Boblister said:I am very interested in this. The only reason I am getting the 3G model is for the GPS. I have a couple of small BT GPS units which I would rather use as one of them also keeps it's own GPX track as well as acting as a BT receiver. However I am a little sceptical that this idea will work on all GPS applications for the iPad. A good test would be to try a number of apps like MotionX to see if these apps see an alternative GPS.
It's worked in every app that uses gps so far that i've tried which is,
Maps
navigon
tom-tom
Star walk ( without the gps my ipad digi compass wouldn't work in this app, now it does)
Puniverse
If you name some more apps I'll try them and show them working later
Can you try MotionX GPS thanks
It worksI'll include it in a video later. I could in theory use it on the go along with my Nokia phone as a wifi hotspot if you want me to demo it outside.

My receiver only cost under 10gbp so im pretty chuffed!
I am having probs running MotionX. It wont pickup the GPS. I have the stack running and can open the GPS window in the stack and see position etc so everything that end is working. But I kick off MotionX and it just sits looking for a GPS. (spinning red globe and weak signal). Did I miss something in the process?
Does it work ok in maps? With mine, if i dont use an app that uses the GPS for say 10mins then my GPS goes into sleep mode and i have to turn it off/on again then open roqtBT again ( not sure i need to open it again but i have done so far)
you're quite right, it's saying low signal not locked on but it is clearly working. Sorry i didn't spot that when i quickly fired it up! I'm still playing while at 'work'![]()

The good news is it works fine![]()
I'm at work at the moment but I'll post a video review later on tonight.
Which brand is it? Can you post a link?
Thanks,
