Great article on the verge on way this is going to be a challenge to make the right wing idiots happy.

Why are racists celebrating? Would love to engage.
What racists are celebrating? I haven’t seen any racist remarks on here, so who are you referring to? The only celebrating I see is that Twitter will hopefully allow opinions and beliefs to be posted, no matter how offensive they are so long as they don’t incite violence. To live and breathe is offensive to people in 2022. You literally cannot have an opinion and stand for anything without offending someone.

Lolololol. You actually think Greta Thunberg was the beginning of climate legislation?
She is the poster child of the whole movement. And she started the whole "Fridays for future" protests on her own. In the beginning she was protesting alone in Stockholm. After media reported about her, more people joined in Stockholm and then it spread around the world. Millions of students who just needed a reason not to attend school ones a week.

This is good. Next on the list is facebook, reddit, and then google. It's really sad that people from western nations literally lose their minds when someone like "orange man" was tweeting mean things or when some loser tweets some racsit stuff on social media. They act as if their humanity and very existence is about to come to an end. Meanwhile these very same social media companies have collerbated with nations like China and Iran to censor and block information in exchange for guaranteed market share. Yeah these social media companies are heroes for Demoooocracy....totaly worth sceaming in agony and pounding the concert floor in pain when someone like Elon Musk takes over. You all belong in adult day care centers.

I have no idea what you’re talking about. If you were claiming god exists, I’d also ask for scientific proof but this is not the topic at hand. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
This is because you are not supposed to have any idea. You are supposed to get offended by certain things and I will have to see how I can "write" this process into a scheme of things and perhaps capitalize on it.

Hate speech is "public speech that expresses hate or encourages violence towards a person or group based on something such as race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation".

Except what we hear is "silence is violence" and "words are violence". Therefore, the bar for what constitutes "violence" has been lowered to point that makes it impossible to actually define the term "hate speech".

If I call someone who gets their period, a woman, there will be a subset of people who call that violent and claim I put people in "danger". Those are bleeding people, not women. Then a bigger subset of people from the same political strife, who likely agree this has gone too far, but are too afraid to say/do anything but virtue signal and pile on in an effort win social media capital. It's like BF Skinner's pigeons on steroids, pecking away at civilization.

So now it is impossible to define hate speech and violence. You can go down the line with racist, fascist, islamophobia, xenophobe, etc. Words matter, reconstituting their meaning simply to suit a social agenda or narrative means you lose the one thing unites human beings and that's language. This has been a downward spiral that's been going on for a decade.

But the argument seems to be: certain things are incorrectly labeled "hate speech", therefore "hate speech" is useless as a category. Isn't there some kind of middle ground? Can't overt hatred be banned but, say, saying men have penises (something I would agree is not hate speech) not be banned? Why does it always have to be the most ridiculous definition applied? There's a middle between "anything goes" and "ban everything I don't like". There are some things that most people (apart from hateful extremists) regard as hateful. Couldn't that be moderated?

I agree with you, but that conversation needs to happen in the democratic party, specifically the cultural left of the party. I wouldn't hold my breath though, because it's the wing the mainstream democrats are terrified of. It's the wing where strict orthodoxy must be adhered to or they're going to start beating you over the head with whatever label they want to apply to you.

I could say the same thing on the right for anti-Semitism. Not every critique of Israel is a de facto shot at all Jewish people. In that respect both sides think they're so smart pointing to "dog whistles" and while that may be the case in some instances, it's been overplayed.

There seems to be this preconception among right wing types that Twitter has been against them. I don’t see that to be honest.

If I put my time line on to ‘Home’ rather than ‘Latest’ I get right wing tweet after right wing tweet despite predominantly following centre and vaguely left-ish people.

What I think it seems to be, is that most centre and left leaning people place a lot of importance into kindness, caring for others and being accepting of others who make different life choices.

Where that tolerance ends is being intolerant of intolerance.

And that’s where centre and left leaning people tend to end up in conflicts with right wingers on social media. The intolerance shown to people who have different views is intolerable to me and many others.

However, for some right wing people, they are simply intolerant of people who are different to them. Whether it be race, religion, gender, sexuality, whatever. So they come up against moderation rules much more frequently because they are simply much less tolerant of others.

