If I were Tim I would just delete this with a laugh. What atrocious grammar and spelling. Why would you not capitalize the pronoun I but you capitalize every word in the salutation? Really, if you want a response from a CEO, you should proofread what you write. Also, don't use the word "fanboy" in a professional letter either.

first its not a professional letter, second I'm sorry i did not realise i was posting on an english grammar forum, i was lead to believe it was an apple discussion board. :D ....... Boring click

Hi Guys, i sent the following to tim cook by email what is your opinion? ps if you would like to send your own opinion to him you probably already know his email but as a reminder its simply tcook@apple.com

T Cook

i have been an apple fan for many years iPods, iPhones, iPads, MacBooks the lot I've had and still use them daily but i have a real issue with the way certain things happen (i.e the release of ios6) as like many apple fanboys i was eagerly awaiting the announcement of the new iOS and Mac OS and i was watching the WWDC online thanks to live streaming from a justintv user, i was very happy with the new additions to both the OS.

Try using punctuation and correct grammar. What is JustinTV?

BUT

i was later to discover that all is not as rosy as first expected like the fact that the iPhone 4 will not be getting siri nor turn by turn navigation or 3g FaceTime, when we all know they are capable, now being perviously in business my self i have a vague idea of how things work there i.e. by restricting certain things from older devices it would cause the end user to upgrade and their device thats how its always worked as with iOS 5.
iPhone 4 WAS never and IS never getting Siri. You bought a phone without the functionality and knew this upfront. You are now using an iPhone 4, which is 2 years old. You will NOT get the latest and greatest features. Per carrier’s and Apple’s 2 year upgrade cycle scheme, you should buy another phone this fall if you want the best and newest features. Previous devices have ALWAYS lacked the newest features if they weren’t the newest handset released – that’s how technology release cycles work. Be thankful your device EVEN receives a software update with new functionality. Can you imagine buying a 3GS and being stuck on iOS 3? Yea, that’s what owning an Android phone is like.

BUT

many of us iPhone 4 users were eagerly awaiting the iPhone 5 with many hopes of something worth oohing and arhhing unlike the the 4s which yes was decent but not as we was expecting ( new design, new screen, 4g, NFC, better camera , etc etc) so we chose to wait now we knew the 5 would not be announced at WWDC2012 as the 4s has not reached its 1st birthday and would make no finical sense.
That doesn’t even make sense. The iPhone will now be release in the Fall, as it was last year. There weren’t rumors of a Summer release. And by the way, while the external design is unchanged (seems a lot like the S1 to S2 if you ask me), the camera was upgraded, and you get HSPDA+.
BUT

us apple fanboys have been very loyal to Apple, Steve Jobs, and yourself for many years so in return it would be nice to know that apple could show their appreciation and give us a little respect by allowing us the full us of the new upgrades with out having to buy a middle line device as you know as well as we know we will all buy the next generation iPhone when it is released but feel we shouldn't be made to buy the middle gen just for certain applications of the new iOS
Again, this doesn’t even make logical sense. You are NOT ever going to receive the latest and greatest features on a two year old device. The 4 is still receiving many of the new features of iOS 6, which is comprised of many smaller ones too.
Yes some one will release a jail break with the option to turn the extras on in someway but the end users don't really like to take this route as we are loyal and would just like to not be excluded because we won't upgrade our devices to a half cut addition and want the full Mccoy….

i know you probably will not read this yourself and infact you probably will not even be notified of this email as I'm just a small fish in a large ocean, but i would appreciate it if the person who does read this will put it in the right direction to those who can make the changes to maybe iOS 6.1

and also a reply to show acknowledgement

Thanks Taking The Time To Read This
Jason Oliver ( A Very Disgruntled Apple Fan)
You’re not getting a response, and don’t count on jailbreaks to enable all of the features. That didn’t go over too well with Siri in the long run. If you are such a loyal Apple fan, upgrade your two year old device, since you seem to require the best features. Or use that money for some English classes so you can clearly communicate things.

It should be professional if you want any respect from him. Nobody is going to take that letter seriously. No disrespect to you, just letting you know.

well I'm not really hoping for respect from him as i stated earlier it was just a rant

After seeing this, I decided to write my own email to Tim. Just to increase the chances of him taking this "complaint" more seriously:

Hi Tim,

Congratulations on all the hard work that went into OS X Mountain Lion, the new MacBook Pro, iOS 6 and WWDC in general. Have been a great admirer of Apple since 2006 and have loved every minute of using your products.

