You’re debating whether or not Apple has the right or the power…that’s not the point.

Apple was fine with dictators and terroristic racists being on Twitter. Now they’re suddenly worried about content moderation.

It’s naked American politics. It’s obvious and pathetic.

It's not politics, it's business.

Apple's view on inappropriate content is much more strict than almost any politician, left or right. Apple has a rule against quoting religious text inaccurately.

Your basis for that? What a load of rubbish.
Are you serious? State sponsors of terror are on Twitter haha Have you noticed Iran’s leadership?

Have you read any of the foul anti-white nonsense on Twitter? You may have, but you may not have seen it as hateful because it aligned with your own biases.

Here’s some of the racist drivel I found just by searching for “white people” on Twitter:

”When white people tell me to “stay humble” it always feels a little racist, I can’t explain it…”
“White people get so horny every time there’s some mild discontent in China”
”White people r so annoying GODDD”
”I keep forgetting rich white people basically see poor white people as another race already.”
”White people deserve to be killed in every brutal way possible”

That sort of language was still allowed on Twitter, after for exampleAlex Jones was banned. I wonder why you didn’t take issue with it before Elon Musk took over!

This is how it should be done. Regardless of the culture wars, regardless of the political disagreements, regardless of the peer pressure and egos, you should meet in person (not over Zoom, not over social media) and work things out. Bravo to both of them.

Can tell Apple are a little worried if Elon can suddenly command a meeting at Apple HQ with their CEO, especially so soon after his vocal condemnation.

I can see this all playing off Musk's saying he may allow porn on Twitter and Apple saying that if he allowed that they'd have to drop the app from the App Store. By the fact Musk never mentions just what 'the moderation' is, that would be my first, best guess.
Not sure where you’ve been but porn is rife on Twitter.

Apple isn't concerned about the people or the organisations themselves, but the content they make. You might disagree with it but Apple has been very consistent on this.

Apple is mostly concerned about social media apps having methods and process to handle inappropriate content:

"Apps with user-generated content present particular challenges, ranging from intellectual property infringement to anonymous bullying. To prevent abuse, apps with user-generated content or social networking services must include:
  • A method for filtering objectionable material from being posted to the app
  • A mechanism to report offensive content and timely responses to concerns
  • The ability to block abusive users from the service
  • Published contact information so users can easily reach you"
All of the above sounds pretty decent and normal to provide for a social network.

In addition, "Apps should not include content that is offensive, insensitive, upsetting, intended to disgust, in exceptionally poor taste, or just plain creepy."

Again all of this, or similar statements, has been in the guidelines since 2008/2009.

For some, it seems to have taken 14 years to discover Apple's rules.
Wait, wait, wait. So you mean to tell me that this isn’t actually about Apple being part of some woke mob, but in fact is based on valid concerns over whether Twitter under Musk no longer meets there longstanding App Store Guidelines? Who’d have thunk it!

To a degree. Apple makes money from its ads on Twitter (read: revenue stream). They took that away because of Musk and his actions. If anything, Apple can easily replace that revenue stream by directing those ads elsewhere. But why do that when they can maximize that revenue by directing it elsewhere, AND getting it from Musk?

In short, Apple isn't worried about Musk; Apple is USING Musk; Making money, at Musk's expense.

BL.

Twitter has been really buggy lately. I can't see my text when typing replies, ads in video which makes me think the video is about something I'm not interested in, the feed spontaneously scrolling up when there are new posts and more. It's probably because all their senior programmers are gone.

I tried Mastodon and didn't really care for it, unfortunately.

I heard that Elon threatened to create his own phone if Apple ousted Twitter. However, hasn't Elon been already working on a "Pi Phone"? Did he bail on that project? I welcome any competition to Android and iOS.

So you’re saying that Apple, by virtue of not taking down Twitter was them supporting those posts. Rigghhhtttt. 😂. No wonder people are using so many laughing emojis. Aren’t you a fan of unfettered free speech?
Um…if Apple is taking down Twitter because they don’t support some posts being made on Twitter now Due to new moderation standards, doesn’t that mean they used things being posted on Twitter as a filter for whether or not to allow it on the App StorE before? Like..they were ok with the content before because they allowed it on the App Store…now they don’t like the content standards, so they’re thinking of not allowing it on the App Store?

Are your even reading what you’re writing? Lol Seriously hahaha

Elon Musk is the richest businessman in the world, and Tim Cook is the CEO of the richest company in the world. They are obviously both serious and capable enough to go have an in person meeting instead of either ignoring each other or fighting over the internet.

Apple doesn’t decide who is or is not on Twitter. Never have. And they don’t have the power to remove anyone. now this might stretch your mind back a bit, but when Trump was inciting "Patriots" to storm the Capitol Building, did Apple ask for him to be banned? No they didn’t. That was all Twitter.

What? What bias could I possibly have?

What does it say about him? You're the one who was talking about the appearance of a child for no reason.
I am sorry my post brought-up some insecurities. The name Elon gave to his child is stupid. It can't be pronounced. Having a ridiculous name and being unattractive is not good. Having good looks could help make people forget about the stupid name.

Didn’t you mention something about bias? Some people need to look in the mirror.

Im not sure what people motives are here, but it sure isn’t talking about Apple, Musk, Twitter and what it means to the Social Media ecosystem.

What did I say about bias?

And now we see that he is such a weenie that all it takes is a tour of the campus. No one (including Tim) should be placating him.
