Apple needs to take a real stand and remove gambling/crates from games along with addons that are not expansion packs. Dance moves for $10 should be illegal!

Man, I bet they thought this „Free Fortnite“ thing would really catch on and turn into a huge movement.

In reality, it‘s just laughable. In the grand scheme of things, not too many people really give a damn. Tech and games are too short-lived these days, kids move on to the next flashy game in no time.

It looks like they really only succeeded in shortening Fortnite‘s lifespan and losing tons of money. Good!

You know, as much as I’m on Apples side here, I almost feel bad for Epic. This whole swag kit kind of shows you how slumped they really are. It’s almost like they had a ‘bad break up’ in a relationship and they suffered the worst part of it, but then again, you kind of smirk in the background and realize they deserve it.

With each passing day, we see the gap between Apple and Samsung widen more and more.

Ecosystems are mattering more and more. Just having a compelling smartphone is no longer enough these days. Companies now need to offer a growing list of experiences found with using various devices and services. Samsung just can’t compete with Apple.

A strong ecosystem is also what is enabling strong adoption of wearables, iPads and Macs these days. That relationship is missing with Samsung hardware.

Second, what I am observing is that Apple users are losing interest in alternative platforms. Even if Samsung unveils a very compelling product, it's not going to be enough to compel users to switch.

Third, Apple has an ecosystem advantage because they are willing to invest in having an ecosystem in the first place. Meanwhile, Samsung simply outsources big chunks of the experience to third parties via partnerships and collaborations (Spotify, Netflix, Microsoft, Google and now Fortnite?!?). Simply put, this means Samsung has little chance of ever being able to go head-to-head with Apple's ecosystem.

Lastly, what is the point of this collaboration even? Are people really going to be buying Samsung tablets just to play fortnite? Who is Epic even trying to reach out to with their messaging?

This just shows how desperate Epic is getting, and it shows just how lacking Samsung's ecosystem is compared to Apple.

I guess I’m glad I’m not an “influencer” ... they are overrated to begin with...
What comes to mind when I see the word influencer is the worlds oldest profession. Most people who have had the misfortune to have to deal with whining "whor , err "influencers" for free stuff would agree.

Apple did exactly thr same with their Airpod Max, gave them to influencers and reviewers but yet the bias is so obvious because this is an Apple forum that the practice of 'influencer' gets derided when it's Epic but nothing when Apple does it.

Fortnite would never been the selling point for me to buy a certain device. I understand Epic is a gaming company but this is just getting desperate.

I don’t get the appeal of Fortnite, tried it and it was meh. I guess it’s free and accessible on so many platforms which made it popular. Anyway, I hope this trend is over soon and this game goes away.
Because you do not get it you hope it goes away? I'd strongly suggest you adopt a more mature viewpoint.

I never understood this move. Well that not true, I understand why they and other companies send to influencers.

However, send to the folks who still play your game who are not influencers, the ones still sticking by you and they'll promote the hell out of your game.

Disclaimer, I don't play Fortnite and truly do not get why so many people do.

I’m no expert so this is just my opinion as a parent who observed his kid. I’d say there’s nothing particularly special about the game but the cartoon graphics made it look appropriate to parents and the shooter mechanics, appearance customisation and goofy dances made it exciting for the kids; plus it’s free and (was) available on all platforms. I guess once it reached a critical mass of users, it started spreading like the plague because kids influence each other massively and tend to adhere to group mentality ( this opinion is supported in my case by the fact my child is a convinced Christian and fanatic of football despite none of the two being something me or any other adult, as far as I know, ever teached/showed him about).

Haha desperate move Epic! I think the influensers that will ware this can be counted on one hand. Unless they give it away for new subscribers.
