Hi,

I just upgraded to Sequoia 15.4

Now my eGPU freezes and turns off, after pressing the power button. It was working perfectly fine with 15.3.2

Any suggestions?

Hi Patrice. Please inform if you encounter issues.

Thanks.
Just updated and for now, no freezing with my Breakaway Puck RX5500XT. Which Sonnet eGPU are you using?

When you write "pressing power button", you mean the one on the computer or the eGPU? My eGPU doesn't have any power button so I assume you have another model?

I reverted to 15.3.2 same problem.

Thanks Patrice. I’ll keep trying to fix it.
Maybe something to do with the T2 firmware update (don’t know if there was one however between 15.3.2 and 15.4)?

You could also try an older MacOS (Sonoma, Ventura)… I understand it worked before with 15.3.2? Strange…

I think there was a T2 update. I was having problems with BridgeOS-related kernel panics and I upgraded from 15.3.2 to 15.4 to see if that would help. It did not. But, I did notice that there was another BridgeOS version number.

For the record, my Firmware & BridgeOS versions are 2069.80.3.0.0 (iBridge: 22.16.13060.0.0,0) and I'm running 15.3.2.

I don't know if downgrading to 15.3.2 will downgrade the firmware and BridgeOS. My guess is that it won't.
can we expect Apple to release further Sequoia updates till macOS 16 that modify the firmware? I mean, Intel Macs should work with eGPUs.

Go for it and report back!
Good luck for OP, I searched for previous iBridge bundle… and I think (maybe) it could be buried inside the 15.3.2 installer. Now, how to extract it and restore it via DFU, out of my skills!

In my case, I repeat, no troubles with latest EFI and T2 firmware. In fact, it was already updated since a while when I got (I don’t know how, don’t ask me, it came from the AppStore) a previous 13.7.5 Ventura build installed.

I don’t even know if OP will be able to do anything at this point as Apple stop signing precedent T2 firmware one week after the new one is issued…

Now my Treebleet and RX 580 are not working. I haven't upgraded yet. Did you figure anything out, OP?

Can you see your eGPU in system settings? I still can, even though my RX 580 is not working.

Sounds like it's the big box one that stops working

I have the 550W one with an AMD Vega card in it. To be clear, I haven't tried 15.4 (or Sequoia at all) yet so am grateful to get forewarning from this thread.

Actually, I think my issue was a loose thunderbolt cable. I'm still on 15.3.2! And I'm still scared to updated to 15.4 . . .
