But does that mean you don't see content from other servers? So for example, I pick a server that is mac centric, will I see stuff from other people that signed up on different servers? For example, say that Microsoft has an account for their xbox, and its on a gaming focused server. Will I see their posts, on my mac centric server?

I was looking at mastodon and then saw how I have to pick a server - it kind of threw me for a loop
You can see content from other servers. You can follow people on other servers. Of course, the admin for your server does have control. So they basically set the rules of service. For example, the could block content from a server that focuses on Nazi propaganda.

But a key point is that you can switch servers and take your followers and the people you follow with you. So it's not a permanent choice.

Elon Musk is Looking For New Twitter CEO “Foolish Enough to Take the Job”

This was one of my thoughts, with all of his shenanigans, and trying to lay people off and not paying them severance - its not looking very enticing for the best of the best developers.
A CEO that doesn't control "software and servers" and has to do what the head of software and servers wants him to do isn't really a CEO. It appears in all practical ways, Elon lied about stepping down as head of Twitter and abiding by the results of the poll.

I'm absolutely shocked that he was shown to be dishonest - I'm sure that's the first time he lied or went back on his word :p

I was reading that some wolves in Yellowstone are infected with a parasite which causes them to break away to start their own pack. The theory extrapolates entrepreneurs have a similar parasite that makes them become risk takers. Surely Musk has a brain parasite.

Yep - this one :p

It does no such thing. All users are free to post within the terms of service. When it comes to input on policy issues those who have skin in the game can vote.
Except they can't vote -- vote is speech, so it's not free speech at all for them. I'm one of those scummy non-paying users -- you talk about free speech like Musk has, he's go to live it, and he's not.

However, putting a cash up front wall to vote would get rid of frivolous bot voting.

I gather your point but that's not how it was rolled out or intended.

Por ejemplo... Had Elmo "won" said poll, the point would be moot; he lost, and the goal post must be moved.

For a company, that's naked capitalism; for a democracy, it's a poll tax.

And that is precisely why those unwashed masses non-paying users should vote on a poll that Elmo publicly invited them to take. /s

And who or what, exactly, is "authentic," and by said definition, who should pick nay decide who or what is, and more importantly, is not?
I charge for teaching grade school civics.

Absurd line of reasoning. Users have free speech within the TOS. Contributors have additional input over policy. This concept is not difficult. People who use Apple products do not have voting rights along with shareholders.

Twitter isn't Apple, and Apple has never said they were free speech absolutists, Twitter, via Musk, has. If Musk would stop pretending he's for free speech as an absolutist, I wouldn't be complaining. I really, really, hate lying.

The free speech absolutist thing has been addressed. It lacked substance from the start.

It's not a fallacy. It's literally the meaning of the word.

Good grief. Nothing is without nuance….that goes for company policy, state and federal laws, and the US Constitution. Secondly free speech on Twitter has been addressed and clarified ad nausium. The strategy didn’t work originally nor does it now.

If you want nuance, than don't call yourself an absolutist. An absolutist literally means without nuance, no exceptions.

Musk buying Twitter has been a difficult adjustment for many people.

Wholly agreed, including but not limited to…
  • Journalists
  • Jews, Muslims, and other non-Christian groups
  • People of Color
  • Latinx Community
  • LGBTQIA+ Community
  • College Students
  • Twitter Employees
  • Twitter Stockholders
  • Twitter Moderators
  • Tesla Stockholders
  • SpaceX Stockholders
Meanwhile, misinformation and disinformation for, but not limited to, the following have been flourishing…
  • COVID-19
  • Vaccines
  • Elections
  • Reproductive Care
  • Education (esp. K-12)
  • The War in Ukraine
  • Racial Justice
Plus, given the steep rise in online white nationalism, fascism, anti-semitism, misogyny, anti-LGBT hate and hate speech in general, maybe “difficult adjustment” is more than a simple poor choice of words?

Careful now...

Because if one says that he is sowing flourishment against certain cultures - say, for example, African Americans - Stans of Musk may counter and say that it's false, because he is African American. 😒
