You should learn how to use those Mac's then. Having one, big run on sentence is pretty nasty grammar/sentence structure...

Also, everything you said is subjective. You're just regurgitating what you've read on other non-Apple sites. Nice try though...but really, trolling is old...

Apple can make a beast of a phone, and better than the Nexus-Prime. But then why didn't they ? The iPhone4S is just a re-released iPhone4 with the least minor of improvements, but keeps their manufacturing costs low, to make the most money. It says they are more concerned with making the highest profit, than actually producing the worlds best up to date device. And all these new features in iOS5 could have easily been made for iOS4 last year, and should have, they are playing catch up now.

I understand in business you are in it to profit, but would have been mind blowing if they came out with the iPhone5 like the mockups showed. Oh well, maybe next year, but now since no new iPhone5, I am heavily looking at the next Nexus device, as are many other people. But if the new iPhone had the 4" screen...thinner and lighter...LED notification light...Widgets...I would definitely go back to Apple, but for the iPhone4S, no way

Apple have released a phone, that has just about caught up with the opposition
How is the 4S "just about caught up" to the opposition? What opposition? The new Nexus phone, which doesn't exist yet, is the first phone that actually looks like it might compete with the iPhone 4. So right now, at this very moment, the 1+ year old iPhone 4 is still more advanced than anything else on the market. Sure, the 4S doesn't advance it the way a lot of people want (moar screen!!!!!!!!), but technically, the 4 and 4S are still more advanced than anything available.. until that new Nexus releases.

So Apple established a lead over a year ago and maintained that lead up until the almost-released Nexus, at which point Apple will be roughly on par and stay on par until something new comes out to beat the Nexus/iPhone4S. Apple isn't the one playing catch up here. They just alternate between being ahead and being even. Everyone else alternate between being behind and being even.

I would say this is def a subjective opinion.

I've compared SuperAMOLED against the iPhones IPS display and for brightness/outdoor readability I prefer the IPS.

I also don't like how AMOLED can get screen burn in. Some people like the vibrant colors of the AMOLED though so it really just comes down to user preference on which screen is better...

Good point; IPS and SAmoled displays are different. I was focusing on resolution, however

Editorial: 1 reason why the 4S is just as competitive as the the other iPhones:

Because it's running iOS.

Conclusion
.... It’s also the first time Apple has released a new iPhone (no, we’re not counting Verizon’s iPhone 4) since Android became the U.S.’s number one smartphone OS. The iPhone 4S’s incrementally improved hardware will not make converts of Android users - ...

Same old lame comparison...comparing an iPhone (hardware) to an Android (software OS).

Why don't you compare an iPhone to a specific Androidphone (running Android)?

People need to buy a piece of hardware...and there is not one piece of Android hardware that sells as well compared to an iPhone. So clearly not one Androidphone has been a winner yet.

Fare enough to compare iOS to Android: more phone hardware running Androids than iOS. But compare a piece of hardware to hardware.

So it that regard, the iPhone 4S will probably outsell any single Android powered phone...as is currently the case for the 4.

iPhone 4 is the number one selling smartphone...not any single Android phone.

Siri is a good idea, but it is not Apple's creation, they bought it off a third party developer, and time will tell if it truly works like the advertisements show, sounds too good to be true.

As a previous poster said, Google bought Android. Argument nullified.

I think every release I've seen something similar posted.

But the sales just keep increasing.

Crying is not gonna solve anything. Only if we let apple know that we don't agree with their actions will they change. This is why I'm not buying the iPhone 4s and I truly hope apple does something amazing for the next iPhone or I'll start looking for a new mobile OS

Ok, so it's a 4S dude. If you can't see the pattern by now, u need to learn it.

3G-->3GS
4-->4S

I'm willing to bet my left nut the next iPhone will hurt the game. Either get a clue and be patient or just go buy an Android. Pretty simple.

+1

And what does not creating something have to do with anything. If Apple saw fit to buy it, then it must be Apple enough.

iPhone 4S maybe not the best update, and I would love to get another phone... but there is nothing, nothing that came close to iPhone in quality and usability.

- Retina display is still the best and highest quality screen available

Anything else?
You take any 4+" screen out there and scrunch it down to 3.5" and it will look as good as or better than the iPhone's.

If you're old enough to remember watching a 12" color TV you were amazed at how crisp and clear it was. Same thing here: X number of lines or pixels scrunched down to a tiny shape look amazing. No one else, though, is interested in producing a 3.5" mini screen these days, so Apple has it all to themselves. If they really wanted to compete they'd reproduce that 'magic' on a 4" screen and really show the competition something. This year is all about coasting, though.

The fact that Siri was removed from the App Store and will go "offline" on October 15/16th makes for a very strong case that it is, indeed, a gimmick. I'm sure after the 14th the jailbreak community will be able to port the functionality to iPhone 4.

