His business seems to go where government subsidies exist. Let's see what happens when the subsidies dry up. Not turning a profit yet? Let's see that company stand without our tax dollars. All that to build some expensive cars.

There are always going to be different ways to twist a situation. Some may call it taking advantage of "free" money. Others may call it "relying" on subsidies. Either way, if you take a look at the way he set up the business (production - assembly, product pipeline, etc) if he was really trying to run the business purely off discounts and low margins, he wouldn't be doing it the way he is. Whether that's due to "ignorance" or strategy, is once again, up to you to decide.

No one should design cars. The risks are too great and it's not worth the exposure. Never take risks.

What ppl are pointing out is would you trust a company that has some major overlooks in design/software with your life? Or making trade offs for the sake of looks?

Would I buy Apple for a phone or computer? Yes. Would I buy and Apple car to entrust my life and my family's? No. Why? They'd have to earn it. There is no "your holding it wrong" when your dead.

I'll take Apple seriously when I see a factory race team. Prove that your technology can withstand the rigors of racing and maybe I will believe your car isn't going to kill me or leave me on the side of the road.

He doesn't need to have class. Steve Jobs didn't have class. He straight out called people bozos if he didn't like them.

Anyway, Musk is Tesla's boss. What do you expect him to say?

You are saying that people does not need to have class because Steve didn't have it. What we expect from Musk to say?
At least not the same BS as Ballmer said one day about iPhone.

I expected more nuance from a man like Mr. Musk. Although after the fold-up doors on Model X I don't know what to expect of Tesla and their design-department.

Okay. Some seem to be saying that Apple shouldn't even be given the chance to earn our trust in the automotive sphere.

If they build a car, the car should be and will be subject to the same safety regulations as Ford, GM, BMW, VW, etc. All of those companies have had design failures in their past. Do you entrust your family's safety to them? If so, why? and why would you not entrust their safety to engineers who used to work at those companies, but now work at Apple?

Apple, the Tesla Graveyard, is where fired Tesla engineers go yet Tesla also hires from Apple, whaaa. The Apple Watch is probably one of the better smartwatches that are currently available.

He does not even do rocket science. He simply launches old rockets built with 1960 science. Much like any twelve year old does with model rockets.

o_OI hope you are joking. I am fairly certain the science involved in the rocketry behind space x is ::slightly:: more advanced than what a 12 year old would accomplish when launching a model rocket .

I used to build model rockets. I know for a fact that i would not know the first thing about launching real rockets.

Enlighten me.

Apple has over $175b cash in the bank and Tesla is a publically traded company.

Just because you have cash, doesn't mean you can buy something. Tesla is not selling a company, they are selling shares. BIG difference.
