Packaging: The case arrived in a standard box. Inside the box was each of the outer metal pieces wrapped
separately in a plastic bag, the two clear plastic inserts wrapped in bubble wrap, and then a package of both
black and standard silver screws and the hex wrench. Thankfully there were 2 extras of each color of screws
as one of my silver screws jumped away and is still MIA. The extra screws were a definite nice touch. The
included instructions were very clear and were self-explanatory on how to put the case together. The
packaging wasnt anything extraordinary, which is fine and I dont see what the big hoopla is about what
kind of packaging a case or product comes in unless you plan on keeping the box
Fit/Finish: The fit and finish on this case is remarkable. There are no rough edges, no sharp corners, etc.
Obviously we all know that the standard Apple cables fit for the headphones and the sync/charging cable,
which is all I use anyways. I didnt experience any problems with the plastic inserts bowing in and everything
fit perfectly. With my case, I received black screws and silver screws. Because I got the matte black and
blue, I found the black screws to be a better match. As far as the finish goes, I again ordered the matte
because I was afraid of the polished being too slick. The matte does a great job at eliminating the fear of
dropping your phone with its finish, but at the same time, it does have a chalky feeling to it that I dont like.
Ive read on here that that goes away after a bit of use, but I still think I would like the polished finish better.
Those looking for a better grip or that stealth look will definitely choose the matte over the polished however.
Reception: I tested this case in both a low signal area and a high signal area and compared it to the naked
iPhone 4 as well as a Splash Cruiser slider case (can be found on Amazon for $17 great case). In the high
signal area (typically 4-5 bars), I noticed no signal change between the naked iPhone, the Splash Cruiser case,
and the E13ctron S4 case. The wifi and GPS worked flawlessly with the E13ctron case, and I experienced no
slowdowns in download/upload speed or trouble in the GPS finding my location or tracking me.
In the lower signal area (the basement of my campus), I typically experience 2 bars with the Splash Cruiser
case. When switching to the S4 case, I noticed the signal stayed at 2 bars, but would occasionally drop to
1 bars for a second or two occasionally. I noticed the same thing occurring with the naked iPhone 4 depending
on how I held it. Again, this was a pleasant surprise and I was impressed that the signal quality matched that of
the plastic slider and the naked iPhone. I did not experience any death grip issues with the S4 case.
Final Thoughts: My final thoughts on the E13ctron S4 case is that it is a very, very well machined case and is
definitely worth the price you pay for it. As a college student, its not easy for me to drop the money on a case
when I can go to AT&T and get one for $5. LOL I was definitely not disappointed in the case and also found the
company very great to work with. As a senior mechanical engineering student, it is easy for me to appreciate the
amount of detail that has gone into this case, especially to eliminate any signal issues and I will have no problem
recommending the case to others. My only regret is getting the matte finish instead of the polished.
(sorry about the poor pics)
