i have the same problem like dojoman... but i already have xcode 3.2.6... but it doesnt solve the problem!

what can i doo now?

Have you tried disconnecting it, and then re-connecting it? Do you see it in iTunes? Maybe a restart? Sorry, I know these are dumb questions, but hopefully it helps.

I didn't need to restart after XCode 3.26 was installed, but I did disconnect the iPad in iTunes, closed iTunes and re-connected it. Let us know how it works out.

I've updated to Xcode 3.2.6, restarted the app, reconnected my iPad - still no devices menu. I'm going to download and install the whole thing and see if maybe I'm just missing a package.

Amazing. Works perfectly. I was thinking it was kinda sketchy at first, but it's only editing a settings file. I was pissed cuz I don't have a newer Mac and I don't want to jailbreak my iPad. These gestures make it so much easier to navigate. Not searching for the home button FTW!!

I ran across this earlier:

Enable Multi-touch Gestures on iPad without jailbreaking or needing a Mac

Any windows users try this? It looks like a simple plist edit but you have to do it within your iTunes backup. When a jailbreak is available it looks like this will be easy to enable if indeed it works. If you do try this, please do so at your own risk.

Thanks for the windows backup method, I was waiting for something like that. Was easy and worked pefectly, yay =p!

No 'devices' in side bar menu in Xcode 3.2.6 Organizer window

I am having the same problem as dannyhorn, I am on Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.7 and have xcode 3.2.6 installed. It seems like it works seamlessly for all of you except me and dannyhorn! It seems so simple. Could anyone help? I am not a developer and a novice Mac user but would like the 3,4 finger gestures installed on my iPad 2. I have an iPad 2 with OS 4.3.1 :(

My window looks like this:
no devices screen on xcode 326.jpg

Please help! This is bothering me so much. Thank you for your responses...

...

Go to help in the menu bar and type in devices maybe that will help. Also ,make sure your iPad is connected

This is good way to do it if you really have no access to a Mac. But with a Mac you have the option to turn it on or off on the go

FYI. Im loving the multi gestures

Does this process not just enable the option button in Settings?

Great that Windows users can try this out - but I'm glad I won't have to go through this simple but practically very lengthy process each time there's a new update.

One gesture is conspicuously missing and it's (one of the reasons) why Apple can't release a Home-button-free iPad: there's no way to jiggle apps for movement and deletion.

Think they'll add one? Or is this a sign that they really are just experimenting with these gestures?

Has anyone updated to 4.3.1? Do the gestures stay even if you upgrade?

You need to install whole package, not only xcode, but ios sdk too.
Got this problem too, downloaded xcode 3.2.6, then 4.0 but it was the same, and people was as helpful as "make sure you've connected it right".

... Thank you, I have tried unsuccessfully using the Mac route, but I have installed it using the Windows route. Works great being the true and tried thing. I see no need to disable the gestures for any apps so I will be fine there. Earlier I downloaded 'xcode 3.2.6 and ios sdk' (seemed like it was infinitely downloading 4.49GB out of 4.15GB?) took a LONG time to download only to see a 'mount failure' with the dreaded error-4960 :mad:

This works great! :D just done it on my iPad 2 :D love it. wouldn't mind the option to turn it on and off on the fly, but oh well.

nope, no button via this process. just makes it on by default.

as for the gesture for jiggling apps, you just press and hold, but i think you mean there is no way to come out of that mode. obviously if they make an iDevice that has no home button they will make a way around this, obviously it was just for testing to see how it worked with the Dev's and will probably come in a future version, like iOS 5.

Is there any way to have the on off toggle switch by using windows?

No, the windows way just enables it. If you want to turn it off, you need to remove those two lines from the .plist

I gotta say, it's perfect on the iPad...I use it constantly. I could see it replacing the home button on this, but not the phone.

I have been trying to do this on my iPad.

When I open the Organizer window in Xcode my iPad doesn't show up. Any idea's?