Apple didn't just buy an app. They bought a trove of intellectual property and some hardcore human talent arising from deep academic and defense industry research into natural-language interaction between humans and computers. The Siri "app" was a mere proof of concept. Development of the public-facing version halted as soon as Apple took an interest in buying Siri. I have faith that in the 16 intervening months Apple has done a spectacular job of moving voice control from "gimmick" to "gee I can actually use this."

I may be wrong about Siri and I have admittedly high hopes. I've been wrong before. But the fact that you don't think Siri is game changing--never having played with it--doesn't contribute to an argument that Apple is losing its competitive edge.

As for the rest of the claims refer to PhoneI.

- Retina display is still the best and highest quality screen available
- developers will make even better apps. Who doesn't want better apps?
- 4G is a complete battery killer.
- You judged Siri without using it at all
- iOS5 blows Android OS away. I have both, its not even close

Anything else?

The only point I agree with in the article is about Verizon and Sprint. Honestly, why would anyone buy a new 4S and use slow CDMA 3G for two more years that can't even surf and talk at the same time? The HSPA+ upgrade for AT&T makes a lot of sense since you get faster speeds. This is an Internet device not just a phone and data access should mean a lot to the average iPhone user.

specs rah rah rah rah rah rah rah rah rah rah

here THIS is one of the compelling reasons iPhone trumps. let me know the next time amoled, 4G, or NFC changes someone's life.

it's not what you have but what you do with what you have.

if anyone can look at how siri works and not be amazed, you were probably one of those that would've thought mobile phones were a fad.

Because we don't all live in large cities and never leave. AT&T's coverage sucks where I live.

Also, guess what? You can be pulling 7mbps on AT&T and my Verizon iPhone pulling 2mbps is still going to open pages just as fast? Why might you ask? I am glad you did. It's called ping. Verizon's ping is faster than AT&T's. It's all about the ping.

I should list 5 reasons why I think this thread is stupid and pointless but i'll resist.

I totally disagree. The iPhone 4S offers massive improvement over the 4. The dual-core CPU, LPDDR2 (vs LPDDR) RAM -- might even be 1GB, SGX543MP2, camera, etc., it's significantly better in every front.

- The Retina Display Is Old News
- Dual-Core Will Excite Developers, No One Else
- Lack Of 4G Will Hurt Sales At Verizon And Sprint

- iOS 5 Is A Big Step Forward For The iPhone, But Compared To Android? Not So Much

Conclusion
I think that we can objectively say for the first time about a new iPhone that Apple has come up short compared to the competition. It’s also the first time Apple has released a new iPhone (no, we’re not counting Verizon’s iPhone 4) since Android became the U.S.’s number one smartphone OS. The iPhone 4S’s incrementally improved hardware will not make converts of Android users - and neither will the new features in iOS 5. That much we feel confident in saying.

I'm coming from a 3GS, almost bought the 4 when it came out. I wanted HD video, but once I saw no one could hold the phone still to save their life, it made the video pretty much unusable. The new anti shake feature no one is talking about should be a great improvement. This as well as new low light capability. I just hope the audio is decent. Coming from the 3gs this will be a big step up for me.

Why is it that even the best Android phones still feel a little clunky when doing things like scrolling across the main screen or using pinch-zoom?

I think it's funny that Android fans like to point out that the new (insert model here) Android phone will be ".4 GHz faster" and have "3 more megapixels in the camera", and "it will blow away the iPhone because is has unparalleled specs". Then you play around with it and find that the UI still feels clunky and the picture quality kind of stinks and the apps are generally unrefined.

Don't get me wrong, I love certain parts of Android (widgets, music management, navigation, etc). But I could care less what the specs are if the quality of the experience still sucks.

- Next week at Google's big event, they will announce the Nexus-Prime with same "retina" display type but on a 4.3" screen.

- Google is also announcing their own version of "Siri", will have a pet or icon type mascot on screen to do all things Siri does, fully integrated into the Android OS

And Andriod is not a Google creation, they bought it off a third party developer. So what is your point?

- The Retina Display Is Old News

That fact that I made a bundle in the stock market years ago is old news. Why is old news bad?

- Dual-Core Will Excite Developers, No One Else

Interesting. The one thing I really wanted was a faster processor. Not for gaming. I can play 3D games flawlessly. I just wanted that last bit of smoothness to the overall UI. Done.

- Lack Of 4G Will Hurt Sales At Verizon And Sprint

I suppose.

- Siri Is Great And All, But Let’s Face It, It’s Mostly A Gimmick ( was not Apple's creation )

And this detracts from the experience?

- iOS 5 Is A Big Step Forward For The iPhone, But Compared To Android? Not So Much

Considering iOS was [arguably] already a better experience to begin with, "a big step forward" is significant.
