Mine tells me to "Open ECG app on iPhone" when I go to Health-Browse-Heart- it shows no data available for ECG.
If I delete the ECG app off my watch it will not show it on the App Store, and I'll have to restore. Also I have been on phone with apple trying to send diagnostics, but the diagnostics never finish processing.

Posted on other titled forum as well.

I have an idea as to why the ECG app is gone and why it can’t be reinstalled. I believe it has to do with Bluetooth. In order to get the ECG app you need to be connected to your iPhone and while it may appear that you are connected to you iPhone some part of the watch doesnt recognize the iphone. I can ping my phone and essentially use Bluetooth for every task that requires Bluetooth except install the ECG app.
if you go to settings on the AW then to Bluetooth and note if your watch shows connected to your iPhone. Mine does not but and if I tap on it it says not compatible. Now my iPhone does not show up in the list of Bluetooth devices on the AW. On the iPhone I can see that it’s connected to the AW. I think that may be why in the AW App Store we are seeing iPhone required when trying to grab the ECG app - using the previously mentioned workaround. If you you go to the AW App Store and search for ECG you only get 3rd party apps.
Like everyone else here I’ve unpaired/paired a dozen or more times trying anything I can think of. Reset network setting with no luck. If anyone can confirm they are seeing the same thing wrt Bluetooth that would be great.
Thoughts, ideas, or solutions are much appreciated. Brian

@Brian J I’m having a hard time trying to follow what you’re saying, but I think what you’re saying is that on the watch when you go to Settings | bluetooth you don’t see the phone listed. That’s normal and the phone should not be listed there.

It would appear that this is just a bug where once you remove the ECG app you can’t reinstall it. I don’t believe that the ECG app (or anything else, for that matter) requires a bluetooth connection to the phone. The phone and the watch will use bluetooth to connect whenever possible as that’s the connection type with the lowest power usage, but if bluetooth isn’t available it will fall back to wifi or even cellular (on a cellular watch) and everything that could be done through bluetooth can be done through the wifi or cellular connection.

Perhaps I’m grasping at straws - it’s a shame that the OS got pushed out with this issue. Frustrating in any case as I wait for Apple engineering to find a solution.

I agree it feels like watch OS 7 was rushed to get the new watches out I’m about to go back to my series 5 for now

Has anyone tried to pair there series 6 with a different phone to see if that fixes it?

figured something out i paired my watch to a different phone and i was able to set up ecg and the ecg app reinstalled on my watch, but when i repaired my watch back to my 11 pro the ecg app was gone again. so if theres a way to reset your health data and get your phone to set up ecg again it will resolve this issue. so it seems the fix right now is to restore your iphone as new unfortunately

Thanks for taking the time to figure that out. Sucks thats what it takes to get it fixed. Not sure if I want to go through the pain of restoring my phone as new.

so my ECG app wasnt working so i tried to uninstall it and reinstall it now i cant get it back on my watch and it does not show up in the apple watches app store

So I have the same problem. What I’m doing now is. I uninstalled my Apple watch from the iPhone. Go to you health app in your phone. Look up to the right corner. See you face or blue symbol. Touch that. Then scroll down towards the very bottom. Look to see if your health app has been backup. Now if by chance it’s not. Restore you iPhone back as new iPhone. Then skip all setup. Put your Apple ID in. Do not back up anything. Do not install app. Go to your Apple Watch pair it. Then once paired go to your health app in your iPhone. And look for the ECG app. Download it to your Apple Watch. Then check to see if it works in your Apple Watch. Then go back uninstall the watch unpair. Then erase your iPhone once again. Then restore from the latest backup. And hopefully everything should now be working. And at the Monet im at that point of seeing if it now works. Hopefully all goes well this time. I’ll update you once I am finished reinstalling my iPhone. And Apple Watch. And I currently have the new Apple Watch 6 series by the way.

i dont think that would work because i paired my series 6 to my iPhone SE and it did install the ecg app but when i paired the watch back to my iPhone 11 Pro Max the ECG app disappeared off the watch again. doing what you suggested is virtually the same thing i did just more work imo

yeah im in the same boat i just finished setting up my phone the way i like it on IOS 14 not sure if i want to set my phone up as new just for the ECG app i barely used. it just sucks because i spent 800$ on my series 6 and cant use one of the highlighted features....

So I downloaded the health support app and now it won’t finish “processing data”. It says it can take up to an hour but it’s been longer than that. Anyone successfully fix the issue with the health support app?

I was able to get the app back but it still doesn’t work. The phone health app doesn’t know it needs to connect to the new watch. I was able to find the ecg again in the watch App Store not on my phone though. Like I said it still doesn’t work though.

Got a fix from Apple tonight - I would call it a work around until Apple gets it into an update. Bottom line the issue is with the iPhone and in the settings.
Step 1: Unpair the watch
Step 2: Settings - General - Reset - "Reset All Settings" Going to have to re-setup somethings on the phone but its better than a full restore.
Step 3: Pair the watch - either as new or restore from backup. I restored from a backup.
Step 4: Open the Watch App on the iPhone.
Step 4a: Go to "Heart" in the list of Watch Apps
Step 4b: Select "Set up ECG App on Watch"

This worked for me. Good luck!!

I guess I’ll just wait for the next iOS update to fix this, to much of a hasle for the app right now.

I had the exact same issues , ECG app disappeared after a unpair.

The instructions above fixed it.

Apple support made the same suggestion after 3 days of calls and logs requested

I am SO glad I found this forum. I had an AW series 4 and replaced it with the series 6 on Monday the 28th. I have had several issues.
1. It wouldn't stay paired with my Iphone 11 Pro.
2. It wouldn't notify me of new text messages.
3. The ECG thought it was already set-up on my phone but my watch kept telling me to set it up with my phone.
UGH!!!!! to all of this.
I have spent this past week and a half uninstalling, reinstalling, reading countless ideas blaa blaa blaa. all to no avail. The above fix worked and didn't take as long as all the other things I have tried. Now I just need to reset-up a few things on my phone and honestly I was due to make some changes anyway. Thank You SO very much for sharing this fix.

The latest 7.02 update is released, sayt to fix this. Just updated. Still no ECG...! Even after restarts etc...
