We've only created the apps that we think everyone uses every day...

Funny, because almost every pre-installed Apple app on my phone is relegated to the last page of my iPhone in a folder named Unusable. I say almost, because Apple won't let me change the default Mail or Browser app. If they did, Mail and Safari would be in there too. Both on iOS and Mac OS X, Apple needs to take a serious look at the state of their software. Their apps have all turned to crap. I know they can do better. I've seen it in the past. I don't know if it's Jonny Ive, Tim Cook or something else, but they had better get on the ball soon. Great hardware can only be as good as the great software that runs on it. I'm just not seeing the great software these days.

Do not understand the app at all.....no news ????? automatically 3 to 4 week old articles news clip. Also the original apple selection of news including former HP exec on first page... Useless app as far as ican see...... i do not understand the app...... Try to select one or two newspapers and mags... Still old articles. It is as if the supplier of the news want you to go to their web site instead of using the news app

eddy cue is really getting on my nerves. He lives and talks out of his apple-lala land, where his phone never runs out of battery, never runs out of storage, runs every app his little heart desires ... in other words, "it just works".

but that is not the real world. In the real world, jony "thin-a-mania" ive aspires to remove every un-apple component to shave off those pesky millimetres, battery life is terrible, 16GB phones and 5GB cloud storage are a joke ... in other words, "pay to have it work".

All their news? Can I find Apple Insider and Mac Rumors in the news app? How about KVR Audio? Forums? I don't care about most of the news agencies. I purposely avoid most USA-based stuff in fact. It's totally distorted for politics or selling commercial time slots. This is validated by former proper journalists and newscasters. The real news is dead.

Yes you can find macrumors etc

Does he really use that app for getting news for his life?

It's a good app, so why not?

Cannot stand Cue. Horribly unfunny little man.

That's a horrible unfunny comment.

#1 Drudge #2 Family #3 ParaPundit #4 VDare #5 Email Newsletters #6 Twitter. How are they not running into a censorship problem in China? Oh yeah, they're already censoring news on their end before the Chinese even have a problem with it. Screw Apple News

There's "la-la land" and then there's "exaggerated whiner land" where the sky is perpetually falling...

I appreciate their efforts, but I really don't care about news tailored to my interests. Rather get a run down of latest events no matter how I interested or not I may be.

"Apple is also working on a version of the app for China, Cue tells CNNMoney. When asked whether the company is running into censorship problems in the country, Cue says that it's not. Instead, Cue notes that Apple has a "great working relationship" in China"

Something doesn't pass the smell test here because Apple should be having censorship problems with China - unless they are just doing whatever censorship China wants. Google left the country because of Chinese demands...its crazy to think the Chinese wouldn't be requiring that Apple filter news displayed in the News App in the country (unless Apple is filtering it for the authoritarian government there - i.e. only allowing news into the app from approved sources).

I really think that is why so many are getting their news from Facebook and Twitter, seeing it from regular people as opposed to major organizations. The means have definitely changed, like how the Internet killed the newspaper/print, now folks can periscope, or live tweet/stream from the action/event. Press badge not required. How many news articles/stories have accompanying YouTube video shot by random bob?

What happened to skating to where the puck will be?
I totally avoid Facebook/twitter/whatever for news. Those are usually opinions or severely biased. Real News Agencies have some bias, but are usually not to bad and the writing is better. I read Al jazeera, BBC, NYT, WSJ. These give me a good balance since each has a different bias.

To be fair, I avoid Facebook and twitter altogether anyway. After playing with them, I do not actually find any value in these sites.

Yes but Facebook is now censoring "terrorist" posts which means any post that tells the truth about who's actually running things.
Huh? Look I don't like Facebook as much as the next person, but people can post whatever they like I there I see things daily on there that contracts the establishment completely.

I could care less what Apple adds, I just want the option to REMOVE the **** they do add.

If I could care less I would. You mean apps?

That is your interests. Find an outlet who gives you what you want an add that to Apple News. You get to choose what you see there.

Yes, you can. Search them

Obviously they only force bloatware on us that the world uses on a daily basis. I couldn't possibly live without:
Compass
Stocks
News
Voice Memos
Weather
Clock
Tips
Find Friends
Game Center
Videos
Podcast

All told I have never opened any of these apps. Were I to not have an Apple Watch, the apps associated with those I would never have a need for either. Not being able to delete these apps are the only reason I would ever consider jailbreaking my phone. They should do a poll of the iPhone users to see just what percent of people use any of the apps and give us a choice of whether or not we want them.

It's getting kind of boring that Apple seems to only implement its new "products" in North America and the rest of the world has to wait at least a year... I really don't get it anymore.

Few examples?
- Apple Pay (US, Canada --> took them over a year to bring it to the UK)
- iTunes Radio (didn't even make it to other parts of the world, now no-one needs it anymore because of Apple Music)
- Apple News App
- Personal PickUp (how long has it existed in the US? --> rolling out only now)
- iPhone Upgrade Programm (I am wondering how long it will take until it is available in other countries)
- to be continued...

It may be beautiful or whatever, but Twitter is a far better platform for news aggregation. You follow as many publishers as you like and, with a good client, you can even filter out undesired content in your stream before you even see it.
And for someone without Twitter or Facebook, Flipboard does a pretty good job too. I tried News but the lack of sorting and the weird refresh rate (outdated stories) made me ditch it.
