i dont play Epic games BUT I dont want them having backdoor workaround access that could weaken security for my phone to meet their greedy needs.

Security through obscurity is a fallacy. Jailbreaking exists on all iPhone models, therefore security doesn't really exist on your iPhone.

If apple can simply void warranty for anyone doing this [side-loading apps]…
If Apple simply void warranties on faulty or software-compromised hardware, Apple will simply be asking for lawsuits.

To be clear, Apple will never have such a right. They will always be accountable for their hardware malfunctioning.

As an Australian I’d just like to say go fudge yourself Epic, I uninstalled your POS game (not that I played it anyway)
I'm also an Australian, and I'd just like to say that I'd love the outcome Epic seeks to achieve.

Imagine being a freelance software developer and not needing to pay Apple $110/year just to offer a free App to iOS users. Imagine the number of smashed avocados I could buy from coffee shops for brunch every year with $110?

That's like, 7 smashed avos a year! 5 smashed avos if I have them with my soy latté.

tl;dr. You don't speak for "all Australians", so don't begin your statements with "As an Australian…".

Sure. Nobody is forcing anybody to do anything or even join the Apple Developer program. It amazes me that people want Apple to run their programs they way "they" want.

It's only anti-competitive because no one else does it.. If everyone was tryng to archive the same, you wouldn't be having any lawsuits about anti-competitiveness.

If I'm not wrong, current iOS jailbreak requires physical access of the iOS device to enable the jailbreak. There's no OTA jailbreak like it used to. Finding that your device getting jailbroken without your knowledge seems unlikely.

Furthermore, IIRC Apple has the ability to kill any misbehaving iOS apps on the iOS devices if necessary. iOS apps also lives in their own sandbox, without the ability to affect other apps, if the iOS device is not jailbroken.
