It would be nice if Apple would let the press release the reviews today instead of waiting until Wed.

I think the pressure is on. iPad sales are on the decline. They gotta get ahead of this somehow. I just think the pricing sucks... 32gb to the Pro is as 16gb to the 6s. Majority of potential customers in the preorder thread is going for the 128gb.

I should add before people start flaming me.... I actually find the iPad Pro an interesting product and their take on the 'stylus' is pretty cool, with the whole way it detects the angle as well. Would I buy one? Not too sure, would have to try it first which I definitely will do when I see one.
It's priced a little too high though perhaps? But importantly it is priced below the Surface Pro and dare I say that iOS will scale better to the screen? I don't know as I haven't seen Windows 10 on a tablet in person?

But to go from 32GB straight to 128GB is nothing more than another Apple scam pure and simple.

As a long time Apple fan and user (128K Mac and Beyond) I purchased a Surface Pro 4 instead of waiting for iPad Pro. Why? Because a bigger iPad may appeal to some and the pen and keyboard are welcome additions, but there's no reason Apple couldn't have added those features to the existing 9.7-inch iPad. Besides at 12.9-inches I would have expected Apple to move into the Tablet full PC arena. Imagine a 12.9-inch iPad like tablet with Mac OS X instead of IOS and even better with an IOS emulator. If MS can give us a full PC at 12.3 inches why can't Apple give us a full Mac at 12.9?????

Unlike the "regular" iPads, you can only get cellular on the highest-storage tier--and that does drive the price up to >$1000. I really wish they wouldn't do that because I think this screen size would be very useful for me (I never thought I'd be able to use Word on the iPad, but that day has come), but I prefer cellular iPads so I can take them with me when I'm traveling. Not only that, but having a data connection means I could probably get by with less storage. I hope they don't continue this trend of only offering additional features with higher storage tiers like they have with some other products...

I agree. Indeed, if you buy it with Pencil, only the lowest tier is under $1000.

I do agree partly, the iPad Pro is very good at what it does for a niche market. And expensive – very much so.

But it's certainly not comparable with the Surface Pro. The SP runs a full Windows OS. The iPad Pro is still on iOS. Not to say the iPad Pro is bad, it's just targeting a tiny sector of the market (specifically graphic designers) whereas the SP is for the broader market.

They … sort of have. It's called the Retina MacBook.

I don't want OS X on a touchscreen. Despite my displeasure with a lot of Apple's decisions of late, I'm pleased they're sticking to their guns with mouse/keyboard interface for OS X, and touch for iOS. Touchscreen laptops are so gimmicky.

Again.. Mac OS X isn't tablet optimized. But I tend to believe as iOS matures & MacBook Pro gets thinner & thinner. They will be alike in more ways than not. I think at the direction they are going.. It's going to be viewed as if a customers wants touch optimized product go with a iOS device or if they value mouse input go with a Mac product.

Looked at a MacBook too. It's not a tablet and costs $500 more than Surface 4 Pro. Also, what about being able to run IOS apps within an emulator???

Well, they already have. They have a lot of them. I didn't realise that "full Mac" meant it should be a touchscreen tablet and run iOS apps within an emulator. In fact that's probably as far away from what most people would consider a "full Mac".

They're not going to put OS X with a touch interface, and that's a good thing. I guarantee most people can work far quicker if they learn the trackpad gestures and the keyboard shortcuts – rather than fumbling around, splattering their fingers all over a beautiful display.

I don't find touch gimmicky on a laptop - it's super useful. I now find myself reaching out to my large monitor at home before I remember it's not touch-enabled. There are numerous actions that are very natural to do with touch and I find being able to interact with my OS with both touch and mouse to be a great experience.

It worries me that Eddy Cue's biggest praise of the iPad Pro is its speakers.

Then we have Cook calling it a "first class audio experience." Such hyperbole from Cook only serves to cast doubt on the whole device. I don't think anyone is going to buy an iPad Pro for its speakers, and I think it unlikely that it will outperform my B&O speakers.

If only Steve Jobs was here to spellbind us with his enthusiasm. I'm quite sure that he would have tantalised us with a compelling case for it, just as he did when he introduced the iPad and iPhone.

I think there is a market for the iPad Pro, but let's chop the iPad line. All we need is one iPad mini, one iPad Air and one iPad Pro. Anything more is unfocused fluff.

Here's to the crazy ones.
I wonder why you have to be a pro to deserve freaking stereo on iPad, especially as it's touted as a great media consumption device.

Never got that.

But hey, iPad Air 3 surely will fix it. Two years after iPad Air 2's release....... o_O

It's useful if you want to press the screen to open an app, or maybe drag it around with your finger and have a little giggle. Beyond that I can't see how it's any quicker, accurate or more efficient than a good quality trackpad and a keyboard. Just the three-finger drag alone is considerably smoother and more precise than pressing your finger on the screen and wiggling a window around.

They really are gimmicky.

So after looking at the surface pro 4 and the iPad pro in the way they are sold i find micros of still has not learned lessons from apple. The surface pro 4 should come with 1 set amount of ram the most. Then pick your storage. This here are a bunch of options things is precisely why people pick apple over Microsoft in mobile. They trust apple as managed to figure out rightly or wrongly what the device needs for a given experience. I just feel Microsoft keeps shooting them selves in the foot with this insistence of excess choice.

I am buying a surface pro for a end user who has gone all IPad for there day to day activities. They are excited about a larger screen for video consumption and the ability to run two full size iPad apps at a time.

I think apple know people want a larger iPad over a OS X touch screen.

I like apple as much as the next apple guy but aside from the apple pencil I'm really curious on how the "really big iPad" is going to be marketed.

Let's see about the "Touch Interface under Mac", Apple gives us LaunchPad under Mac OS X which is designed for a touch interface. iTunes and most of the iXXXX Mac applications run as full screen apps and would work just fine under a touch interface. The Windows and menus are not any different than MS-Windows and could quite easily be manipulated with a zoom and finger touch or a "pixel-perfect" Stylus/Pen. Also, you can add a bluetooth mouse, just like any other Mac laptop.

And yes Apple zealots, Jobs IS talking about tablet stylus.

It's all just marketing folks.
If you're going to call people zealots, how about not intentionally misinterpreting Jobs. Show us where he was talking about an optional peripheral for *drawing*...

i love all the major iOS products but this one??? You still have to touch the screen to switch apps while holding the pencil. Using the iPad with an attached keyboard is annoying. I can't think of why the experience with the pro is any different.
Why is touching the screen to switch apps so bad? What, is your hand 90 feet away from the screen while you're using the stylus? :) It's actually very convenient to use the 4 finger swipes to switch apps or to bring up the app switcher, even while holding a stylus in your hand.
