Elon Musk: If You Don't Make It at Tesla, You Go Work at Apple

very sensible comment. tesla, though they look really cool to the point that i would like to own one, they are impractical and i dont see them changing the world with their current technology. i dont think battery tech will go very far with a car, simpyl because the energy density is too low...unless there is an alternative power source, electric motor vehicles wont go far (literally).

Battery tech is maybe the hottest field of research right now and there's already ample breakthroughs in R&D that will ensure very, very competitive electric vehicles (in terms of range) in just a few years

Former employees on Tesla: so basically, we're useless on Tesla?... Let's see.

I find those message is not for Apple.. but for employees who left him.

Imagine leaving a girlfriend for another. LOL just understand those feelings.

You can only go 250 miles in the best possible outcome and it takes an hour to charge 60 miles of use... which again is the best outcome.

How is that good?

Plus what happens when the batteries lose efficiency after a few years? THe batteries will probably cost 10K+...

I'd rather just stick to Diesel, at least with that engine you can easily user alternative fuel sources.

Also, if you're doing it for the Earth, going after the cattle industry (THE cause of the earths destruction) is where you will actually make a HUGE dent in our future. Much, much more than buying a $70,000 - $100,000 car, and using LED light bulbs at home.

To be fair a design mistake in a car is a bit more serious than an iPhone 4.
Completely agree, and as much of an Apple fan as I am even I can admit that Apple have made pretty crucial design mistakes with iPhones over the years...

I know that very successful people can also be deeply insecure, but Elon Musk takes it to a whole new level. The Apple Watch is pretty awesome actually Elon, I'm wearing one now. Apple didn't needed an unconstitutional, federal government loan to create it either.

the funny thing about the outrage here is this is exactly something people's idol Mr. Jobs would say. Shocking. Billionaires arent going to be nice people

can only barely imagine the god-complex people would have on this forum would steve jobs have said something like that :D

I'm also wearing one.

Whatever watch Elon Musk has. It objectively sucks. Prove me wrong.

What would you call the bailout from Microsoft?

The Microsoft "bailout" was an arrangement.

First, Microsoft were to lose billions in court, and their reputation will be damaged. They have infringed copyright.

Second, Microsoft isn't the government, that money wasn't tax payers money, what's your point?

Right because golden boy Steve never talked about other companies like this, right?

And lets be real, what of the "shots" he fired at Apple's products were particularly wrong? Apple Watch is not a success on the scale they wanted it to be, the Pencil and the iPad Pro are not beacons of innovation.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised by comments like yours that Musk's comments are acceptable because Jobs did the same, or that this is SOP for people in his position, or that an attitude like that is a prerequisite for innovation. If those things are true, it doesn't speak well of the human condition. It should be possible to be a successful leader of an innovative company while still taking the high road, publicly at least. That doesn't mean that companies can't be critical of their competitors' products, but there are different ways to do that.

I cant think of anything to better motivate a group than hearing that your ex employers thinks you suck!
If there's one thing apple are about before money it's pride. The whole brand is about being the best. They wont do things if they cant be the best at it. I have never know apple to launch a product that isn't significantly better in many ways than any of their competition. I really don't know what Musk is drinking out there...

Yeah, only a nervous CEO would make those types of comments about a competitor. Apple would never stoop to that level.
Hmm....I must have missed the Apple car or the home battery. Where are they selling it?
