White 64gig 4S

Just checked.. mine says 'preparing for shipment', which sounds like an intermediate phase between processing and shipment. I think everything is green lighted for Friday delivery.

I should mention that I ordered direct from Apple as well, I prefer not to deal with at&t any more than I have to.

To the folks that ordered from AT&T and are worried, don't be. The way it worked for me with the 3GS and 4 was that my Apple-ordered iPhone shipped 5 days early from China and my AT&T-ordered iPhone shipped next day air on the Thursday from the US.

Got my notice today as well. Delivery expected on the 14 th

I got my iPhone 4 two days before launch. I walked into ATT to activate it, while employees and customers alike gathered around as it was the first one any of them had seen. I was pretty stoked, but I think some of them were more excited than I was.

Good times.

*edit* - Just checked the status of my 64gb 4S, and it's "preparing for shipment", so I imagine it'll be shipped by the end of today.

To anyone whose iPhone has shipped already, you'll probably get it wednesday.

I wondered the same thing. You do have to question the legality of Applecare+, if they force you to get it on day one, as it seems according to Apple's site - it says something like it must be purchased at the same time as the phone.

Many states have laws that forbid companies from essentially charging you for something like this that is already covered by the normal terms of the new product warranty.

I would be bet that Apple will need to make changes to the program, selling it as a damages policy, not combined with an extended warranty.

I did buy Applecare for my iP4, but did so the last month of my 1 yr warranty, then needed to get the phone replaced a month later due to home button issues. It was worth the money, but I'm not convinced that spending $150 for one replacement or $200 for two over the course of 2 years is worth it.
Yeah I went ahead and purchased it with the phone order. I suppose it doesn't really make a difference if I bought it now or later but I was afraid if I bought it later it may be more. Like when you buy a Macbook Pro. They give it to you at a discounted price, I think $79 but if you buy it later I think it's $99. At least it was like that last year. Don't quote me as I'm not sure but I do remember a difference in price.

Hope I don't need to use it but glad I'm insured. I wonder if Sprint will continue offering their insurance at $7? And what exactly it would cover if so.

Ordered through Sprint, got a tracking number but the ups site just says a label has been made. I'm guessing/hoping it will leave tonight. It does list shipping by 2nd day air.

I'm glad Apple Australia doesn't ship their launch day devices till the day before the delivery day. I couldn't live with the tension of seeing it ship early and not reach me till the 14th.

$650 but that's a guess, it's what I paid for my Sprint IPhone 4S with no contract extension.

It will be $649 for the 16GB, $749 for 32GB and $849 for 64GB. We don't yet know when in November they will ship.

Got my notice today!! It shipped and is in Hong Kong. Says expected delivery Oct 14th. Cant wait. Never got the 4, still have my old 3gs which died about a month ago. Been using an THC surround the last month with windows phone 7. Kinda fun to play around with a different os for awhile, but looking forward to my 4s.

16 GB - 629 €
32 GB - 739 €
64 GB - 849 €

i assume it will be the same in $ as usual

Will you be upgrading? Seeing as you already own a 4?

I'm trying to justify getting a white one, but my 4 is still in pretty good condition.

So far this morning, my 16gb 4S went from departed from Shenzhen to tracking to HK. Like others here, I sort of hate feeling driven to check shipment status, given I know the chance of getting it early is next to nil.

I guess it's the 21st century's version of checking the mailbox for the package or letter you're expecting.

I'm quite excited about Friday. I had a 3GS that died about 2 months ago. So, I've been using my original 2007 iPhone and, boy is this thing underwhelming compared to my wife's iPhone 4.

Activation

Can someone explain what happens during activation over the phone? I've never done it this way before and my wife is going to be home on Friday and probably will be anxious to try and use her phone. That being said, I don't want something she does unintentionally to botch our grandfathered plans with unlimited data and 200 messages for 5$. Her line is the secondary on our family plan. Does activation have the chance of altering our plan settings? Can an iPhone be used for non phone usage without activation until I get home? Even better, is it a straightforward process where she can call me on the phone if she has any questions?

So I have a N00B question. I've never purchased an unlocked iPhone before, always subsidized. What would be the difference between an unlocked 4S, and buying a full price carrier locked one on day 1? I'm not eligible for an upgrade with AT&T until 2/12 but was wondering if I would be able to buy one at full retail price on day one, but just carrier locked. Also would it extend my contract if I do? I don't want to extend my contract, but would love to get the 4S on day 1. Also thinking an unlocked 4S would have a higher resale value, so I might just suck it up, and wait till November, UGH!

Just a heads up, you have a free 1 year warranty with Apple, so Applecare or not, your phone is covered. I have taken my iPhone 4 into an Apple store twice and both times were taken care of without Applecare.

I doubt they will hold the orders back from arriving. Got mine early last year.

At&t

Mine is still shown as backordered on AT&T's site. I ordered in the store. Hope they change thier mind in the next couple days!

My Premier order # and the order # on AT&T normal website are different numbers. Is this how it is for everyone else on premier?

With so many preorders there will be a lot of people getting there phones early just like withthe 4. I just hope I am one of them.

No shipment notification, and no combination of phone numbers, phone number formats or zip codes shows me anything on UPS's site.

Still just says preparing for shipment, but it does say delivery by the 14th.

Ordered at about 2:45AM CT, as soon as Apple's site became available for pre-orders.

I was forced to change the address it is shipping to the day after the order, since Apple's site wouldn't let me edit the shipping address during checkout. Hoping that won't have a negative impact.
