What I am talking about is normal for this case so perhaps what you have is something more significant. It isn't a gap in my case just where the plastic liner sits relative to the cut-out. I have no problem with it and as stated can only find it when I go looking. However, reception is something else entirely and for me it has not been noticeably different with or without the case. FWIW I am on Telstra in Australia (major metropolitan area).
Can you post some detail images of your problem area? The earlier photos didn't really show it clearly.

Yeah the red is really stunning in person. The plastic liners are clear. Jacob is sending me new liners but so far so good with the case. My apt has been spotty but typing this right now, I've had 5 bars on the highway (im not driving) :D

The "gap" that I think keeps getting referenced here is from the fact that the plastic spacers are made of a clear/translucent material. It's allowing light to be transmitted through the thin area of the case surrounding the volume buttons. Since the aluminum of the case is actually not in contact with the phone at all, and is resting on the clear plastic spacers, in some instances/viewing angles you can see light coming through the side of the volume button cut-out when looking at the front (or back) of the phone.

A quick fix to this is to either use a black Sharpie, or VERY lightly use black spray paint to color the clear plastic spacers along the side where the volume buttons are (do this with the case disassembled and the spacers out of the case, of course). This will keep the light from showing through from the side to the front or back.

chris any word on the hybrid being released anytime soon or the verizon version.

Last time Jacob and I discussed both of those topics, it was stated that he hoped to have both of them ready to go by middle to end of this month (February). I'll see if I can talk with him about it again this weekend and post if anything has changed.

How much reception loss is everybody experiencing, if any at all? My case destroys my reception in areas where I normally get 3 bars sending it down to 0-1 bar and reverts to using edge a lot when normally 3G is fine. I can't even run speed tests because I won't pick up any reception. In areas where I normally get a very stable and consistent 4-5 bars, I fluctuate between 2-4 which can change from 2 to 3 to 4 and then back to 2 in a matter of 30 seconds but 3G speeds seem, for the most part, normal. Seems weird to me that my reception is acting up but the 3G down speeds are fine.

I know this isn't normal by reading through the thread. Anybody have an idea what might be going on? I did notice when I first installed the case that both of the plastic liners didn't fit perfectly and seemed a bit large. They bowed towards the center and when I put in the phone they would not set on the metal bezel, but rather the back glass causing me to push them back in. Could this be an issue? When I took out my phone after a few days of use, they didn't seem to bow outwards anymore but rather they bowed upwards.

I had the same problems as you. I wonder if they are using new liners because there are a few people having this problem. Jacob is sending me new liners so you should contact him and let him know your problem.

If the new liners don't work, I will be asking for a refund.

If he waits that long, he is going to miss the boat. The Atomic fits and the Element fits it too already. So if he waits until the end of the month, he will lost alot of sales. I don't understand why he don't start production. All you have to do is look at apple's website, it gives the exact measurements of both phones, it would be simple to measure out exactly where the mute switch will be. All he has to do is take down the measurements and do some math and he is done. But let him miss all the business that will go to Atomic and Element. His lose.

Jacob sent me new liners and they are a much tighter fit than the original ones I had. And while I still have a problem with the top half of the case where the liners bow in the middle, it doesn't matter because when I put the phone in, it's a nice tight fit.

Did the new liners fix the reception issue? Or were you having them to begin with?

I haven't had any reception issues, old or new liners. That's why I've been pleasantly surprised by this case and also why I like it so much.

I agree, I really wanted one of these cases but can't wait that long to get some protection on the phone. too bad he couldn't get it together like the other case manufactures.

The current case should work with the verizon model

I think what obyte is trying to say is that fit wise, the current e13ctron case WILL technically fit the Verizon iPhone, but the hole for the vibration switch won't be lined up and the switch itself will be partially under the part of the case that divides the vibrate switch cutout from the volume button cutout. The way that the case is made actually has the aluminum of the case situated out away from the vibrate and volume buttons enough that they never will actually touch the case. Anyone with the case currently knows how far the buttons sit down inside the cutouts. You can "eyeball" this for yourself if you have the case...the top of the vibrate switch wouldn't hit the case itself even if you moved the vibrate button down closer to the volume buttons...it'd just be partially obscured by the metal dividing the two cutouts. You'd still be able to flip the switch with your fingernail just as you can now. It would look kind of jury rigged aesthetically, but if you had an At&T iPhone 4 with e13ctron case, and are just making the switch over to the Verizon iPhone 4, it'd at least work temporarily until e13ctron comes out with a "Verizon" edition. I am not saying that this should be used as a permanent solution, or defending them in not having a case ready (but they are working on it), just saying the obyte is technically right in saying that the current case will fit on a Verizon iPhone, and that the vibrate switch would still work. It'd just be partially obscured by the "divider" between the vibrate cutout and volume cutout.

Here's a picture to show that the material of the case doesn't actually touch or impede the operation of the volume switch. The case will technically still fit (because of the clearance on the inside provided by the plastic spacers) even if the holes for the switches aren't even milled out. You can see that the case material doesn't even touch the vibrate switch or the volume buttons, even when not cutout during manufacturing. The volume button would still operate, but would be partially behind the part of the case I circled in red.

Received my red polished bottom piece tonight and I have to say that I really like the color. Combining it with the clear matte top gives a nice contrast in texture when holding the phone and provides a pop of color. I'm impressed yet again

Got bored tonight and made me some yellow screws to continue with my whole "Georgia Tech" theme I have going on with my phone right now. Didn't turn out too bad, for a quick job. Although I think an all black, matte case (like the one I'm using in the picture) would look great with red screws.
