Early iPhone 4S Shipment Notices, Delivery Still Likely on 14th

Order history: Ordered iPhone 4s white 32GB pre-ordered through apple.ca at 3:45am EST on Oct 7. Received confirmation email at 4:07am on Oct 7. My order is still processing according to apple's order status.

Just got off the phone with Apple about my order.
The woman on the phone told me that my iphone was still processing and that I would receive a shipping notice once it did ship. She said it will be shipped by Oct 14th as units become available. I asked her why it hadn't moved to "preparing for shipping" yet but she said that they are waiting for units to become available.

This is a bit frustrating as I did order so early (3:01am EST was the time to start preordering in my time zone). I did have a few failed attempts at ordering and got the "oops" message but I eventually got through (at 3:45am) before the site went down. Are we being punished for ordering so early? It is frustrating to know that phones ordered later than mine have already shipped and mine is still stuck processing.

Are there other people who have had this same issue in Canada?

Don't worry mine is in the same boat, I called Apple today and they said all phones that are in this state will be shipped today and still get here on Friday.

Anyone order early from Verizon? We ordered a white 16GB and a black 16GB and when I check the order status on Verizons website it says "we received your order and it is in process". We placed the preorder around 3:10 am. I am getting frustrated with Verizon for not getting out any more information. I have called several times and get different answers each time. One rep says you should have it by the 14th and another says it will ship the 14th and you should have it 2 days from then. I am just wondering if anyone who preordered from Verizon if they have gotten any shipment email notifications? I know it's just a phone but for some one who has no patience it's a pain! This is gonna be my first iPhone and I can't wait! I love my iPad and iMac!

Hope everyone gets their iPhone4S when they are supposed to and enjoys them!

Ok so I just checked the order status on Verizon again and it changed so it gives me a little more hope to have the iPhone by Friday. Sad I know but like I said before, I don have patience. Here is what the status shows now.

I know that the order is supposed to come by fed ex but will be more relieved when something shows up in the courier space and with a tracking number. Not too excited about fed ex delivering since half of the time they deliver our stuff to the wrong house or don't even attempt. UPS we have never had a problem with. The white 64GB 4s I ordered Friday morning landed in Louisville, KY at 9:28 a.m. this morning (October 11). Can't wait! This 4s will replace my current iPhone which is the original iPhone that I got on the day that the first iPhones went on sale. Maybe some will be delivered before Oct. 14.

Mine is in the same state. Mine is in Louisville KY and I ordered of Apple.com at about 5am CST. I didn't even get a tracking number or shipped notice until this morning and it shipped on the 9th. I think Apple and UPS might be behind a bit. I ordered a white 64gb ATT model.

Yeah, my prediction is a lot of tracking info is going to flood in really quickly once the dam breaks. My past experience is that it seems like nothing's happening, and then all of sudden you see that your package is like half a day away. The fact that Apple is trying to manage this process and ensure that a huge number of people in a million different places all get something on the same day also adds to the likelihood that you're not going to get literal, timely updates throughout the shipping process.

My black iPhone 4S 64GB is in Kentucky. White 4S 32GB is still "Preparing for Shipment" and searching my phone/zip on UPS only gives my black iPhone tracking info.

So perhaps my black one will come a day early, the white one will come on Friday. Either way, still beats standing in line!

I'm in the US. Ordered right after the store went up. It went through smoothly. My order still has not shipped. I am pretty worried as they said it will be coming from overseas so it is very likely it will not be here by friday...

My order went through around 3:50 am EST. Thought that was a sure way to get it on time. I might have been wrong with that assumption.

I'm still hopeful that they will deliver by the 14th. Even if they need to overnight, etc. I don't know if there is rhyme or reason on who gets a tracking number and who doesn't. I got into the system as soon as it came live. I was able to successfully check eligibility, but I made a mistake and put another number, not of the line I wanted to upgrade. After that it was a bit of a nightmare for the next couple of hours of not being able to check eligibility or failing at some other stage of ordering. Eventually I was put in the reservation list between 2AM and 3AM. I completed the order next day around 3 or 4PM. I would assume the reservation order would matter, not when I completed the order. Anyway, as I said. I'm still hopeful that it will get delivered on time.

This is definitely a great tip!
If only my phone said "preparing to ship" instead of "processing".
Hopefully Apple will update my order to "ship" soon!

My white AT&T 64gb (x2) reserved at 4:30 AM and ordered through Apple at 9:30 am still show "preparing for shipping" with a delivery date of Friday.

I reserved these two right after the servers came back up with the stopgap AT&T reservation solution.

As I predicted, a bunch of tracking information came through this evening. Our phones, like many others, have made their way through Shenzen, China; Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong; and are now in Anchorage, AK.

Another method which just worked for me two hours ago!!

I read a post by some user in the apple forum and it was the only thing that worked for me, I logged in at UPS and tried track by reference method and i tried to input my order number except for the last two digits and I got the tracking information, (by the way I ordered mine thru Apple.com). By the way I tried the phone number method and it didn't work for me.

I ordered my 32GB 4S through the store when they opened at 9:00AM on Oct. 7th and this morning at 7:00AM CST my status changed to "SHIPPED" via Fed Ex with a tracking number that isn't in their system yet. The ship date is 10/10/11.

I have ordered 16 GB White and I still have 'Preparing for Shipment'.

Both UPS or Fedex do not have any record too.

Apple site shows as 'Delivers Oct 14 via Standard Shipping' and I still keep my hope up.

White 16GB here as well. I've no notice from Apple yet, but just now the UPS reference number trick worked. My phone is in Hong Kong at the moment. I was getting worred for a few days...
