There already is a subscription service with Twitter called Twitter Blue and I believe Musk would like to increase the number of pay subscribers and cut down (if not eliminate) advertising.
I’m not saying you gotta fawn over the guy but I’m baffled how going to space, making eco cars (even if subsidized by taxpayers), attempting to restore free speech, getting Internet to Ukrainians with starlink, and building underground tunnels to mitigate metro traffic are all boogey man plots

Pretty sure this is an article where Musk said something completely hypocritical and factually outside of reality. The deal is, just like the orange man, this guy is a rich troll. People do not like trolls.

You act like you know ANYTHING about how much it costs Apple for any of that, or how much income they get from their 30% fee extortion. YOU KNOW NOTHING. Yet you're sure 30% is the perfect amount to charge to cover all that AND still make some money because, well like you said, they're a business and need to make a profit. At what point does profit become gouging? Would you be happy if every grocery store charged 500% more than you think they should because they have to pay for a building, hire and pay workers and they have a distribution channel for goods? 500% markup OK with you? How about 1000%? You never go somewhere and comment that some product or item for sale is overpriced? Apparently not since every business is allowed to make a profit no matter how excessive, right?
I wish news sources would stop making whole articles out of celebrity tweets. It stirs the pot, but it's not really news.

There's actually a great gauge for this: Apple is charging the industry standard. Calling it extortion is absolutely ridiculous, and your examples of what a consumer pays to buy something is nothing like what a vendor is charging to sell something. I don't know what the right number for all of these online marketplaces to charge is...but I know one thing, I would never go apes**t on the internet about it.

Like I said his views and praise of China is extremely questionable. I can say that can’t I? I’d also like to understand how much taxpayer money has funded his operations and pending the results wouldn’t be overly happy with that either.

it’s the same percentage Amazon charges authors to sell. Amazon also charges heavily for the cost of an ebook’s data size in the transaction. And then look at the percentages they take for audio. 30% is the norm. But as anyone who does retsil would tell you, 30% for retail is much less than usual. I’d be happy for it to be less across all industries, but it’s not like Apple is doing anything different to everyone else.

Does Epic Games have a developer program that charges a recurring $99 annual fee? They used to charge $19 monthly to use the Unreal Engine, but it's free now.
Either way, Google charges $25 to be a lifetime developer, and a 15% fee. So it's viable.