Just look at the pass time of “owning the libs” as being a source of glee. I mean, which good person takes pleasure out of the displeasure of others?

Man, Elon and his simps are super cringe...

but you do you guys...

Like I (and many others) will cringe when I see a Tesla and the owners's face... as they roll around thinking they are the coolest people ever. 🤮 Dude who stole money from his father's emerald mines (which stole from Africa, but who cares right guys??), grifted his way to a seat of power and money, had a temper tantrum and accused a man of being a P.... for wanting to rescue some kids... made an embarassing "submarine" missile thing which was a total flop... along with his stupid car tunnel with led lights. (POGGERS SSO KEWL GUUYS1!!) And his intention to make.... a subway? oh but it's not called that it's cooler cuz it has his "cool" cars guys, totally. 😎

what an embarrassment of a man... ANd for someone who is so "cool" with free speech and verbal attacks, he sure got angry when that man who wanted to save the trapped children clapped back... sure wanted to remove his free speech. Just saying... what a sad little hypocrite. Also a bad father who has kids and forgets about them pretty much... oh that doesn't matter, that's "cool" right guyze?? total AlpHA MAiL 🤤

kind of off topic but I love this headline btw: "

Elon Musk: Who is this womanizing billionaire with Asperger's who stole from his father?"

Elon will take Twitter Private. He will run it for 2-3yrs doing permanent damage to millions. Then he will take it Public. Make millions upon millions and walk away laughing at all the Sheep in here believing he actually will do what he says. 🤔

I disagree. I think he's going to merge it with SpaceX before taking it public and making billions and billions. :)

Exactly how do you think Musk will actually increase Twitter’s value? His ideas have been terrible based on the leaked messages. Twitter is not profitable and it won’t be as long as Musk is onboard.

Do you live vicariously through billionaires?

Huh? I'm literally talking about companies merging and you're writing about a little girl.

It's even more funny they think Twitter will make money.

Nothing funny about it at all. Twitter is a set of assets that twines perfectly and globally with the future of communications and starlink. It is 3x the user base of AT&T (or so, you know bots), which combined as a service with starlink has a substantially lower future capex than traditional telecom and a global last mile market. I wish I owned a piece of twitter.

There are lots of ways he could go with this. But he can probably double the value of twitter alone just by adding verification, subscriptions and rightsizing the company.

I mean, given what he has accomplished, including financing it with shares sold at tesla's peak valuation, it seems really strange just to write him off.

This is so great. Twitter was a tool to spread woke ideology and censored any opposing opinions. I got banned from Twitter for 30 days for writing that each time I see Greta Thunberg trending, I hope that she got eaten by sharks.

If a private platform is a place were hundreds of millions communicate, it should not have the power to censor anything based on strange "community guidelines". Otherwise these problem pose a great thread to democracy. The funny thing is that people from the left see it as a threat if those platform do NOT censor content. Since when was having NO censorship a threat to democracy?

I also got banned from Facebook when I wrote something like "I do not like modern women. They only focus on their career. So I swipe left if a woman has a job. Those women should better marry their boss. That helps boosting their career". That post may be controversial and women might not like it, but on woke platforms like Facebook it is enough to get banned for a while. I hope Twitter will be different now.
You cannot possibly be happy with that much hate in you or the desire to piss other people off. That’s not normal or healthy. I would see someone or just call a phone to talk to someone about it. Why aren’t you more focused on your life and stop worrying about Greta or ”modern women”? That’s the question you should ask yourself.

Twitter is not an ISP like AT&T. The AT&T userbase is reliably paying a monthly fee to have service. The Twitter userbase is not and they won’t. Also that 3x userbase of Twitter is international, whereas AT&T is North America which is a much more valuable customer base.

People think Amazon is just a store front, meanwhile AWS controls a significant amount of internet traffic and cloud storage.
Elon wanted Twitter for more than we know

Hate speech is "public speech that expresses hate or encourages violence towards a person or group based on something such as race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation".

But someone still has to define hate speech, and in each society that subscribes to this hate speech nonsense, the people defining it and enforcing it are the people you'd least want to.

I'm sorry, but the reins of total power over thought and speech just aren't going to be handed over to a bunch of power hungry compassion fascists to protect the sensitive feelings of a few. The trade-off of destroying free speech is ultimately destroying society, and it's not gonna happen.
