I agree. Tesla has already risen 5% at the prospect.
So he comes in like a “bull in a china shop” firing people like crazy and changing the past corporate philosophy to a new one. Testing all sorts ideas with his name on it, some work and others are quickly redacted - because it’s Elon and he is like that.

Then you bring in the new President who is a likeable guy with a steady hand and the advertisers come back and the employees can tolerate conditions now, and Twitter soldiers on…

Sure. As Musk said originally Twitter had too many engineers doing too little and too many things were wrong there. No one wanted the job of fixing it and unsure who‘s interested in stepping up but the compensation incentive will be worth a fortune.

This is so great. Twitter was a tool to spread woke ideology and censored any opposing opinions. I got banned from Twitter for 30 days for writing that each time I see Greta Thunberg trending, I hope that she got eaten by sharks.

If a private platform is a place were hundreds of millions communicate, it should not have the power to censor anything based on strange "community guidelines". Otherwise these problem pose a great thread to democracy. The funny thing is that people from the left see it as a threat if those platform do NOT censor content. Since when was having NO censorship a threat to democracy?

I also got banned from Facebook when I wrote something like "I do not like modern women. They only focus on their career. So I swipe left if a woman has a job. Those women should better marry their boss. That helps boosting their career". That post may be controversial and women might not like it, but on woke platforms like Facebook it is enough to get banned for a while. I hope Twitter will be different now.
Now that example is BS. That was an opinion, and you didn't even get slightly vulgar. Now that's different than posting all out lies about a fact or using slurs

The scientific method is great, but absolutely does not function as a method of silencing others. I have no problem with "my science says you should shut up" but there is no sane justification for "my science says you have to shut up".

There is robust debate on all sorts of issues that have been considered by some to be scientifically settled decades ago. I wonder if you would have been for silencing anyone who came out against the science that sugar wasn't bad for you and actually it's fat that's the problem? Or that cigarettes weren't harmful.

It's always the same problem with these arguments that purport to have a genuine reason to get rid of free speech - once that reason is defined and accepted, it can be corrupted by those who seek ultimate control over what people can think and say (ie ultimate power). Ultimately, there is no genuine reason to get rid of free speech. Only naivety and/or facist power seeking.
The issue is that it should say "My science says your argument is invalid." So many attack the person instead of the argument.

At least with Reddit, you can stick to your subreddits, and avoid the stuff you don't want to read. I never used Twitter much. Are there groups or filtering?
Reddit and Twitter is the same imo. Only difference is Reddit lets me see a good subreddit ( which is rare ) if I directly go to the link, Twitter just recommends me any random person even though I don't want to follow a big ton of people and just want to see tweets from people who I follow.

He said he will abide by the poll, so the source is Elon Musk!

I am a free speech absolutionist. - Elon Musk

Also Elon Musk: Ban journalists who "doxxed" my location.

When your source can not be trusts to do what he says he would do, you question the source. And even with that, what is this "plan" that he will turn over day-to-day operations?

Source: Musk as far back as May 2022.

Elon Musk: I will turn over day to day operations.

Also Elon Musk: Fire all of the board of directors.

Again, when your source can't be trusted, you question the source. In this case, Elon can't be trusted, because of his hypocritical stances, which causes everyone to question every single thing he says.. Well, almost everyone; his stans can't seem to stop.. oh, how did you call it? Yes; bending the knee, and kissing the ring.

BL.

You asked for my source of Musk’s plan only to be Twitter’s temporary leader. It is Musk and was widely published. Perhaps you have a better source of his intentions. 😏

At first the hystericals snarled, hissed, and gnashed their teeth convinced absolutist meant no controls and an absence of reasonable limits. Then the hystericals discovered they were wrong that Twitter does have limits so now have to switch gears to hyperventilate over West and Sweeney’s bans and the temporary suspension of cleaver journalists who published direct links.

A classic example that you can lead a horse to the water but you can’t make them think.

Ahh... So when people assumed that absolutist meant absolutist, it was the people who were wrong and not the person who lied about being an absolutist.

And, of course, these people that you disagree with must me described as animals, not human.

They certainly didn’t allow common sense and clarifications get in their way.
Again, "absolutist" does not leave room for nuance.

And, of course, journalists and other people that are discussing the situation do continue to adapt to the evolving definition of what was allowed on Musk's Twitter. And they are reasonably calling him out for his "suspend and then announce new policies" approach.

🤣 Nice jump.
No jump. It was a deliberate, repeated decision on your part.

Reddit has a weird situation where subreddits that you never or rarely post to can ban you because their mods see you posting on other subreddits that they have an ideological disagreement with. Like if you post in the Pepsi subreddit a lot then the Coke subreddit can ban you just for associating with the Pepsi subreddit. Who cares right, it happens all the time, any user can be banned from dozens of subreddits they have never heard of, what does it matter. But if you are browsing on an alt account and you happen to comment on a Coke subreddit submission when browsing the front page of Popular subreddit, even though you long forgot about one of your alt accounts being banned years ago on the Coke subreddit, suddenly you can be banned from Reddit as a whole for "ban evasion". And the Coke zealots are happy to see this happen, to have as few Pepsi fans on Reddit as possible.

The issue is that there are far too many zealot admins and mods. They want to control all of Reddit as a whole and they have been controlling it for years now. The Reddit we all heard about, the original OG Reddit full of geeky cool kids, that Reddit died years ago. Reddit has turned into something more like Tumblr. You can't just browse the front page or r/popular without stepping into an ideological minefield, admins and mods acting like the Stasi. You can't use Reddit like it was originally intended, just browsing the front page or r/popular and commenting on any eye catching link that was shared. You need to keep your love for Pepsi a secret, or make an alt just for posting on the Pepsi subreddit and insulating it from all your other alts so the Coke admins and mods don't know you drink Pepsi. Reddit always had a hive mind mentality, but it's now thoroughly infected the top levels of Reddit itself.

Reddit sounds like a complicated mess.

Reddit became popular, so it was subverted by the same interests that previously controlled Twitter. Make no mistake that this is indeed an information war. What version of reality people believe depends entirely on what perception can be delivered to them, and these mediums are being used to facilitate that. Very deliberately. Totally maliciously.

The more I learn about Mastadon, the more I realize that it's an actual free speech platform that Twitter can never be. If Musk's free speech supporters actually believed in free speech instead of just liking Musk's politics, they would be moving to a Mastodon server.
