This argument of 'there is always Andriod' does not wash because back in the day car manufacturers tried that argument and they was hit hard for it. Car manufactureres used to have a monopoly on car parts and repairs, if you wanted a particular car, it had to be repaired by an authourised dealer and spare parts had to come from the car manufacturer.
How far back do you go? I go back to the 60s and remember the JC Whitney catalogs. In the last 60 years at least you could repair any car with anything. If it was under warranty and you didn't use company parts you voided the warranty, but once that was passed you could repair any car with any part.

How do you think people made hot rods in the 40s and 50s?

True, but the long run could be after my kids kids, have kids.
Yeah, Apple will be like “OK, you can sideload, install the app store of your dreams!” the day after stopping support for iOS altogether 😂 Like the EU defining a standard for power delivery that’s outdated even before it gets presented.

Of course Epic want most of it because they're doing all the work to develop the game, host the app and game servers, the payment system and maintaining everything. All Apple provides is a bookmark on the app store. Same reason browsers don't take a 30% cut of every users' online purchase because they do bookmarks.

Oops, might've given Apple an idea on how to monetize Safari and reason to remove other browsers from app store.
And epic wants apple to do the distribution for free. The rest of the world doesn't work like that.

Anything less than a total Epic victory would be uncivilized. Emulators, game streaming and torrent apps here I come!

Nobody wins here!
An Appeal will be filed on behalf of the loser regarding whom it is. This could take years
Epic is ‘years away from profitability ’ and may be looking at a longer winding road
Apple customers are becoming unhappy and IMHO are going to screw Epic eventually
Hopefully the judge is an iPhone user and can appreciate Apples ecosystem when making her ruling

She’s a judge. She can issue an order.
I'm willing to bet good money that if that happens. Apple will only allow micro fonts to be used to show the link, or it will have to fade out within a half second from first appearing on the screen.

You must be an Android user. A loss for Apple is a huge loss for their customers and non top tier developers on multiple levels. Companies like Epic who leveraged Apple’s platform to make billions will better maintain their dominant market positions by keeping Apple from competing and lowering the cost of entry to market like they have with trackers.

It’s ironic that several of the companies coming for Apple would not exist on the level they are if Apple dis not provide access to their tools as platforms.

If they win iOS turns into the swamp of Android that we did not pay our money to join. I think we should sue Epic and others for attempting to destroy the function of our collective purchases.
What’s ironic is you think Epic wouldn’t exist without Apple, and we all know that’s absurd 🙄

And then get themselves in trouble again 🙄 Great idea 🙄

To Apple:
There’s no need to rule the earth and universe through excess money. Just lower that freaking tax let’s say to 5%, and no one would go after you for a while. You’d still be the richest company in the world for many many years. We all can read the numbers you know.

I’m becoming really irritant with the company I used to love so much.

Jif Peanut Butter - $2.49
Kroger Peanut Butter - $1.00

So Kroger is taking advantage of their situation (THEIR store) and can sell their OWN peanut butter for less.

I don't think its fair for Spotify to say Apple charging less is wrong. It is just ridiculous for a competitor to complain that the other competitor about how much they charge for their product.
But it is not a level playing field and when it comes to consumer products, the law says you have to play fair. Apple do not have to pay any commission on IAP's (in app purchases) because it is their store but they force everyone else to by forcing them to use Apple's pay system which incurs a commission fee. Also consumers are not allowed to buy songs via an app because Apple does not allow app developers to allow web linking from their app to their website. Spotify are being told that because they use IAP's, they are obligated to use Apple's pay system with incurs a commission fee which is paid directly to Apple. For Spotify to maintain their profit margin, they have to factor in the commission fee into their pricing structure which means their songs are priced higher than that of Apples.

Apple has done everything it can to prevent app developers from using their own payment systems, either internally from an app or externally to a website and when people complain, Apple just throw the T&C's in their face.

If this practice was being done by a brick and mortar business, the FTC would have taken action but because everything is being done online, Apple thinks it's untouchable.

They’re not even CLOSE to ruling the Earth, though. Like, nowhere near. It could be argued that they’re not even trying to take over the world, because they’re not doing things that might increase their market share.

They’re ONLY ruling Apple devices. The number of Apple devices are quite literally dwarfed by non-Apple devices. It’s funny to me how there’s so much focus on a relatively tiny part of the computing market.

And then again, it may be ruled, Apple is within it's rights. It's no different than Costco not charging a shelving fee for Kirkland products.
