The USA usally gets noisy around 2-4pm central time. I'll probably be checking out my status page every 15 mins today. Unfortunately at work I can't check my personal email.
My Dual 2.5 GHz G5 arrived on 8/12, and yet I'm still stuck to this thread, watching and waiting with everyone still lacking their new G5s... It's odd, but true. I check this board nearly as often as I did when I was waiting.
Let me tell you all that it is REALLY worth it. My old machine was a Dual 1.0 GHz "MDD" G4 (1.5GB RAM, Radeon 9000 Pro), which is no slouch. But the Dual 2.5 GHz G5 (2.0GB RAM, Radeon 9800XT) really blows it away. The biggest difference for me is games (I could barely play UT2004 before and C&C:Generals was slow; now I play both at 1600x1200 with all settings maxed and they're silky smooth). I see a very noticeable difference even in little things like MUCH faster boot times, MUCH faster application launch times, MUCH faster execution of web stuff like Java/Flash/etc., and even MUCH faster e-mail checks.
As painful as it is now, let me assure you all that it is worth the wait! And even though I'm lucky enough to have my G5 (remember that I placed my order on 6/9 at 6:36AM PST), I'm still here with you all!

updates for Mac Mall orders for DP2.5?
The letter sent to me by Mac Mall a couple of weeks ago estimated a ship date of August 9 after slipping from July 30 for a June 28 order (had to watch the Keynote before orderding <grin>). Last time I spoke with Mac Mall they said 8/20. Has anyone been sent a DP2.5 from Mac Mall or been given a different ship date? I saw the post about only 50 units coming in now (instead of 200?). Thx!

Hey guys...got some ADC news for us.
I just called ADC number, and got someone who seemed pretty candid about the whole thing. Some quotes about the whole thing:
"Lots of bad news surrounding these G5's."
"It's the 6800 card causing the delay."
"We're in the process of putting together an email to send out to the ADC channel with ... <insert 9600XT+G5 by Sept 3, 6800 by Sept 17th email here>"
"It hasn't gone out because we're still trying to figure out what dates we can offer.." (In reference to the above quote).
When asked if it would be free to get the G5 now, 6800 kit later, he stated:
"I can't see how there would be a cost associated with this, but none of this is final yet.."
He said the email should go out to ADC people later today.

EQ, is your machine coming with the 6800 card ???? If not that is real bad news for those that orderd from resellers .. mine is stuck with a mom & pops reseller ... what hope do I have of getting it before xmas ... what sucks is I would cancel and order from Apple Online but I am getting the old 23" monitor with the $500 rebate so I am locked in ... also Apple have all my money .. starting to get very ancy here.

According to him no one has received a 2.5DP from CDW. He could be wrong, but that's what he said. He also told me that they are still on target for August 31st.
My guess is that they won't get them all in by that date and it's only for stock orders. I feel pretty good about that date considering I am #40 out of 330. Still, nothing's certain until I actually have the computer sitting quietly under my desk.

I got a verbal confirmation last night that the machine was going to be shipped within 12-24 hrs. I never got a confirmation email nor did my Status change.
5 minutes ago, my friend calls me and tells me that he got a notice from FEDEX that they tried to ship today but he wasnt home (I shipped to my buddy in delaware to save $400 in tax).
So It shipped, they never notified me, and now the delivery is missed. They are going to deliver it tomorrow morning. So I'll be driving down to DE tomorrow to get THE PRECIOUS

They wanted prepayment so I could get the rebate .. Now wondering whose smarter ... me for thinking I would get a rebate or apple having my money ...
