Hey, someone can help me with this?
I got a mid 2012 MacBook Pro (non retina) with Intel HD graphics 4000 and I'm thinking of buying an egpu for render and gaming, but I have thunderbolt 1 and I don't know if it'll perform well for gaming.
So I'll be able to play games on 60fps or it'll be better to build a pc? (I prefer the egpu so I don't have to build a pc and can continue using my Mac)

Thunderbolt 1 is likely to be a bottleneck with any high-end GPU. eGPU enclosures are fairly expensive and it might just be better to build a custom PC.

I agree. You should really build a PC. I'm thinking of doing the same thing, and making it a Hackintosh.

Also remember that an eGPU cannot be used on the built-in screen, you'll need a separate display for the eGPU to output to.

I had this dilemma a while back...just build the PC.

The good news is that gaming on Macs is becoming more and more feasible. The bad news is that we aren't quite there yet. One day. Soon, hopefully.
