Coming soon-colored sticky dots to hide the HIDEOUS red dot. $9.99 each or 3 for 19.99! Or Product red dots? Or rainbow ones? Or color matched dots included with straps? How about a custom printed dot with your face on it? Or a tiny Seurat painting?

Red dot on the dark grey body is fantastic; all the fuss being made about it blown way out of proportion.

Love the responsiveness of the watch although I'm sure it's a combination of both new hardware and new OS (moving up from a Series 2 on the last 3.x OS, sold it before updating to watchOS 4).

Liking the new interface changes; though I know the screen is exactly the same size, it somehow feels "bigger" than before.

I really don't understand what is so bad about the red dot. I like it.

I don't think there's anything bad about it. I just think it's very different and nobody expected this to be added to the digital crown. But those who truly want the Apple Watch, won't let this stop them from purchasing it because of a red dot.

Apple Watch stainless steel doesn’t have the nice plastic box anymore. At least from the ones with the sport bands I’m not sure about the rest. Makes the unboxing feel less premium

That’s right. My issue too. You need to buy an LTE stainless for $ 70 more and not activate the LTE. I passed on that option. So I got the aluminum one, and added AppleCare. Another surprise. No more $ 29 deductible on screen repair. Now $ 69 like all other repairs.

Pure greedy BS move by Apple to increase screen repair costs to equal a phones 4.7” from a 2” screen.

Not only a redesign to look beautiful like on the android side but also goddamn custom faces. How long till that. Or maybe jailbreak is already out and I didn't know.

Blapheemer!

This is a digital watch ‘round’ is wasted space and a design ethic that will never make sense. An icon/button can be placed into corners where a circle has wasted space (semi-circle icons/buttons in the UI, meh)!

Custom watch faces I’ll agree more fine tuned options would be nice - maybe iOS Watch App Theme creator would be best

No, it won't.

Lol agreed! I don’t really think White AirPods are fashionable: if custom finishes or foam sleeves could be had within a week I’d have these 5mths ago. So no red dot screams too much like a kid dieing to present at show and tell.

but, exactly like what the blue dot for for Blaupunkt.
i think this is what apple had in mind, and i think it works.

Blaupunkt that’s an iconic brand with the Blue dot! If Apple was going for that in a cuflink sort of way they messed up with red. Yet for resellers they did the grey market a favour with ease of identification for this product.

The watch face at the top of the article is exclusive to Apple Watch 3, right? I don’t see it in Watch OS 4.

Yeah it does seem to be unique to S3. I don’t see it on my Nike +

can somebody tell me what is the name of this watch face? (first picture in the article).
is it available only on S3?
I would like to use it on my S2.
thanks in advance

Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE shared by MacRumors reader gatorknight904

Complete FAiL for Set up, still haven't been able to set up cellular on my Apple Watch SS Series 3, it gets as far as the security PASSCODE and stops, eventually it returns to the SETP Cellular Screen after 5-15 minutes. DISAPPOINTED, I spent money on something that know one from Apple or AT&T can seem to help get it setup

I am soooo tired of not being able to load/design new watch faces.
Why doesn't this thing get jailbroken.
That's more compelling than a LTE, megaflop processors, Series 3,4,5 etc.etc.etc.

I would love to believe this story, but the cable news networks are calling this, "The Rotten Apple" saying the Apple Watch 3's LTE doesn't work and criticizing the 1 hour battery life on phone calls.

I doubt both are completely lying about this serious a bug, but I'm guessing this product is a miss this go round at least as far as LTE.

The bug's scope is very well known and you can mostly avoid it by getting rid of some bad WIFI networks in your connection list (that's what the watch uses).

This TV station basically did click bait journalism, probably straight from the internet without any verification; journalism is truly dead.
Considering that's its A very small WATCH with a microscopic battery that has a GPS, microphones, LTE/bluetooth/WIFI modems, speakers, hear sensors, a high quality screen, 8G of flash storage and the CPU equivalent to a early 2000s desktop, they're trash talking means they don't actually care about actual reality. They'll say anything for a buck.

What's the actual cellular reception like? If you go to a place where your iPhone is on 1 bar or whatever, will your Apple Watch be able to make or receive calls or get texts?

I have an iPhone 5s, but its reception sucks. I don't want to upgrade to an SE until next year when they update that, but I might consider getting this version of the Apple Watch if its ability to make and receive texts/calls is better than my dying 5s.

Can anyone help me?

I’m curious about this “Complete Fail” you’re experiencing.

Is your phone line part of a family plan of sorts?
Is your phone line the primary line or is it a secondary on such a plan?
Is there a limit to tour monthly data or spend?
Are you on a prepaid or postpaid plan?!
Try powercycling phone then watch silly I know but curious of the towers reregister the phone line if cell providers billing system will allow the setup to complete through.

"On the Series 2, when I would swipe watch faces, it seemed to lag and sometimes take a few swipes to move to the next face"

LOL!! What are there, like five faces? What a joke. Version three of the watch and it's been out for years and you can't make or download third party faces - what's the point of a digital watch??

