I trust Apple more than I trust EA. I also don't think PvZ is a big deal. I mean, it's not like Angry Birds or anything.

I can't stand Angry Birds, but I will give it credit for not being yet another tower defense game.

Well, Angry Birds is really similar to some other games. PvZ is at least different from most tower defense games in certain ways, one of them being that your plants are actually on the battlefield. But it still sucks, and Angry Birds is 100x more fun.

Can Apple pay Nintendo to make official Pokemon Game apps please?

Nah, it's good enough that they let people get away with making emulators that don't require a jailbreak. I have Red on my iPhone, but I'm probably not going to play it.

Apple wouldn't risk paying to delay another product. They likely did - as all organizations in this space do - pay for exclusivity. No different than something being Xbox exclusive or Xbox first. Microsoft pays for that.

Same here - won't even care to download that POS.

you should try it, it's fun, and you don't have to buy anything. Buying stuff is basically cheating for people that suck at the game.

Downloading and playing and never buying anything might teach them more of a lesson than not downloading it at all.

It's an exclusivity deal for crying out loud! Since GTA has been a big thing lately how's about anyone remember how the DLC mission packs for GTA IV were Xbox only for a while?? That was Microsoft paying Rockstar a truckload of money for exclusivity!

EA ruined that franchise anyway

Game is boring/impossible without spending a truckload of money on IAP. Token example of why paywalls suck

it's almost like the first one (which cost $) without spending money, IAP are basically cheats for people that suck in this one.

This could mean big trouble for Apple.

Why :confused::confused:

Yeah it stinks like nothing else but I can guarantee Apple does this sort of thing all the time, but so do Sony Playstation and Microsoft Xbox, you pay the devs and publishers for exclusivity. In gaming this is nothing new, in fact with the new consoles this year it'll be a practice more ripe than usual I suspect.

It's even surprising why Apple is bothering to deny it all?

Assuming it's true (?) next time they'd be smart to include NDA in the contract. Or they did and someone is getting slapped for violating it.

Don't you think you've had enough?

Frank Gibeau:
No, No, hit me again... Did I ever tell you about the time I showed Steve Jobs who was boss? Yeah, I got a truck load of money from him for stalling the Android version of Plants vs. Zombies...yeah I kicked his ass.

Bartender: Oh really? You don't say? Hmmm... :p

Will never happen, not unless Nintendo moves to just license games as opposed to building consoles which they are still doing. The only reason their consoles sells is proprietary games, you won't find Mario, pokemon, zelda, or any of the other big name Nintendo titles outside of its consoles.

Is there even one person who would have bought an iOS device over another because of Plants vs. Zombies? This is the first I've heard of the game.

Having said that, Apple does tout exclusives in the App Store, and Phil Schiller dropped Instagram after it became available on Android, which seems awfully touchy, so I could see Apple doing something like this.

Your joke is so much better than mine.

Some of the recent sensationalized lame stories here are getting boring. I come here for the jokes now. :D

I don't think this is much of a story at all. This is common practice in other markets. Is this the first time it's happened for an app? Probably not.

Btw, Plants VS Zombies 2 is a lot of fun. I like it a lot.

"Amazing what denial looks like in a hardcore fanatic."

Even if you do not dig harder on what's this story is all about, there is nothing worth for anyone to be in denial.

That's not us; that's a mirror you're looking at.

It really doesn't seem that much of a story, given the wide spread existence of exclusivity in gaming.

I've been playing the game since launch with no problems. Unlocked the next world just with the stars/keys I would get in every level, and now I have plants that I've unlocked for FREE that make the game much, much, much easier.

I don't think it's an IAP issue, it's just people unwilling to actually understand that this plant can do this and that, and the limits imposed are easily avoidable by using only two types of plants.

It's HIGHLY enjoyable, and that's why I'm still playing without having had spent a PENNY on anything.

Use your brains people.

I'm pretty sure Amazon does the exclusivity launch thing too. I bet PvZ 2 gets on there before Google Play even.

But yeah, I still am digging it. FAR more interesting than the first, the mini games are really cool, especially that matching one. I always almost lose a mower every time.
