Help

Is there any way to download Xcode while still on OS 10.5.8? I downloaded the SDK and Xcode 3.2.6 from the apple developer site, but can't install because it's telling me I need 10.6.6. Thanks!

I have been trying to do this on my iPad.

When I open the Organizer window in Xcode my iPad doesn't show up. Any idea's?

You need to download the Xcode 3 + iOS SDK
you must install iOS SDK.

I'm wondering. If I update to 4.3.1 Will my gestures stay activated?

Does anyone know how to do the non XCode version but on a mac?

I have xcode installed already but don't want to waste another 3gb or whatever it is on the iOS SDK (running out of space on my main drive).

Updates are cool. It's on some weird level. It's not removed by updates and it's not in the backup if you switch iPads.

Update away

Are you sure? Sounds weird indeed... I don't have access to Xcode easily so I just want to make sure.

Please excuse my "newness" about this topic, but I just have a couple of basic questions that seem to get lost in long threads such as this...

1. Do I register for free as an Apple Developer and free access to Xcode 3 +IOS SDK or is it easier to just download it for 5 bucks from the Mac app store?

2. All I really want this for is a enable multi finger gestures on my ipad 2 and iphone 4. This is possible for both devices? I'm assuming there's a step by step explanation online somewhere on the process.

BTW, I have a macbook pro with the latest snow leopard updates and am up to date on the ios on both devices.

Thanks.

Update .... cancel that. I just found a very helpful youtube video explaining the process.

So I've decided to do this the Xcode3+SDK way but I already have xcode 3.2.6 installed. I downloaded the iOS SDK but it wants to install xcode AND the SDK (saying 10gb). There's no option for a custom install in the installer.

Does anyone know if you can install JUST the SDK?

yeah, I'm at this exact same point. 10gb is ridiculous. actually i don't even have enough room currently on my mac for it...

I had to install xcode for something else a year ago and that alone is like 6-7gb, so I was hesitant to add the 3gb SDK just for this, but since the installer gives no option I don't want it to gobble up a whole other 10gb...

Yeah I ended up installing it. a delete of my trash freed up enough room. I'm going to delete xcode as soon as I get home from work.

The gestures should stay on the iPad until I do a restore, so I'm not too worried about it :)
