2.2, 2.3, 2.3.1. Apple on the other hand, updated the 3GS with ios5. A phone that came out in 2009. Need I say more?

You must have an old Corvette, they haven't had 5 speeds since the early 80's. :p

After seeing The Verge's video review, go with the Galaxy Nexus. Get a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich. The best Androids really do come from the Nexus line. The best Google experience in the "Galaxy."

Too bad Samsung loves plastic though. Hopefully by next year, Google will have nepotism and choose Motorola to produce the next Nexus. The Nexus RAZR or Nexus 4. Moto uses better materials and were like the Mercedes Benz for phone design at some point. By then, we will have quad core and Android will be improved even better with Jelly Bean.

Get the Razr. Then in 6 weeks, get the next greatest phone with .001% better specs that runs Soft Serve Poodle. 6 weeks after that, do it again.

Or get an iPhone and enjoy it for a year or two.

LOL. So true. The rate race is annoying. It's amazing to me how the 3GS is still supported software update wise, while there are Android phones out there being sold that will be staying with the Froyo and never seeing GB.