There’s no way you guys could be happy with this thing as The Verge gave it a 5 score. You sheep.

I don't have the Verge up on a pedestal and I can take thoughts from different sources and still be rational.

I also value my own opinion about what I like and what is good for me more than someone else's, in regards to me.

Another thought, if you are basing your perception of something you do not have off of another companies thoughts, is that not putting your faith in that company, making one as much of a sheep as someone listening to another company.
Pot or Kettle here?

Agreed. I like the rectangular design. But a round variant would be appreciated and perhaps an offering of a larger display as well, but in a slightly thinner form factor. Aside from that, I would and many others would like to a see Watch Face store or addtional Watch faces.

I really don't like the single design (square) at all. Large round design, always on, custom faces. Don't need thinner personally. I don't mind it if it's bulky. My Fenix 3 is giant. It's not an issue. The Apple Watch is just so boring looking. Uninspired. I like the tech in it though.

To summarise then..

It Could've Been Worse. Just.

Roll up roll up ladies and gentlemen. Apple Watches three 'undred odd quid to you Sir. I can see you're a gentleman of distinction and know a uniquely wonderful item when you sees one. Well. Look at this lovely thing glinting in the sunlight ere. Let the fellow through. Look at the massive red carbuncle on the side there Sir. That there is a bezel. Yes. Do you do much deep sea diving sir? Ah. That's a pity. See. This ere watch ideal for going underwater. Very.'eavy. Massive. A bit of a faux pas on the looks there. But if you like to show folks youre quite the Apple fan and need to help in their ongoing profits then really there's nothing that shows that more than this. Now madam. You don't mind foregoing another holiday trip for another year to make sure this piece of er.... essential technology adorns your wrist do you? Keep fit? Ideal. You'll soon have arms like Arnie with these. You don't want arms like Arnie. Well. Erm. Not much choice really it is a tad heavy for a ladies watch and not quite the svelte .... Ok. Ok. Fair enough. I understand. Anybody else? Apple Watches ere. Get yer Apple Watches... come on lads and lasses ... did you know there's cock-er-ny rhyming slang for them already. Yeah. ''Half-Baked-Botch=Apple Watch'' Correct. Luvvly jubbly. Now then. Please. Don't rush all at once. One at a time please ladies and gentlemen.

Got my series 3 yesterday, activated on Bell with no problems.

Made a brief call to test out the LTE and it was fine, though the connection will drop out faster than a phone if in a bad reception area (to be expected with a smaller antenna I guess?).

Lol relax bro. You’re more upset at people being upset at the red dot, then the people who are upset about the red dot.
More like bewildered. More like I find it mind boggling. Just take a black sharpie. Fixed. Easy. I don’t understand the OCD aspect of some people. But I think it’s mostly about some people so so bored and have nothing to do but complain about inconsequential anything’s.
I work in luxury design and pickier than most people and I think it looks fine.

Someone please do a video side by side between Series 2 and Series 3 for a speed test opening apps please.

I don’t believe the speed hype

Haha. I like this guys honesty.
But it's good point. Sometimes it's the hype that's blinding.
I loved my Apple Watch the first day I got it. I was hyped! Now I never wear it because of the long list of things I don't like about it. Mainly raising to wake the screen doesn't always work. That makes it a fail of a watch right there in my eyes. I also hate that you can't swipe up to display the music control center I used the hell outta that. And I don't like how stingy apple is being with the face options. That's a mistake in my opinion. They could have a face store but nope. I didn't like how weak the speaker was either. Couldn't hear anyone in a quiet room that echoed. As the series one stands it's just not for me. Maybe the series 3 is but I have T mobile and I'm still not quite convinced.

I suppose that’s one advantage to the Oct 5 delivery date for my Nike+ Watch. Hopefully the activation rush will have slowed down by then!
Then we will cause a second wave! Ugh. I can't wait. My husband got his black aluminum sport with dark olive band yesterday. His original was stainless steel. So was mine. We decided we preferred the lighter weight of aluminum. I do miss the look of stainless but not the weight of it. I can also have two aluminum watches for just a little under the price of one stainless. So I have a black Series 2 sport and an upcoming silver series 3. :D

I think @djcerla was being sarcastic and mocking The Verge. The post has a /s at the end indicating that they mean to be sarcastic.

Lots of hate on the red dot, and on the initial announcement that was a big turn-off for me too. Enough that I thought I'd pass on the watch.

After seeing it and trying it on in person my opinion changed 180 degrees. For one thing you don't see the dot at all when wearing it so that's not an issue. For another it appears much more understated out in the wild than it does in the up close highly focused glamour shots online. It's a differentiator and in my opinion looks kind of cool.

really digging mine. I went back and forth on color, just like I did with my MacBook Pro lol, settled with the Space Black. Wish there were more matching bands. Maybe Apple will throw some bands together for the Space Black, that are a little more affordable. on a side note: searching on how to sync music to the watch, nothing seems to be working in that regards.

Did you ever get a reply to this ?, I'd love to know also

Is it even safe to have a cellular device pressed directly up against your body for extended periods of time?