I'm emailing you on the topic of iOS 6 on the iPhone 4. I'm just curious about the decision to leave certain iOS 6 features (like FaceTime over 3G, Turn-by-Turn directions, Flyover and Siri) out of the update for the iPhone 4. From what I understand, the reduced feature set is not due to hardware limitations, it's due to a strategic move to encourage buyers to buy a newer iPhone. You have to consider though, is that really a worthwhile strategy? How many upgrades do you get via this method? From a costumer satisfaction point of view, would it not make more sense to add these features to the iOS 6 update for the iPhone 4?

I'm not demanding for these features to be added, I'm just enquiring upon the decision to exclude these features and am curious about the reasons behind such decisions. If you would be so kind as to offer an answer, it would be great.

Thanks for the immense amount of passion and dedication you put into the products at Apple. Truly inspiring stuff.

Regards,

A. J.

They're out in force tonight! :D

Yikes. I hope you really didn't send that. Why on earth would Tim read and respond to something with numerous spelling errors and something that just seems like a long rant?

Yeah, the email should at least capitalize "I". Oh, basesloaded, you should fix the spelling in your signature by the way. It's "iPhone", not "Iphone".

The iPhone 4 is soon to be 2 models behind. You are asking Tim Cook to give you free services that Apple has to pay a lot of money for, and you're using an outdated phone.

Just sell your iPhone 4 right before the new one comes out. They go for a lot on eBay, and selling every 2 years actually costs less per year than buying one and keeping it for a long time.

----------

You can when there isn't a technical limitation.

You can't when Apple is giving them out for free, and it costs them tons of money.

iOS 6 is disappointing. Even for the 4S.

But here's the thing... we weren't promised an amazing update. We weren't even promised an update at all (correct me if I'm wrong) when we purchased our devices.

The truth is, Apple doesn't need to give us iOS 6.
Yes, we are disappointed. But that's because we hoped to get something good. But that doesn't mean we were entitled to get it. Make sense?

So in the end, I don't see why we could be angry at Apple. You weren't promised iOS 6. However, I do see why we could:
-be disappointed
-think that Apple didn't do enough to challenge it's competitors

Apple is allowed to do whatever they want with their products. The iPhone, just like all the old/low-end Android phones out there, can totally handle voice-guided, turn by turn navigation. We can agree on that. But Apple can decide to handicap the iPhone 4 in order for customers to buy the 4S/upcoming iPhone 6. If YOU really want the new features, you'll do what you need to get them. It's not Apple's fault if you decide to buy the 4S because you think it will deliver what you need. No one is forcing you to buy these phones, and again, no one told you ahead of time that you were going to get new features added to the phones you own now. How is it wrong for Apple to only add features to the products they choose? They want cash. Customers willingly give them the cash for the products they want. It's how it is.

Somebody correct me if this mindset seems incorrect.

You can when there isn't a technical limitation.

Why? Apple aren't tied into updating it at all legally. It has more features than it had new. Consider that a gift from apple

You're bang on the money with this post.

If Siri didn't come to the iOS 5.x software for the 4 why would it come now. Obviously there will be a new iPhone coming out around the software time, where most iPhone 4 users are ready for the next one. This will probably only affect the few that buy the iPhone 4 for $49 or whatever it will be when the 5 does come and not have those features. So if your planning on getting the 5, it probably shouldn't concern you.

Thank you! It's always good to spread truth

Cry, Whine, Can I get you some cheese? :D

Enjoy your Android running what...3 versions behind? :D

Tim's chart at the Keynote really brought the point home. The great mythical fantastic unstoppable "Ice Cream Sandwich" has only made it to 7% yes 7% not a typo of devices. Chew on that for a little while and then look back at previous releases and realize how superior Apple is in the software update department. You still get to run the latest OS, on release (not months and months later or at all if the carrier doesn't want it). Sure you lose a few features, that's the way the cards fall. I'm amazed the 3GS is even getting IOS6 barebone edition to be honest. How old is that thing now?

You can when there isn't a technical limitation.

Nearly every hardware/software company does this. From cars, to TVs, to graphics cards, to Windows, to Office, to Android manufacturers, to digital keyboards...I'm actually having trouble thinking of a hardware/software company that sells a product with a digital component who doesn't do this...

I'm sorry, you are wrong. To enquire = to question. To inquire = to investigate.

Actually enquire is more of a British used word to informally question, where as inquire is the US English equivalent meaning to formally question.

http://www.dailywritingtips.com/inquire-vs-enquire/

Point is, guess we're both right, just depends on your mood and nationality.

Good discussion ;)

Wow.

WAY too long. Nobody (at apple) will ever read all that. I had to FORCE myself, and I'm a nobody

As a fanboy for years you should know the previous model phone always has features dropped.

Side question: Did you complain when the 4 didn't get Siri before you read up on WHY it didn't get it? (It wouldn't be up to par with Apples standards because of hardware capabilities)
