A Sunday morning dilemma: Do I make a pot - as in French Press - (Le Creuset - cerise, that is, a sort of raspberry, not the classic burnt volcanic orange) of freshly ground coffee, - which takes somewhat longer to prepare - or, do I satisfy my more immediate cravings with the use of a dripper?
In the time you took to ask us, you could have caffeinated yourself already!

Sad but true.

But I am not one for rapid movement - either mental or physical - before I have had the opportunity to partake of some coffee of a morning. Never did get the hang of this mad idea - rooted in masochism no doubt - of the 'working breakfast'. (What an abomination).

Some days, I long for those creatures who can read your mind and anticipate your (caffeine fuelled) desires. Not always met, alas.

Well, time to head for the kettle.....

House elves?

Ah, yes.

Head versus heart debate, not unknown to some of us with - shall we say - more progressive thoughts and perspectives on such matters.

While I deplore and disdain the very concept, I admit that I would greatly welcome the service they provide........not least, as I am reluctant to be the person designated by societal expectations to do it for myself.

Now, I really must put that damned kettle on.....

This afternoons effort.

Coffee, French roast, piping hot. Didn't last for very long at all, but that seems to be the norm for the morning or lunches coffee.

Agreed.

Morning or lunch coffees tend to be consumed quite rapidly; it is only when one is sipping coffee in company, or enjoying a relaxing post dinner cup of coffee that one can fully savour it.

First cup of coffee happily consumed...

Coffee. French Roast blend. Hot.

Yummy!

Glad you enjoyed it; for that matter, it is pretty funny on these threads to see how strong our individual preferences for a particular style of coffee actually are.

Anyway, that reminds me: I am off to make a cup - or mug - of Ethiopian coffee, nice and hot.

A horrible tragedy just occurred…

I had just made of beautiful cup of French Roast coffee. And I started to sneeze… really hard! Coffee went everywhere! On the carpet, on my clothes... everywhere!

And the worst part… the most horrible part… was that I lost a whole cup of delicious coffee after only having taken two sips.

Oh, the horror! Oh, the humanity!:mad:

This is terrible news. Spilled coffee. The loss of something so important like this is a tragedy and should be mourned.

Oh, I hope you're not coming down with something... that would be kind of sad I suppose.

Bless you, or gesundheit, as I think the Germans might say in such circumstances.

May I, too, offer my deepest condolences on what is clearly the heartfelt loss of a cup of coffee.

Agreed.

Your sympathy about my lost coffee is appreciated.

Your concern about my health is truly underwhelming.

But you clearly have your priorities right: Coffee matters more than health.......

This is why you need a wet-vac so that you can salvage your spilled coffee!

I know that I can always count on good friend @mobilehaathi for a remarkably brilliant suggestion.

Licking out the bag of the wet-vac to save the coffee is precisely how I will save my precious brew next time this horrid event occurs.

Thank you so much for your always remarkable suggestions. I bow before you!

Bumped into former representation from WME today at lunch. Chatted and caught up with each other. Was asked if I still wrote. Which I don't and haven't in years. Joked around about Trump winning if he did win. Could be a wonderful look into the unknown.

I don't like this rep very much because he was as you'd say an utter twit. I floated the idea of something very silly (or Hipster as younger generations would call it) and he loved it. Maybe I shouldn't be too quick to judge this person. Then again, I'm not known to give people second chances under the prior conditions.

Trump: La Tragedie Americaine

And butchering the French language at that. Oh, well, it was nice to be published in long defunct journals and whatnot. Like many in their youth, I too then dreamed of being a literary mogul. Instead I wormed my way into the financial field and struck... I'm not sure what the equivalent of black gold is in this form, but it would be that.

I did always want to do cook books revolving around light food (such as tapas) and drinks or cooking with coffee. I did have a close friend at one time who was well regarded on drinks books and believe got close to hitting the NYT bestseller list in those days. Coincidentally, he died of liver cirrhosis caused by alcohol and an unhealthy diet of rich foods.

Anyway, I'll shut up now as I've had some wine to get in the mood for tonight's lovely lasagna. I woke up early in the morning to prepare the dough and fix up the kids meals for the day so MiL didn't have to lift a finger. So far, knock on wood, they don't seem to like anything sweet aside from the occasional mashed fruit. Neither one liked the baked goods we've had. I was also spat on with mashed warm apple tart...

Anyway, again... I've had many cups of coffee and probably why I can't seem to focus on anything tonight. This election worries me, even if Clinton may have it in the bag. It's the fallout I'm worried about. I expect an increase in crime forming waves over the next few weeks.

I'm going to take a few days off from the site and hope that when I come back, some of our more vocal members of PRSI are relaxed. Though, I did find one post by a member there who's a supporter of Trump quite funny. Using the C word that neither I nor Sceptical understood because it meant something completely different prior to Trump's rabid fans. Instead of being some strange sexual fetish from ancient times, it became a stupid allegory. Rather odd, considering his countrymen a mere 30 years ago were C'd (according to their definition now) by a raging dictator who with his wife were swiftly executed.

Zenithal's Short and Sweet: Wine and too much coffee. Going off on tangents yet again. Will have a nice cappuccino dusted with cinnamon later on. They say cinnamon is good for the heart and my lasagna is very rich. I think a teaspoon of cinnamon will combat whatever bad things the lasagna will do.

Also, today's literature is veering on the stupid. There's more books about smut and whipping each other in bed than there was a mere decade ago. The literary world is run by children now.

Ouch. If it makes you feel any better, sometimes I forget I've got coffee and will schlep those large almost unending mugs causing the liquid to lurch out and fall to the ground. I haven't hit anyone yet with it. I did this without realized what I'd done the other night and came back later for another mug of coffee only to see coffee all over the floor. I must have tilted the mug and let it fall out while I was busy going through my phone. Unless there's a coffee hating ghost in our house. Sounds rather quaint.

Too much coffee today. One can never have too much!*

*Provided they don't have a heart condition.

Belated condolences for such a waste of coffee. There are fantastic grief counselling services available these days for such circumstances.

Meanwhile, down under, I am about to make the first mug of coffee for the day. French roast, hot and delectable.
