Definitely sticking with Apple Music and happy about it, after trying it and other major services for several months each. Since it's been launched it's worked quite well for me. I've had no problems with library, although I was already using iTunes Match so that may have smoothed the way. It's not perfect but I am assuming some of the limitations will be addressed over time and they are not show stoppers.

In addition to some of the other plus's people have mentioned, a big one for me is the level of integration, transparent syncing, etc. between streamed tracks and 'local' tracks you own. This was a huge issue for me with Spotify, who's support for local tracks is horrible.

Also, at least Apple seems to be intending to be more friendly to artists, which is great.

Why isn't there a firewall between a customer's own private music and this service? I can understand a read only capacity to inform musical suggestions, but why would it have .exe capacity? Makes no sense.

The only thing that could possibly explain this is that they've made a financial decision, expecting more subscriptions with a combined app vs. separate apps like everyone else has to do (Spotify, etc.) on iOS.

IMO, co-mingling their DRM'ed tracks with (in many cases carefully curated) libraries shows a patent disrespect for their customers' music.

Here's two questions I have for Eddy....why isn't there a swipe left gesture to remove songs from a playlist? Why do I have to scroll all the way to the top of the playlist and tap edit in order to delete something? Also on their little now playing bar at the bottom why is there no swipe left/right to get the next/previous song? The only way to get forward/back options is to tap on the now playing bar which brings it full screen. Being able to swipe left/right is a much better UX.

Talked with AppleCare maybe 20 times. Collected logs, discovered step to reproduce issues and it's still same crap as in the start.

I got all the way to the Executive team with all my data, logs, screenshots, tests, etc. The Person I was working with says she spoke to engineers and spoke to project managers at a very high level. My main problem was the DRM issue when songs were deleted or somehow replaced in my main library. When you redownload from the cloud, it comes down as a DRM restricted Apple Music file. This was after my initial experience with AM basically nuked my library and I had to rebuild it from my backup files. They said as of now, there's no fix but it is something they are "going to keep an eye on." So in return, I will keep an eye on AM and see if it gets better. But that's about it for now.

I haven't even tried it ... I am so damn annoyed with the music app in iOS 9. It feels like a huge step backward. Especially when on LTE, why did they remove the cloud download icon. It's so hard to find my music now, the UI is confusing.

Music streaming from music match is painfully slow and doesn't work a large percentage of time.

If they fix all of that I would consider trying to. But for music, in the current state. I have no intentions on giving Apple more money.

Perhaps if you were a famous blogger, Apple would dispatch an engineer to fix your iTunes library?

I think the rest of us are just plain out of luck.

Eddy Cue might have the worst fashion sense in the business world.

I believe a Financial Times article described his style as: "recently divorced dad going to a nightclub."

Revolutionary products like Apple Music take awhile to catch on in the consumer market.

Soon enough, everyone will be using Apple Music and the likes of Spotify and Pandora will go the way of the dinosaur.

What is revolutionary about Apple Music? Besides that it is automatically built into every iPhone.

i canceled my apple music subscription months ago, i never quit spotify. UI is miles ahead.
The UI has room to improve but I found Apple Music much better than Spotify for discovering new music and artists. I'm not going to pay for Apple Music (I could afford it, I just don't really need it) but I will definitely miss it. I'm reluctantly going back to Spotify but it's "free" so no complaints.

I love Apple but I cannot stand Eddy Cue, as I think he is under-qualified for his position at Apple.

How do you earn a SVP job at a top 5 most valuable company in the world by only holding a bachelor's degree in your field of study? One would think Apple would require at least a master's degree to fill the spot.

If you look at the services brought in under his watch, Siri is still mediocre, iCloud has been hacked due to lack of security authentications, Apple Maps was (and still is) a failure, Apple Music is mediocre, and Apple Pay has been way too slow to take off.

The fact that Tim Cook could terminate Scott Forstall and not Eddy Cue with him isn't logical.

You still can't create a new playlist from a song or album page? Yes you can. Always been able to. Click the 3 dots ... and there is 'add to playlist', select a new one. Or click the radio button to create a new radio station based on that album or song.
On iOS, "Add to Playlist" only shows existing playlists, and there is no option to create a new one.

The 'weird grayed out track issue'? It's simply showing you songs that you can purchase on iTunes, but because the artist not allowing Apple Music to, you can't stream them. Not an issue with Spotify

Perhaps, but Spotify has a better library overall. I've noticed lots of missing songs on Apple - especially newer releases from independent artists.

A degree means nothing (especially one that would be 30 yrs old). I don't know his background, but I'd assume he actually has EXPERIENCE. Granted the rest of your post is on target, but who cares what his college education is....

the "For You" tab is the worst crap ever and doesnt follow the most basic usability guidelines.

also releasing like 5 (?) tutorial videos speaks for itself i guess

These days the employment market has changed from 30 years ago. I would assume a SVP would have to have significant smarts and experience about the subject, and not just the experience alone. I feel like Eddy should just be a director or manager for computer programming and not a SVP of internet services and internet software.

Spotify is useless for me - why? It can never offer my entire music database and the biggest catalogue in the world's database in one app/spot. I can toggle between the two databases with ease. I've never paid for streaming before because my own database is too important and now I have both and can switch on a dime instead of opening two apps. This is how it is supposed to be done. (Match + Apple Music) I have invested too much in my own library over the years to have to feel compartmentalized. So I am so happy for this vision.

And for those who say they quit after 1 or 3 days? Yeah, I know who you are.. You're the sort of person who decides if you like an album after hearing clips of each song or each song only once.

I cancelled after day 1. It destroyed my library. I'm not in the iTunes needs to be split into a "million" Apps camp, I think it's fine the way it is. But Apple Music definitely needs to be it's own App and completely segregated from my primary iTunes music library like all the other music Apps.

Interesting because the only thing I prefer Apple Music for over Spotify is the ability to have it integrate with the rest of my iTunes Library and iTunes Match all in one place with perfect artwork, meta data and synced across all devices. If it was a separate app away from that and worked the way it does now (eg poorly) theres no way id keep it, I'd definitely just carry on using Spotify the way I had done for the last 5 years.

I will be staying with Apple Music, i tried Spotify twice and both times it put me off streaming music, Apple Music has made me love streaming music.

we pay for family package. Kids like it, and I can not wait what else it will bring. Spotify is not that great in Europe.

I'm no Eddy Cue fan, but before you start mandating masters degrees for executive positions at Apple, you might want to research what degree Steve Jobs held...

That's different. One is the founder, the other is simply an employee.

There's no difference.

Plenty of people with Masters degrees are worthless in the work space. Plenty of people with *just* college degree rise to the top of their fields. And there are even some that only finished high school to go on to do great things. I don't want this thread to go off topic but what a ridiculous statement to make. Education is important and key but getting a Masters degree is certainly not the only way to do that and rise in the ranks.

Eddy Cue specifically, I agree he probably isn't the right person for the job but not because of the piece of paper he has/doesn't have.
