I don't know about you guys, but I was following this thread, and eagerly awaiting a notification to order a vapor....

And then its just kinda died off.. I'm not interested at all anymore after all their bullsh:apple:T

I actually OWN one and here's what I have to say:

Hi guys,

Fortunately I was able to order a vapor element case because I got one of their emails with a code on it and what not. Anyways, I received mine about a few days ago and here's what I have to say:

1. Antenna Issue - It's mixed. Seriously. sometimes I have full bars... sometimes I don't. Who knows. I can't tell you it's perfect nor can I tell you it's horrible.

2. Headphone Jack, Sim Card, Dock Connector, Etc... - I know that many of you know that this case is fairly deep. It is annoying that really for me, only the apple 30-pin connector cable works. The headphone jack is quite a hassle because only a few of my headphones fit it in. (my Bose and Apple ones). The Sim Card slot I do like very much. If I'm ever needing to switch phones for the day to a crappy one if I'm going skiing (or something like that), I'll simply pop out my sim, and place it in an adaptor I bought from www.microsimshop.com.

3. Feel - It Feels great. It's light, and the grips help a lot, though they may feel odd in your pocket.

4. Looks - Everyone who says it's beautiful, well, it is. It's truly the best looking case I've ever had or seen. I chose not to order the Carbon Fiber backing just because of the adhesive that you use to stick it on.

5. Other cons: I chose to buy the Black/Silver one and I feel like if I was to drop it on say, asphalt, maybe some of the decals that say "vapor" or "element" would come off... I don't know though.

Secondly, getting it on and off is annoying. Having to screw it on and off... If you simply want to clean your iphone, that involves a search & rescue for the tool to remove the screws, then unscrewing, then re-screwing it on.

All in all, would I recommend this? Yes. But is it really worth nearly 90 dollars? Probably not... but hey... It does indeed turn heads.

Thanks

Thanks! Good review.....never mind the bars, I've given up trying to figure them out I just want to know with the vapor if it drops calls, has lousy gps or internet - how about it?

That sounds more like it should be in the "pro" category... ;)

I do not have a skin on mine, I will try it once I am home Tuesday night. Hopefully that will save the GPS. I really do want this case to work!

GlenE, at this point my GPS is useless with the vapor on it. My voice and data quality appear to be unaffected though.

Has anyone who canceled their order actually gotten their money back without having to file a complaint with Paypal or a chargeback through their credit card? Has anyone actually seen their money refunded through Paypal? I know they are slow.

A skin isn't going to do much of anything to help your GPS. The issue you're describing sounds like attenuation caused by surrounding the antenna with aluminum. If you think back to the original iPhone, there's a reason that the antenna area wasn't covered with the metal casing.

Unless the issue is direct contact with the aluminum, which seems very doubtful, then putting a skin on the antenna isn't going to do anything.

I doubt very much the case is touching the antenna. You simply cannot shroud an antenna in metal.

The more I read about attenuation the more I wonder how anyone (myself included) could have thought this was a good idea.

Off to eBay it goes.

I saw that a lot of people had an interest in the Lucky Labs spetra skin after watching Larry Greenburg's review of the Element case. It comes in about 12 different colours and cost 9.99 for a 3 pack. I found a coupon code online and you get it for half price just 4.99. I just placed another order and it totally works. no matter how much you order. I ordered some back plates too. Go to www.theluckylabs.com create a log in and when you go to pay it has a place to enter your code. The code is cc7c0cb927

The problem with selling them on ebay, there's been a flood of them and it will only continue as more people receive theirs. I'm apparently receiving a black/red one this week (though I don't want it and tried to cancel it for a full two weeks before it was shipped). I'll probably end up selling it on ebay as well, but I'm not terribly hopeful about getting even my full $100 back yet alone much profit.

Hey SchneiderMan. How does one get to be a Demi God? This Minion status is depressing. Nobody to squash n smash:D
Do you guys accept 3rd party out of state cheques?
Oh, almost forgot...... All hail SchneiderMan.

"Demi-god" is the title you get if you donate. But it only lasts for a year.

Not only are they not refunding order cancellations, they are not responding to PayPal disputes -- they don't answer the inquiries. This I have never seen, from any company. I imagine if it continues PayPal will drop them -- at least I hope so.

Chargeback is the only way to go. That, or taking delivery and trying to sell it to some port sap on Ebay. But that won't last forever as more and more cases get dumped on Ebay and the word spreads about signal issues.

Ivyskin got such a bad rap from being late with delivery of a $15 item. These guys took over $100 of my money for over a month, never shipped my case, did not answer repeated emails, did not respond to my PayPal dispute, and have not yet replied to American Express about the chargeback. As far as I'm concerned the case could be made out of solid gold -- Element Case does not deserve to be in business. And if they keep this up, they won't be.
