Glass backed portable device was one of the stupidest ideas, ever.
That may be. But in this age of high tech devices like smartphones and tablets they really do need some kind of protective gear given the fact that they are expensive.

No shock here, I've been saying no to the metal backed iPhone since the fake pics started rolling out.
"The source also indicates that a larger display remains a possibility"
A possibility? Oh dear.![]()
Marware already makes this.

Glass backed iPhone 5? Ooohhhh I can already here the millions screaming NNOOOOOO
I have never had a problem on my iPhone 4 but then again I have managed to not drop it more then 4 times and onto carpet, once onto the kitchen floor but it survived fine, thank God!! Still I was looking forward to a liquid metal back. But if they use Gorilla glass for the back as well as the front it may not be as bad?
Bigger screen means no Retina which I for one do not want. Want a bigger screen, all you have to do is jump into the fandroid church of enlightenment.![]()

Oh, dear.
I have a feeling that later this year, we will not see iPhone 5 or 6, but rather iPhone 4SS, you know, an even further enhanced iPhone 4S.![]()
I guess he/she thinks 37M people are sheeple who buy anything Apple comes out with.Quote:

One reason could be the things are damn slippery.I understand the concern people have over the glass and plastic phones.
But come on, now. We've had aluminum-backed laptops for years and most of them seem to be going around naked. I'm confused why the general public (who was perfectly happy with aluminum Macbooks) is suddenly scared of aluminum iPads.
I know a LOT of people who have full cases for their iPads. When asked if they're going to buy a leather backing for their Macbook Air they just give you funny looks.
I really don't get it.
Have you ever dropped Corelle products?Have you ever dropped a mug?
The what, now?And while your at it, they need hi fidelity sound to showcase the new HD audio format coming out!
Based on my experiences with multiple iPhones the glass is far more durable than the old plastic backs.
I'm not saying that having experience with 5 iPhones in my house makes me the ultimate expert, but I am saying that for ME it worked out great so I'm glad they did it.
You completely missed my point. It's not gonna be an iPhone 5 because it's the 6th phone in line
Idk why people keep referring to it as that but naming it that would be stupid and not happening
iPhone 6 simply doesn't sound nice...
My guess... iPhone 4G
Yeah it might be confusing with 4 4S 4G
But it makes perfect sense with it being the first iPhone with 4G LTE
NEXT One is iPhone 7
That sounds nice![]()

No one complained about glass when the 4S came out.
I believe the back is already gorilla glass
Kinda like the HP TouchPad case in a way.
Either way, the back needed some sort of protection...this should work.
Now the price.....
The back is most definitely not gorilla glass as it gathers scratches easily, the front will hardly get any. Also no one complained at the time, but ask people now and I am more then 100% confident you will get a barrage of people stating the glass back was rubbish as it breaks easily again most likely because it isn't gorilla glass.
Glass on the back also adds too much weight IMO to the phone.
