Spoke to an online support for Apple and there is NO guaranty that such "technology" may happen this year.
If that is the case its pure deception on the part of Apple to sell watches on the promise of something they may not deliver. $749.00 for a 44mm SS watch ....not happy right now!!!

Just imagine if they will launch it with the next Apple Watch, then we wasted money with the upgrade this year.

Could have continued to use my AW SS 42mm for a little longer.

Online support has no idea of what’s coming until it’s here.

Apple has provided the technology, it works and its included in the device. It's up to the laws and regulators in that country to allow the feature to be used. Without approval from regulators for that country, it will be illegal to sell the product.

So perhaps shift your blame from Apple and request approval from your government.

There are things that tend not to release when Apple says they will, for example the Airpower would be an example of that. However, online support has no idea and they have no insight information ad to when the ECG feature will launch.

AirPower I think is an interesting scenario because it was shown off before the product was finished. By all reports that demo model would overheat.

ECG it seems is a finished product that just didn’t go through regulation approval prior because they wanted to keep it a secret.

Be a while until we get it here anyway lol

If the ECG support doesn’t release this year, it will make many people upset.

More than upset. Given the volume of sales and the fairly specific sales hype at the sales event, I think you can assume that there will be massive class action litigation. I generally think those lawsuits are frivolous or even perverse, but in this case I would be completely supportive.

Apple has already said its coming to the US by the end of the year.

The only question is the rest of the world. That’s out of Apple’s hands.

That's right, and that's the point. This isn't like AirPower, and really shouldn't play out the same way. As you said, in the US, the hardware exists, Apple has publicly claimed that it's been cleared by US regulators, and publicly stated that it's coming "this year." They have really nailed their colors to the masthead on this. There will be a furor if they don't deliver.

In fact, if they don't deliver this as promised, I think it could compromise their whole health initiative, which is one of the services areas that they really need to expand into in order to keep revenues and income growing in a world of hardware maturity/stagnation.

After AirPower I suspected this was a possibility (As is eSIM) I decided i wouldn't get the S4 unless this feature was enabled. After all, i'm perfectly happy with my S3 and the other enhancements are superficial.

For me the 2 big upgrade reasons: 1 hour extra of outdoor runs (I can finally run a marathon with the watch something I couldn’t before because I wasnt’ quite fast enough).

Better LTE reception; that was a feature I used all the time on Series 3 and improvement there was something I was clamoring for. It is in my area performing better as Apple shared.

The bigger screen has been rather game changing too - the info graph face just changes the way I use the watch going less to apps and getting the info right there instead.

I also hated the Series 3/4 aluminum gold finish, but I love gold watches so it was a bit of a downgrade from my original gold aluminum and am very excited to finally have stainless steel in gold. So lots of awesome updates that made it worth it to me outside of ECG.

You don't have to justify your purchase to me. I get all day battery life with my S3 and have used my LTE service all of 3 times. 2 of those were demonstrating it for the people.

Certainly wouldn't mind a larger display but but not forking over the money until the ECG is activated.

If they failed to deliver ECG until the next watch then I will demand a replacement at that time. I will not even accept an IOS update just before a new watch. The ECG was a major announcement point and selling point.

Indeed. I really hope this isn't the case for us here in the UK...

Exactaly! After AirPower I take apples promises with a grain of salt. Along with Open Sourcing FaceTime or updating the Mac mini

Ha ha...I had the same reaction you describe above after the rollout. For better or worse, I decided the rest of the S4 was attractive enough to make it worthwhile for me to take the chance. ;)
