Tim Cook is a competent CEO. Perhaps even more competent than Jobs at the job of CEO. But Apple is a corporation. A corporation exists for the profit of its shareholders. It doesn’t exist to “benefit society” or anything like that. It survives if it makes good products/services and sells them at fair prices that earn them adequate profits.
And Apple certainly didn’t start out or has ever aimed to be anything but a for-profit business.

Demanding that Apple go against their primary interest, making as much money as possible, by forcing them to blindly support Twitter in order to “support free speech” is inherently communist.

Apple belongs to its shareholders, not to Elon or any other individual or group of individuals.

You can’t just force then to go against their own interests because their policies don’t fit your particular political agenda.

Elon just wants another Truth Social. He should have bought that instead instead trying to force Twitter and it’s many advertisers to go against their own interests.

But of course he resorts to tugging at everyone’s emotions when bullying every corporation into submitting to his lunacy didn’t work.

The things I would do for this to be a real interaction on Twitter 💀

More users with less ads means more cost with less revenue. Most of those new registrations are alt-right maga folks, no one wants to advertise to jingoistic right wing nationalists except the people in their own echo chamber - and I dont think the my pillow guy is a decent substitute for Apple re:advertising dollars
So true.

I mean, even Elon is confirming this.

Otherwise he wouldn’t be whining so intensely for “free speech” and how it’s being suppressed (that is he’s struggling to keep lights on at Twitter).

Funny how badly he needs those terrible leftists money but still wants to belittle them at every opportunity.

Those accounts did nothing to be suspended, Elon himself replied to some far right neo-Nazi’s who lied about those people and Elon without even looking into whether their claim were actionable banned them. And at the same time he’s brought back all sorts of vile people who should have stayed banned.

You can look up Elons own tweets, I’m not giving those people anymore publicity, and from the looks of things, I think they have have quit a few fans here.
Okay, so when asked for evidence supporting your claims, your answer is: “well you can look it up, i dont want to give attention to the thing i brought attention to”.

Apple is a well run company with high values
for Freedom ,free speech and Justice
Apple also advertises as they see fit and in places that are not under siege by others
Dont buy the window dressing. Companies are out to make money. Apple removing the charger is first and foremost to save them money; helping the environment from waste is a convenient consequence.

Apple is a company with high values for profit, and crafting an image of ‘freedom’ and ‘justice’ is part of their strategy for ensuring profitability. (Positive reputation has non-zero value).

Twitter is a company with high values for profit, which it historically has not been able to achieve. Elons strategy is doing things Elons way - which entails things that seem impulsive, outlandish, and often “not popular”. Thats how its always been at his businesses.

Correction: Facebook did release a phone and it sucked so bad that it makes the Metaverse look successful! HTC made it for them and they were sour because it was draining the battery in just a couple of hours. It was constantly sending back your location to their servers. Zuck's response to the phone owners? Carry an extra battery.
Holy shirt I didn’t know this that’s amazing

The Twitter argument boils down to whether or not there should be hate speech on a social media forum. It’s amazing how many people will defend allowing hate speech. I don’t know why anyone in our society would think this is a good idea. We already knows it not about free speech so why even sit here and argue FOR hate speech?

Easy. Hate speech is okay as long as it’s not directed to them. If that is the case they’ll go crazy threatening that person into silence. Nothing as hypocritical as these people, of which I’ve seen plenty here unfortunately.

I don’t see anyone here arguing in favor of hate speech. The problem actually boils down to the definition of hate speech. And for a lot of people it means “opinion that differs than mine”.

Maybe it would be best if Apple dropped all social media apps and create their own. Facebook has a toxic history and Instagram has been responsible for teenage girls and young women having a poor body image leading to depression. TikTok has the shadow of the Chinese government over it. Twitter of course has been a cesspool for far too long.
They already tried with Ping...

Like Apple is a private company and can do whatever it wants ...
Both of you are wrong, both apple and Tesla are actually publicly traded companies.

And if Apple does remove Twitter from the App Store without a real reason other than “space man bad”, they are going to run into lawsuits and anti trust talk again.

All we have as a source for that is Musk himself, Apple has not commented on it, nor is there anything else indicating Apple has threatened doing as much. Now if you choose to believe Musk above anything else, that's your prerogative. But that doesn't mean it's actually true.

Not sure why I followed him in the first place, maybe because I'm South African, but I've now gone as far as to un-follow him and mute any further tweets from him, I just don't care, never did to be honest.

I followed the guy too, to see what the hype of him was. When I even was at least periodically active on Twitter. I thought he had some intelligence actually.
Not that I believe he is a dumbhead now, but he’s just a narcissist craving for constant attention. Nothing more to it on his rant on free speech.
Free food supplies for narcissistic egomaniacs.

But sure, everyone have their right to express themselves. But please, we also have the right to say no to what we have no interest to listen to also.

I have my opinion on Apple and Cook too at times. ☺️
But I still love Apple and respect Tim for his good work.

Musk keeps on doing his best drunk uncle at the holidays impression.

You can have your platform and whatever rules about speech you want. Why is Apple or any other company required to advertise on it? That's not what free speech means at all, you bloviating pile of gas.
Every thing sold in an Apple store is linked to Apple. Actions of 3rd party manufacturers that build Apple products are linked to Apple. Even though they build Google and Samsung products too. With the darkness that has been revealed in recent years, having a massive social network on your platform without moderation controls would allow Apple’s name and brand to be attached to anything.

If he allows the behavior that the former President exhibited before, during, and after the organized attack on the capital, they will have no choice. Apple and Tesla are publicly Traded meaning they are responsible for protecting their brand, profitability and most importantly, stock price from damage. Apple supporting any and everything that would cause irreparable damage and severe lossless for their shareholders.

I feel so good being on the right side of history about this guy. I said it years ago when made up a story about one of the guys that help rescue those kids in the cave. Elon is an idiot, he has always been. But not only is he a idiot, but looney too.
Well, this is precisely how he looks. But, as per this article, he admitted that he has an autism spectrum disorder which explains to a great extend his eccentric behavior. What I don't understand is people seeing in him a leader, a hero or the Messiah. The man has issues of psychiatric order.

There absolutely are. But I won’t link to them and give them that voice.

Who has even suggested Apple would do that. Certainly not Apple. Oh, yeah. It was Musk. Without anything to back it up. He’s just trolling.
