Not saying you're alone with your fanboy wars, but you started it here and more or less invited the other side to join.
Suddenly "you're imagining "Elon Haters" being angry at Apple"

became

"well you started it"

So it does exist? Great.

Owning a company doesn't mean you're listed as the inventor. 🤦‍♂️

And Elon doesn't own Tesla 100% yet he was listed as the inventor in at least one Tesla patent, same way Steve Jobs was only listed in a few patents.

Argument is false either way.
I believe his name is on the patent because he owned the company that applied for it. I assume that the actual developers are listed in the patent as contributors. But Elon owns it.

elon haters going to boycott iphones now? lol imagine being this angry at elon

going to be a sad future for those people when elon products are everywhere
Like they hate Samsung whenever they know their shiny new iPhone has display, memory and some other parts are made by Samsung.

I'll admit to not being familiar with the specifics. I was speaking in general terms.

Ok great.

Just FYI: Tesla has hundreds (perhaps over a thousand) patents. Elon is listed as an inventor only a few of them. Elon has literally invented at least one thing. This proves "Elon hasn’t invented anything himself." false.

It's literally a product.
It requires a dish you put on your house, boat, car, plane, etc...

Cruise lines are adding it to their line of boats and they advertise it/upsell it in the rooms, TV screens, in the app, at the bar, etc...

Airlines are adding it in the same way.

Then you see it in the news like Florida, Maui, Ukraine where they are praising it.

Then you see viral things like cute cats cuddling on it. https://x.com/tippen22/status/1476985855981993984

It literally is a "thing". LOL
oh sure, everyone has a satellite dish on their house and we all spend so much time on boats and cruise ships and we’re all spending most of our days thinking about satellites and talking about satellite dish technology. very common stuff. this isn’t you scrambling to make a point to defend the weird man you’re obsessed with, this is a normal thing we all think about.

Conversation went from naming one elon product (which I successfully did)
to questioning if it is a product (it is)
to questioning how much time we spend on starlink (never made that assertion, i only stated it'll be "everywhere")

It's funny that the goal post keeps moving. You're trying really hard to find any way to score a dunk on Elon. Talk about obsession.

Have a good one.

Not really getting the interest in this.
To me if his org controlled the tech that was being delivevered then yes. more interested.
He's a delivery boy in this instance. Nothing to see here.. walk on.

oh for sure, you can confidently tell yourself that you came out on top in another exchange online where you felt personally offended and were compelled to defend a billionaire sex criminal from criticism. which is normal person stuff btw, i’m the weird one who’s obsessed.

Weird how some are taking sides like Tim Cook only does things because the government makes him, but Elon Musk does it out of the goodness of his heart. They both run large companies and would both like to avoid government intervention. Of course, this forum is just another social media, and the arguments get views, so hence the title saying “Elon Musk’s SpaceX” when simply SpaceX would make sense. We are all being played.

Well I never said that Elon didn't invent anything. Someone else must have. I was making a different point; that just having his name on the patent doesn't mean he did the design himself. That's it.

You responded to my post where I was talking to the person who said "Elon hasn’t invented anything himself.". I showed he did.

I don't know what you want from me.

Exactly my point!

Incidentally ask yourself if it works on the Isle of Mann or Isle of Wight...

An emergency system is no good if there are so many constraints on the operation of it.
It is extremely useful to the people who use it and fit within its geographic area. Just because it's rolling out slowly right now, doesn't mean "it's no good". This is the start of the democratisation of this functionality. It won't be long before every handset has this capability and the ridiculous prices people have been charged in the past for dedicated devices and subscription plans are a thing of the past....and there'll be a fit for purpose network to support operations going forward.

In similar vain to your Central Asia story, I work within emergency services in Australia and there's been many times in my career where the Iridium phone was all but useless.

Nothing at all. I promise you. Enjoy the rest of the conversation.

And the service requires an iPhone 14, which is not universal. For some, it may be an additional excuse to upgrade.

This is really a stupid feature if you ask me. If you're putting yourself into a situation where you need emergency communications buying an Iridium phone or beacon is a far far better idea. I suspect this might put people off a safety conscious decision because there is some assumption they can fall back on the iPhone, which is extremely difficult to use in this mode I understand, you know when you're injured or incapacitated.

Casual stuff, you might be lucky...
This feature, which is currently free, and might save my life one day? Yeah, that's so stupid.

You make it sounds like people are being irresponsible for putting themselves into danger. All it takes is a twisted ankle while on a hike, or having your car break down on a road trip.

What about the millions of people who pass through dead zones while on road trips, or while on casual day hikes within the United States? This seems like a great product for them. But you say, "It's no good"???

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but SpaceX is the only functioning space program capable of launching in the US in 2023, right? NASA will be back to having launch capabilities to replace the Space Shuttle, but that is still several years away.
NASA is launch stuff all the time. The Artemis mission to the moon is years away, but they still launch satellites.

I’m thinking that maybe Apple will be including satellite texting in the September event. The event is “Wanderlust” so it would be a good fit.
