UPDATE : EMAILING SJOBS@APPLE WORKED !!

I sent a letter to this address stating my situation and my disappointment.

The next day the european customer relations person gets back to me. I phone her, and she says as a gesture of good will Apple will cover the cost of my repair free of charge, even though it is out of waranty!! All £780 for the parts, labour and VAT included. Amazing.

I cannot believe it! This is the Apple I know and love.

To the OP, keep trying, this is proof that if you push hard enough Apple will help you as much as they can!!

To Faust, I might be unbelievable stupid, but I managed to get an out of waranty computer fully repaired at no cost. Hope this angers you more :)

It doesn't piss me off at all, Archandy. Apple does those sorts of thing for it's customers. I guess, Apple isn't laughing their way to the bank after all, right?

Anyways, my Macbook Pro died again two weeks ago. I called AppleCare, refusing to go back to the Apple Store for the 4th repair this past year, and they sent me a new unibody Macbook Pro for my troubles. It's very nice. My purchase of Applecare has already saved me lots of money. I'm glad I bought it.

Sorry for the late response. I was unable to post for a couple of days.

I talked to someone with executive relations and they referred me to a technician that has tried to help resolve the issues. I also sent it back into AppleCare for another round of hardware replacements before I actually took it to the nearest Apple Store (roughly 4 hours away for a total 8 hour drive). The Genius was very responsive and tried to help as much as he could.

In the end they wanted to keep it for 24 hours to test it before deciding to replace it or send it off for more repairs. I would hate to drive another 8 hours to resolve this, but at least there are some pretty good restaurants near the Apple store over there.

I'll update again if anything else happens.

Call the Applecare hotline. Honestly, I got a replacement computer from them faster than I've gotten my Macbook Pro from a repair at the local Apple store. Tell them how far the local Apple store is from you, and how many times you brought it in for repairs. They'll likely replace it for you if they're anything similar to the awesomely considerate Customer Care rep I spoke to. There is no excuse to drive so far so often. They'll understand this.

They replaced the unit with a new Unibody Macbook Pro. The store authorized the replacement after they looked at the repair history and couldn't fix it in the store.

Note: This thread was in reference to a different Macbook Pro than the 15" Unibody I post about sometimes. The Unibody Macbook Pro I bought has been solid the entire time with almost no issues.
