yeah but it doesn't look good for July orders if June ppl have started getting the delay letters already. i could see a shipping notice posted late, but you think they'd be cruel enuff to string me along 'till midnight just to let me know i have another month to wait? heh it's quite likely, i suppose. anyway, i'm not optimistic, unless i somehow miraculously become one of these lucky "line-jumpers". we'll see. i won't be able to check until tomorrow, as i'm off to a wedding and have no internet where i'm staying. alcohol will have to suffice... good luck to everyone waiting tonight, i hope you all do well. i've been a lurker, and you've provided much-needed entertainment and diversion over the last couple weeks. i imagine a bunch of us will still be here next week, but let's all pretend (for the afternoon anyway) that today's our last day of pathetic forum-page refreshing!

Logged into Apple.com to find my order says "Partially Shipped".
Called Apple, and they say the machine has been shipped from Cork, to Holland, and it will be with me next week.
The sad thing is, after all this mess, I don't beleive them. I dont want to get excited in case I let myself in for a massive letdown again.
But safe to say, I hope what I was told is correct!!!

Well, called Apple. Got nowhere, as usual. First guy I talked to didn't have a CLUE. He transferred me to a second lady who was very nice and just said that she can see my computer is in the process of being built but some component is holding it up. Only non-stock options are BT and 250 GB HD. I asked if she could see when my status changed to "built" and she said no, so I have no idea if its been waiting there for awhile or just a day or two or what. She just said it could ship anytime, sorry for the third delay now, blah blah. Gah, so frustrating....thanks for listening.

I'm not sure what your hold up is. I can understand mine because of the 6800 but you have the more standard 9800. Maybe is it something besides the graphics card? Like shortage of chips.
Well My G5 has officially shipped. Left Aneheim CA late last nite and just departed Rialto CA around 7 am and is now on its travel accross the country. Hopefully they can re-route my computer to my school which would make things so much simpler, as it would save me so much money.

Well guys, last night at 11pm, I went to bed and my order status said "shipped" but there was no info. This morning, I got an e-mail from 1:14am saying:
Dear Apple Customer,
The following products shipped on 08/19/2004. Transit time will
depend upon whether you have chosen standard or premium freight
options. If your order is shipping standard freight, it should arrive
within 10 days of shipment.
Can't track the FedEx number yet...it says it has not been scanned as of 8:44 this morning. I did not pay extra so it has shipped FedEx Ground. Ah, hindsight!
Now I'll be hitting the FedEx site every 15 minutes instead of the Apple Order Status.

STATS: 8-20 Morning Edition
Nothing boring about this morning! Here's the spreadsheet
3 European orders with new shipping info 2 of them with tracking orders.
The very first 8-20 USA tracking # just arrived. Congrats fellows!!
There are still 9 non-USA orders sched for 20/8 that have not been shipped hopefully we'll hear from them today with good news.
USA is pretty quiet so far. However if you're an ADC order and you have "dog" in your name........Apple is "putting you out in the yard". There have been 2 ADC orders that have slipped even further....one of them an 8-20 order.
I keep waiting for the red part of the "shipping pie" on the spreadsheet to get significantly below 50 orders. But even with all the shipping announcements, orders for 8-20 keep coming out of the woodwork and adding them is keeping the red part of the pie hovering around 50...(thanks a lot lurkers...smothering our possible hope...and my stats... with yet more unshipped 8-20 orders...just kidding ).
FIFTY unshipped Aug 20 orders..... one single day of hope.
Though the looming shadow casts long across us at the close of our solitary journeys..... we come here together once again to stand...and watch as one.
(will somebody please slap me out of this melodrama....ha ha)
Though the day is young, the battle will be long for Apple today, and we have a LOOONG way to go to see this through.

Thanks for that guys - I bought a Belkin 1200VA - unfortunately, I had to buy mine in the UK, and there wasnt any offer - even so, at the normal US price, it still costs nearly twice as much in the UK! :/ - ah well - still cheaper, and less hassle to use (proper plug sockets on a Belkin) than an APC.

waiting for a 1.8, should I just get a 2.5?
the dual 1.8's are out of stock everywhere i've lookd. i can get a 2.5, but really only need the 1.8 (don't need a ton of ram or pci-x). since i kinda need to get a new mac now, should i just bite the bullet and spend the extra $$$ on a 2.5 and be happy with the faster mac, or is the speed bump not all that it's cracked up to be?
