I really enjoyed Elton's first couple of albums before he went off the deep end.
He owned the 70s.

I agree , elton used to be a legend , I was once his biggest fan , From Honky Chateau to The Fox , just about every album a classic

Until , like apple he sold out and went for the $$$ and everything went down the $$$$$er

They have a lot in common. 70's to early 80's Elton = Steve Jobs , 90's onwards = Timmy Cook

The again his 80's stuff was pretty awful - 'leather jackets' anyone ? ...

I am surprised about the negative Elton John comments. I never saw him perform, but I bet it is good.

I am just curious, who would you like to see? Brittney? Chance the Raper? Just wondering.

The wombles kick ass

I hear her (b. Spears) show in Vegas is actually pretty good. So.

I just saw her a few days ago in Vegas, to my surprise the show was one of the best I have seen in Vegas. She seemed to be back to her "old days". I also heard one of her new songs on the radio last week which also was really good. Is Britney making a come back?

Chance the Rapper (known as just 'Chance') is one of the most positive rappers today. Most of his latest project had strong religious undertones, he speaks out against gang violence in his hometown of Chicago, he's throwing a music festival of his own in a month for his underrepresented community, he talks about loving his girlfriend, and his cult following love him. Apple couldn't have picked a better hip hop artist.

Butttt, instead of doing your research on who Chance is and what he represents, all of your first reactions were "eww, hip hop". Shame on all of you.

Britney Spears cannot sing. She sounds like a frog being strangled so I find it strange for Apple to want to associate themselves with someone like her. It's not like she's even got a strong back catalogue to make money from.

Out of curiosity I just looked up reviews for her latest album that comes out Friday to see if there were any comments on her vocals. The reviews are praising it saying it may be her best album. Here are what some reviews said

Billboard
"Glory represents something better than a return to form; it is, at long last, a step forward for the 34 year old. She’s using her voice in new ways -- on “Make Me,” it actually sounds pretty, a word rarely used to describe her singing, even in her heyday."
New York Times
"Throughout the album, Ms. Spears’s voice — no doubt still processed, but far less obviously robotic — has emphatically returned to the foreground."

PopJustice
"It’s all the more shocking, then, to discover that nine records deep, following what was largely considered her gravest musical misstep to date (2013’s Britney Jean) and just a year after the insipid “Pretty Girls,” she’s delivered one of the most artistically, musically and vocally ambitious albums of her career." Britney Spears: 'Glory' (Album Review)
Slant Magazine
"By eschewing the harsh, dubstep-influenced EDM of her past two albums and embracing subtler pop and R&B sounds, Britney's made her most daring, mature album in years."
Inquisitr
"In fact, we’re being totally honest about things, Glory actually comes close to besting what is seen as Spears’ pop opus, 2003’s In The Zone, partially thanks to her attempts to tackle new and surprising styles and genres for the disc. For the first time in a long while, it feels as if Britney is once again leading her show."
Celebuzz
"It is with genuine surprise and great pleasure that I declare: Glory is Spears’ best album since either Blackout or 2003’s In the Zone, depending on who you ask. (For my money, In The Zone, brimming as it is with Spears’ personality, energy, and enthusiasm, remains her masterpiece.)"

So essentially they are saying she's still rubbish but not as rubbish as before.

I suppose if you were not a fan this album is not going to change your mind, however for the millions of people that love/have loved her this album seems to be amazing. So Apple probably booked her knowing this - I think she will bring a large amount of publicity to the festival. Personally, while I am looking forward to other artists more I am excited to see what she brings and if it lives up to her best. Judging from her show in Vegas she will.

Wow. I don't know what rock you live under but it must be amazing there. She doesn't have a strong back catalog and hasn't been relevant for 15 years? It must be a UK thing because that's the only pass I'll give you for such ignorance. Otherwise, your posts couldn't be more absurd or out of touch.

You don't have to like her music but dear God at least try to be objective....

Quit trashing Britney, she's very talented. And Apple is lucky to pull a name like Britney. y'all can remain mad.

She doesn't need any help from any of us, she build that trash reputation all by herself.
Exactly how? and are you any less "trash" than you claim she is? Britney is honestly one of the most genuine/down-to-earth people in the entertainment industry. You clearly must not "know" as much as you think you do about her if you belive she "Built a trash reputation" for herself.

Big name & Britney.

Why are you so obsessed with her? Yikes. Very tragic. Get a life

How long before Apple features cutting edge acts like Barbra Streisand and Wayne Newton?

I’m 43 without kids and it’s an embarrassment to Apple that even I know who the younger generation is listening to more than they seem to with their unlimited access to the music industry. It’s just more from Apple’s old fart dictatorship.

Why is mental illness so stigmatized? I have more respect for Britney than almost any other artist, after suffering a very public meltdown she continues performing even though being "famous" was what caused the illness. If your career made you mentally ill would you continue? Honestly, the more everyone trashes her here the more I am liking her - I had no real opinions before.

Mental illness gets a wide pass in the entertainment industry and creative people, successful or not, suffer from a high rate of depression. Most don’t have access to all the resources Britney Spears has access to and the more people making money off her the more you can guarantee she is going to get top notch help. I would even argue her career was well on its decline before this episode which actually helped her career get a boost. I’m not bashing her but she certainly isn’t a hero of mental illness. She lives in a vacuum of mostly success and privilege.
