Well i mean its still possible isnt it? Its still glass underneath just because you cant click it anymore.

The home button glass is not clear, so its no see-thru, therefore you can not se any dust under it. Even if it was possible for dust to get in.

Seeing dust under non see through glass.

Is this an example of a dust particle gone too far?

So the bezel, where the home button is, isn't clear. Leaves only two possibilities. Floaters in eye, i.e. Dust in in eye of the beholder. Or new "gate".......liargate.

Not only that, the phone is rated to the highest dust resistant of IP6. So there is no way dust is getting in to a place it can't get into in the first place!

Yeah but doesn't that trap the dust Apple puts inside their phones as well......think about it.

China dust.....everyone gets a little bit of China with every iPhone.
I'm still not sure whether this entire discussion is a result of folks not thinking about it or thinking about it too much.

"China dust" sounds dirty....

I get tiny hairs caught between the home button rim and the home button itself on my iPhone 7 Plus. For something that's not a button, it still has cracks between the main glass, the rim and the round button.

You sure thats not just the ring? The ring is separate. You can see the edge of the ring around the button.

Alias?
[doublepost=1477668054][/doublepost]Dust under home button......really.......talk about digging for an issue. Have you checked the heads of your pentalope screws to confirm they match each other identically. I can't see under my home button, obstructed by my fingerprint on its surface. I'm gonna run out and buy a jewler's loop so I can get a closer look. Hang on I be right back.........

I have owned a dozen iPhones and have never had the inclination to look so closely at my home button to find a flaw. Would this even be a flaw? Let's assume there is dust under the home button. SO WHAT? How does that effect it's function? It's meant for pushing, not viewing.
[doublepost=1477668876][/doublepost]
how is it an issue?
It's does not affect the phone

Some have noticed dust under the camera lens... By the way, was not iPhone 7 supposed to be resistant to both water and dust ?..........

I thought it was sapphire? or have they coloured the sapphire black. My understanding is that there must be a very thin sheet of sapphire on top of the black plastic.

The home button is not see-thru!!! It's colored glass not clear glass. By your logic the bezel would be see-thru.

Was the iPhone 4/4s see-thru? Has any iPhone front been see-thru? It's all glass.

Good grief.

You say that but when I had the iPhone 4 there was a piece of debris caught between the glass and the black colouring of the bezel, I returned it and had it swapped out for this reason.

What plastic. There is no plastic. It's sapphire glass.

What is underneath the sapphire glass? white and black paint? If you look at ifixit teardown there is a metal plate behind the home button

pretty sure they dont colour the glass, although quote me if I am wrong (without the hostility)

Then entire front panel of an iPhone 7 is colored glass. That is why they delayed the release of the white iPhone 4 for 9 months. They had issues painting the glass. The Touch ID button has a metal plate underneath but the top part of the button itself is glass. I'm not being hostile. I'm sorry if you are it's coming across that way.
