Could care less to be honest. I certainly did not buy the Series 4 for the EKG feauture.

This whole EKG thing is not something I personally would rely on if I had a heart issue. I go for a complete medical once a year which includes a much more reliable EKG test.
So do I but it took a nurse at blood donor center to realize I had a heart issue. Cardiologist determined I had A-Fib. Software update to blood pressure monitor showed I had a problem with irregular heart beat detected for at least two years prior to my demanding a EKG, which begs the question where the hell was my primary care for past two years who I see at least four times a year.

I was never able to capture my afib in a medical environment, it would stop before I made it to hospital. We first diagnosed it 2 years ago when I bought the Kardia Alivecor.

Having something 24/7 even if a basic 2 lead equivalent, can still mean the difference between diagnosis and uncertainty.

So I’m a fan of the concept.

During last week's earnings call, Cook again said that EGC was still coming "later this year."

Quote from transcript:

Later this year, the ECG app will be available to Apple Watch Series 4 customers in the US, giving them the ability to take an electric cardiogram anytime, right from their wrist. And for US customers with Apple Watch Series 1 and later watchOS will soon enable periodic checks for a regular heart rhythms that may be suggestive of AFib. These are unprecedented and potentially life-changing features, showing how Apple Watch is not only an indispensable communication and fitness companion but also an intelligent guardian for your health.

Im still curious if changing location will allow the egc app run outside US, as in Ireland. Previous stuff launched in US have taken years to get here. We dont even have an apple store yet

Sure if you want to pay $10 a month to save your readings for your cardiologist to review.

I do not pay anything. You can use Alivecor Kardia without having a membership to their pay service and you can email your readings. You need a membership to use the watch app not the iPhone app.

Technically, SD is right, but it's a useless sort of right in my opinion. Without the premium membership you can't save readings in the app history, so if you want to email an EKG to your MD, you need to do it before you take the next EKG.

I keep a pdf copy of each reading I take with the date and time of the reading. There is no limit to the number of readings you can take or save, you just need to save them outside of the Kardia app (which does provide the instructions of how to do it). It is quick and simple to keep a copy of every reading taken.

Hmmm. I’ve never paid the premium subscription and I have a saved history. I wonder why.

Are you in your first month? They give you a free month.

No, had it two years.

Ok, just figured it out.

If Apple waited for regulatory approval in all countries before selling a device, it would be many months or even years before they could sell a new AW. That kind of delay is completely incompatible with trying to sell a cutting edge consumer device. I think some of you are way too optimistic about regulatory approval speed.

I think Apple is doing the only thing they can, which is selling the consumer device as soon as possible, and unlocking the medical feature in each country as regulatory approval is achieved in that country.

It reminds me of the Fitbit Ionic Spo2 sensor that was supposed to be activated sometime in the future. I don't think it ever has been. You just never know about these things. However, Fitbit never gave a timetable either.

Or the Nokia scale that had an HRV function that was later removed. In fairness, Nokia offered full refunds if you returned the scale, and cash compensation if you wanted to keep it. Still, it shows that you can't necessarily assume that even *delivered* features will stay.

I’m wondering this too as living in uk and they won’t approve it at least for a couple of years.

Well I guess folks will have to find something else to complain about. Shouldn’t be too hard for some...

yellow screens
uneven screens that you can only see when you download and install a screen not meant to be on the device
screens that have blue shift when you look at them from the side
gaps that you can put a piece of paper in and get a whole 1/3 of the way in

Am I missing any?
