Don't flame me but I thought the note 8 took better pictures than the iPhone 8

Good for you I suppose... Lot of people like very unreal photos considering many put them through filter hell on their phones. That's why all this gnashing is always weird.

DXO and the like don't really even test real word use like having to wipe out your phone in 1/2 second to get a shot of some random event.

In those situations, Apple's computational advantage means it would always win, cause you actually would get a usable shot and not a hellish blur (or not shot at all). Try it out, whip out your phone and take a shot as quickly as you can. Do it on an Android phone, especially one with anything using the CPU at all.

I like my photos to look as realistic as possible never really done any with filters and the note 8 seemed to retain more detail and the HDR differences between the lens was just odd.

Don't get me wrong I think the iPhone 8 also takes excellent pictures.

First, this is a youtube photo test. It is close to useless for examining details on shots. That said, Apple rendering is not so much about critical pixel level sharpness.
Then, diffrence in metering or white balance with two different framing is not odd, it is normal, because, you know, the camera does not use the same scene to take decision. In this particular example, I don't understand Samsung WB choices : it is cloudy and the shots are way too warm, it feels unnatural.

iPhone 8 Plus' camera is the same as last year's. The Note 8 in comparison is better all around for detail, natural colors, OIS, autofocus speed, low light, stereo sound, etc. Now we know why DxO Labs intentionally left out the Note 8.
In all tests I have seen, I see better results from iPhone 8 compare to 7.
The ISP is all new, and it play a important role in smartphone cameras. Then, analysis from the link I posted earlier say the sensor is all new, with different phase detection patern, and for the first time in iPhone, a stacked design.
What do you have to back up your claim that the camera is unchanged in iPhone 8 ?
