I'm here people. Just looking things over.

Moyank, what's up with the lady in the room? Is there really someone there or were you just being funny? Is it Sceptical?

I think this is a valid point, do we want to "complete" this game by exploring everything or do we just want to get upstairs, find the Don, and try to finish the game? Are we powerful enough to face what lies ahead?

The woman in the room was a joke. Room A is empty.

No, not me, on that occasion.

While Don't Panic had me out seeking ancient Scythian artifacts (an honourable occupation and one I've been known to engage in), these last few days, I have been confined to my bed, feeling slightly sorry for myself given that I had two impacted wisdom teeth removed earlier in the week. No hot drinks, (which means no coffee), no alcohol (cos of medications...) and nothing that this gourmand could class as food. A tough few days. But made easier by plenty of books......

Believe me, anyone finding me this week in a room, would not have considered the process of wooing and winning worth undertaking.

The woman in the room was a joke. Room A is empty.

So it is.

And here, apart from our uninvited guests, not much has been happening. Our Enforcer, of course, went missing.....and had to be replaced. Pressing matters occupied My Don for some days. Were it not for our not unexpected guests, I might have suffered pangs of loneliness.....

"Everyone got everything?" asked mscriv, who is trying to stuff a golden goblet into his pouch. He is now somehow thankful he used all those smoke bombs - that made room for the gold.

"The other room is empty."

Startled, mscriv spun around to see the sneaky chick standing in the front of the door opposite the one they came in through.

"What?" mscriv asked, slightly angry at her. Or himself.

"I went in there and took a look. Nothing's there but a set of stairs.

Stairs!

"Right on, let's go! Next room's got stairs - the Don is probably upstairs waiting for us to bomb him straight to hell!" forgetting his annoyance a second ago, mscriv marched past the woman and through the door.

"He's probably right," mscriv overheard the doctor say behind him. The rest of the crew came into the room behind him.

There are indeed stairs in the room.

Except both the stairs and room are huge. It's the grand entrance of the mansion. Through the huge windows up ahead, through the flowing red curtains, mscriv could see the porch they all were on earlier in the night.

This may be easier -and quicker- if we were able to have multiple leaders.

Raven, do we have to wait for mscriv? Or can we have someone else give orders?

i think this could be a great idea to get the game moving faster.
right now we are going as a group and are fairly in sync as far as decisions. in some cases the decision is obvious but it drags because everyone has to formally chime in and, after that, mscriv still has to put in the official bolded move.

ravenvii, can we elect to have no formal leader, but whenever anyone in the group feels that a majority consensus has been reached can just give the order?

technically, it would work like this:
the adventurers can work in two modes: a 'leader' mode, where every official decision is filtered through a leader (like now), and a 'freeflow' mode, where there is no leader.
in 'freeflow' mode, we still move as a group, but anyone, at anytime, can take the decision for everybody else, by just bolding the next move.
'freeflow' must be voted for/agreed upon as if it was a leader, and at any time the members can vote to go back to 'leader' mode, if some of the freeflow decisions become controversial.

just in case, i vote to go freeflow, and/or to go upstairs right away

pros and cons:
the pro is that it would be much faster as an implied consensus would be the same as a formal one, and there is no delay if the leader is temporarily busy.

the main con I see is that one of the members could rush a move or force everyone to do something they didn't agree upon (note that this can already occur, but only at the hands of the group leader)

- just in case, i vote to go freeflow, and/or to go upstairs right away

Sure, if you guys want, we can go the "freeflow" way, as outlined by Don't panic.

Note: I've had a long day today, and will have another long day tomorrow. So I'll probably be gone until tomorrow night at the earliest.

Up the stairs it is.

Round 4
- Turn 1: Enter the next room by going though the door on the right. (Room A by DP's map)
- Turn 2: The party would like to go up the stairs in room A.

If you all want to go "freeflow" that's fine by me, but I don't think the delays in this game have been the result of the leader model. I've stayed current and given orders once we heard from a majority of the party. While "freeflow" might speed things up some in terms of how quickly we make a decision, as not all people's opinions will be considered, it won't make up for any delays caused by the Don's side or by the storyteller being delayed. I understand people want these EM games to move faster, but I hope we don't move too fast and neglect good input from our team. We still don't know what everyone's abilities are and how they might be useful, when we rush too much there's a greater chance we miss out on those abilities.

I hear you - and I think we would just use it as a last resort.

It has already been decided before Don't panic followed the bombs expert into the entrance hall of the mansion. We are going upstairs.

"Upstairs!" the bombs expert shouted, going up the stairs, two steps at a time.

The others had little choice but to follow. Only the gunslinger lingered, looking around the room.

Don't panic knew what he is thinking. "What if there's more down here?"

But we'll deal with it once the Don's dead, Don't panic assured himself as he followed the rest of the assassins to the second floor of the mansion.

As his eyes cleared the grand staircase, it was immediately apparent to Don't panic that the second floor is going to be nothing like the first.

Everything is new, for one. Very recently renovated and redecorated. Modern taste oozed from the smooth walls and hardwood floors.

"There's only one door. Let's crash the Don's party!" the bombs expert shouted from the top of the stairs, to the CIA agent's open frustration.

no map?

Well, there's obviously only one way for us to go. Does anyone think it's worth searching this room or should we just move on? Does anyone want to use a special ability? It's possible the Don would put a powerful goon in the next room since we obviously only have one way to go.

Thoughts?

i don't think it's worth to search [this room], but if moyank has more of her stealth moves it might be useful [to look into the next one].

Yeah, agree, not worth a turn to search a staircase room. I let raven know to attempt to torture the next goon we run into.
