I immigrated to the US 20 years ago. I heard this “it’s the end of America” since day 1, on multiple occasions and after multiple elections. Looks like the US is still standing.

A few years back I bought a used book on Nixon. Inside, someone left a clipped newspaper article which stated that Kennedy being elected will quickly destroy the US. Looks like they were wrong.

Because he was stopped from doing so, duh!

I find it rather ironic and sad that many people don't seem to know what free speech really is, nor what hate speech or just generally bad or ill advised behaviour is when they're online (and in fact often in person), and when they try to get into a discussion or argument about it, they demonstrate all the characteristics that they're complaining about in others.

I got suspended from Twitter because I said that “president Biden is losing his mind. Someone get him an evaluation”. I was fact check that he wasn’t losing his mind. My freedom to say that was canceled. Freedom of speech is not the freedom of saying racist or comments deemed hateful. It’s the freedom of speaking your opinion with the respect of others at the same time. I was censored because the far left leaning Twitter didn’t like it. But they were ok when folks said Trump was losing his mind. They were not censored.

Now do you think I should have been suspended?

Dude bro countless leftists and liberals and pears and goats have been banned from twitter since it’s inception for all sorts of things. I got banned for sharing an embarrassing news story about one of trumps adult children. The difference is that when a conservative gets banned they go full tilt boogie persecuted Jesus on everyone and can’t get over it.

Is it all fair? No.

Do conservatives have free rein to express themselves in this country? Well they are constantly whining about it everywhere so they can’t be too oppressed. And are even allowed to threaten and assault people all over America with zero repercussions. So I just don’t find this whole “we’re being censored and oppressed” thing to hold much water.
