Has anyone considered that Apple would announce the iPhone5 in September but it won't be available to purchase until October... sounds familiar to iPhone 4 launch (Announce in June, launch in July).

2 + 2 = 4????

Still trying to rationalize a compelling reason to dump my iP4, pay a ridiculous fee to AT&T, and upgrade to this iP5.

This is exciting for me. I've been using the 3G for other 3 years now, and I'm just tired of how slow it is. I hardly use it anymore, because of all the waiting just to do anything. The maps applications is especially bad, just trying to type in a location and find it is painful. Something major changed when they released the 3GS, because the difference between it and the 3G is like night and day.

Something changed when they released the 3GS? Really?

old tech, ARMv6:
iPhone
iPhone 3G

new tech, ARMv7:
iPhone 3GS
iPhone 4
iPhone 5

What's the reasoning behind the giant home button again??:confused:

There were rumors of some gesture support being added in.

This delay HAS to mean a new design. I can't wait to see it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a larger display while retaining the retina quality.

Four stories in a row about finger dragging ape devices. This site should really consider changing the name to iosrumours.

Or Apple could focus more on Mac and therefore generate more Mac rumors...

I don't think MacRumors is disregarding any "Mac" rumors out there in favor for iOS rumors...

There basically has to be a pretty significant design update after waiting this long and the controversy surrounding the iPhone 4 design right?

Well I for one am pretty much convinced now that it's going to be a early October launch.

I have been struggling with my 3G for years now, as an earlier poster said it's painfully slow and only really use it for it's phone functionality.

At least it's all given me time to save up for the top model when released :D

AT&T doesn't "confirm" Apple's plans. Nor does the Wall Street Journal, Shaw Wu, Gene Munster, etc.

The only people who confirm Apple's plans are Apple managers. Guys by the name of Steve, Tim, Phil, Scott, Greg, Peter, etc.

Nothing is "confirmed."

iPhone 4 was announced on June 7, 2010 and launched on June 24 (although FedEx delivered mine a day early on the 23rd).

We're seen and got almost used to these pre rendered images of what the iPhone5 will be like.

I just hope it turns out in reality to be as nice.
If I was Apple and the device I was about to launch did not look anywhere near as nice as the pre-rendered shots that were all over the chat sites, I'd be doing my utmost (undercover) to change these images (leak some real shots) so that it was not a disappointment when we see the real thing.

Yep. Hopefully the battery life wont suffer due to larger display.

In a way I hope there is a re-design, though I still like the current design.

So when can we expect the keynote to take place, assuming this 'rumor' to be true? I wanna see what it looks like and what's new :D

I disagree. I went from the original iPhone to the iPhone 4, expecting to be blown away by the speed difference. Guess what? Not much faster at all. Camera is still a closed shutter _forever_ while launching. Text messaging, maps, etc. slow to respond. Typing characters just as slow as ever - I've typed a whole word and then look at the screen to see the letters i n d i v i d u a l l y appear. I still love my iPhone4, but I can't imagine how you could have seen a difference from the 3G to the 3GS when Original to 4 was minimal improvement. Don't get too excited for the 5.

My sister has a friend who works at one of them ATT stores, they say the dumbest things. I already don't like ATT, and it might not be like this at all the stores but I know they say things just to get a sale. I remember when the verizon iPhone was coming, she was like "no it's not" and now they are like "ATT is getting the latest iPhone first, and then verizon will get it 30 or 60 days later" and a bunch of junk.

She works sales but that's what you should expect from sales people. I doubt this guy really knows what he's talking about. He's probably right, saying September to October launch, but that's almost as accurate as someone saying a new iPhone will be released this year or in the next 2 months.
