Good choice on the Rugged. I hope you like it as much as I like mine. I'm actually getting used to the feel of the phone in the complete Rugged case. It doesn't even feel big anymore. And makes it feel better to hold onto when playing games. I've always felt that the iPhone 4 was a little too thin to hold comfortably anyway.

I ordered a Switcheasy Iphone nude this morning I can track it this afternoon.

And no I wasn't nude when I ordered it. The case is called Nude.
 
why are people taping non conductive tape right about the antenna?

later complaining about reception ...

i know you want to isolate the antennas so they dont connect and signal drops... but in the same way ... the more you tape over them the less signals can reach the antenna ...

Most tape is radio transparent - i.e. they do next to nothing for impeding signal strength. However, metal and carbon fiber are NOT - so using tape (which is) to create a gap / isolate the conductive bits - helps.

Speaking of - ZORNET - what's the verdict? Did it help any? Have you tested (with an DMM) the case to see if it's isolated?

I'll <3 this thread forever. It's been so entertaining (on so many levels) It just won't die. :)

Yeah, Your review really helped. It seems to me the combo kit for 69.95 is a better deal than the otterbox for 49.95 as you get an extra holster so you can have the Iphone on your hip in rugged mode or slider II mode. Plus you get two ways to use your phone ( medium protection or heavy duty protection )verses 1. That's pretty sweet. They sent me a coupon for 10% so I saved 7.00 bucks , so it only cost 13 bucks more than the otterbox. I've had 6 of just their holsters in the past and they make an excellent and durable product.

That was your first mistake. Always place your orders in the nude. It gives you stuff to do while your'e waiting for them to approve your credit card. Oh, always sign for your orders in the nude too. The delivery dudes are so eager to leave they forget about charging you for taxes and duty and pay for it themselves because they don't want to come back. I haven't had a chance to try this on a chick yet....................:D

Argh, I wanna order already my case already but I still haven't got an email yet. I see that the have a new graphite option, looks sweet. Is this a renamed gunmetal or is gunmetal still a option?
 
Any idea what grade of aluminum does Element use for their Vapor cases?
aircraft -grade doesnt say much?;-)
as i understand the 7050 is one of the highest grade or stroger..thus more durable....

that's what the people at Atomiciphone.com are claiming to use for their cases...
 
Hi all, I was part of group #5 so on Sep 2nd I ordered one of the "extreme metals" cases.

The thing is, a week ago I got a shipping notification "A package was shipped to you on 09/08/2010 via U.S. Postal Service..." but when I go to their site to check my shipping status it says "Awaiting Shipment".

Who am I supposed to believe now? I'm guessing they haven't shipped it yet...

I'm in the exact same boat! Got the shipping mail, but "awaiting shipment" on site. I'm just trying to forget about it for now, will give another week before I start panicking.

what a load Shi**t, with all that crap load of equipment they still give false readings, I have the case and even indoors in a thick concrete building I only lose 1 bar !

I find it disturbing that they are giving a bad rep to a fine working case, even if their customer service is crap, they should not make false accusation about alleged signal loss

maybe its the other way around. because you don't have crap load of equipment you cannot see that the ability of the iphone to hold on to signal has drop by 99%? I also believe they test for all kinds of signal not just radio signal.

You base your obversation by bars which are not only inaccurate, it also tell you nothing about the actual strength of the signal, phone's ablity to acquire signal etc.

granted it looks like they did their testing in an area with poor coverage but the same handicap also apply when iphone+vapor combo is in an area with better coverage. Just that the result isn't as severe as "no service"

so you say that even if I have four bars and can make calls, surf the internet and do all the things on the iPhone, is make-believe because even if it is showing 4 bars I have no bars and it is all a figment of my imagination ?

were you, by any chance, the first to cry out about the Antennagate, and is looking for a new victim :rolleyes:

no in fact i'm the firm believer that the antenna on the ip4 is a faulty design but not the the extend of the media outcries.

same deal with the vapor. It is OBVIOUSLY a faulty and not well thought out design. Scientifically proven to decrease signal strength. However experience should vary with location as is the iphone antenna problem.

This is so that people with ALREADY poor coverage and signal problem does not purchase the vapor and than cries about how they have no signal.

I have 0 problem with naked iphone dropping calls because fido/rogers proven strong and great coverage up here. Does my naked iphone drop bars when hold wrong? Yes. Does it do it to the extend where i will lose all kind of signal and be rathers phoneless? Absolutely not.

Do I want a vapor or one of its similiar built with metal case? Yes because it looks amazing. Will I get it? Yes because where i'm i don't have signal issues already and thus i should be having similiar experience as you, the case will affect little to nothing of my day to day usage.


I just take that to mean that my signal is 99% stronger than the location shown in the video. :p Did a little background search and the company shown is de facto testing expert in mobile industry. So yes, there testing does mean sumthing.

what I don't understand is how can they test with zero signal ?
and comparing 26,8 dBm and 7,7 dBm is around 30% signal loss and not 99% signal loss ?

I am also in group #5 waiting for an extreme metals case.... same boat as you guys. Got my shipping info notification, but still awaiting shipment on my order status.

As several people pages ago stated (including myself), 3dBm increase or decrease is equivalent to a doubling or a halving in the power. A bar - especially a drop from 5 bars to 4 bars can be a drop of over 20dBm. Simple as that. Here is a rudimentary link:

Have you run any quantitative comparisions to verify the effectiveness of
these modification? Just curious.

Same situation. If you also look on ebay people have already received their's and are using real pictures aside from stock photos.
