This happened to me too. Over the past month, push died. However, I think this was going to happen since my new iPhone was purchased in February, past the grandfather date.

Needless to say, I am really sad about this loss, and I will probably just dish out the $5 per month for EAS since it would take way too long to shift all of my mail over to another provider like Outlook.

I like iCloud, but the web interface is just too unreliable for me, and sometimes I need it. Seriously, the thing won't load half of the time!

Google is killing me. First this, then Reader... The 'Lord' giveth and taketh away....

Since the release of the Gmail app I've removed gmail from my native push email app. The app is just better and receives email instantaneously whilst giving a nicer interface and way more options. The end of push is no bad thing.

Moved all my stuff to Outlook and haven't looked bad. Will use IMAP Gmail and move my important email contacts to iCloud (or even Yahoo).

Same. I just have gmail straight up forwarding to outlook.com. I'm using Outlook.com's contacts and calendar as well. It was pretty easy to just export them out of gmail into a file, and then import into Outlook.

As an added bonus, sending e-mail is much quicker on my iPhone now. I do not think Google made their activesync servers' speed a big priority.

Just found out about this. Needless to say I'm very disappointed and quite shocked.

I love gmail. I've been using it ever since I switched from .mac after google introduced IMAP support. I've been using push email ever since I've had an iPhone. I also sync contacts and calendar through my google account, which I curate through chrome. I'm such a google fan that I even use hangouts to chat with my Android buddies.

That's why this feature removal surprises me. My google account has been so useful that it has become ingrained into most things I do. Even on my Apple cell phone. Fortunately push email will continue to work on existing hardware but when I get a new phone I'm going to consider a new email provider (and potentially a new provider of all the associated services).

:(

With push triggers coming in iOS7. Gmail app, which is brilliant, can update itself on a push receipt and be ready to roll instantly when opened. Just configure outbound imap for the built in mail client for sending from apps.

Just pay for google apps for business and you get your EAS back.

I would like to do this for one of my accounts. The $5/mo is worth it to me as I am not a fan of the gmail app.

How does one convert a regular xxxx@gmail.com into a google apps for business account? When I went to settings and looked at my account options, it wanted me to create a new email address @mygbiz.com. Is it possible to just use the existing email one has and simply pay the $5/mo for google apps?

I just noticed that my gmail no longer pushes. I got a new iPhone a few weeks ago. I didn't realize it was tied to a device. I thought it was tied to your Google account. This sucks because I've been using gmail for years. I just switched it to fetch. I'm not that important. Hopefully I won't really notice a diffence.

Same.
Wife's speaker dead. New ip5 under warranty, no push and not jailbreakable.

Same thing here. My wife's iPhone 4 was dropped one too many times. Upgraded her phone a few days back and I couldn't set up her account as exchanged with the mail.app. It verified, but didn't work properly.

She's now using the gmail app, also had to set up caldav's for her contacts and her calendar though.

Then change all her notifications. I think it all works great, but it was just easier to set up before.

I decided to change over my stuff just like hers so it's easier to help her out.

I had my iPhone 5 replaced today and no more GMAIL push. I knew it was coming. I absolutely HATE this app. I would rather use the built-in app.

Anyway to change the new message sound? It's the same sound the eBay app uses for a bid notification.

I have just tried to set this up. I have 2 gmail accounts that need to be forwarded. I created 2 outlook.com accounts. Set those up on the iphone. I went into my gmail accounts and set up the forwarding. It should be correct because I have a pink banner across the top that says you are forwarding your mail to xxx@outlook.com. Yet when I try and send an email to one of the google accounts from another account, it does NOT forward.

If I send directly to the outlook.com account, it is received on the iphone so there is no issue with the phone setup. I look in the outlook.com website and it is not there either. So my email is just simply not getting forwarded by gmail.

Anyone experience anything like this?

As a follow up, I just tried to forward it to my @me address and it forwards there without a problem.

Does gmail have some kind of pissing contest with outlook.com whereby the email will not forward to an outlook.com account?

Jailbreak alphas say they have it for iOS7, waiting to see if it works on iP5S.

Then install the cydia pkg I noted above.
