Congrats to Spain and their fans!

I have to admit, as a longtime German fan, that Germany scraped by in this tournament and it finally caught up with them against the better side.

Spain was definitely the better side on the night, though the opening half hour was very back and forth. The Germans were simply unable to break up Spain's attacks, which were fast and precise. They also didn't create enough chances for themselves. Spain were pretty wasteful but their constant pressure kept Germany on the back foot.

A good game though, much better than the Spain vs Italy quarterfinal.

Euro 2008 has been a great tournament overall, with some of the best football coming from unexpected places (Turkey, Russia), and established powers such as France, Italy and the Netherlands exiting early (not to mention England's conspicuous absence).

Torres only scored one goal in the tournament, but it could not have come at a better moment.

Glad to see Spain win. They clearly out played the germans today! I'm still depressed that Portugal lost to the germans, but at least my #3 team won (I was hoping for Turkey after Portugal went out).

Indeed – it wasn't half bad at all. One sour note though is the continued insistence of playing music after a goal is scored – it's something that's spreading more and more, and now finally it's made its way into an international tournament.

Sort it out, UEFA and FIFA types.

He actually scored against Sweden also.

Congrats to Spain, who paid great in the whole tournament.

Forgot about that...most teams had him so heavily marked he had little chance of seeing the back of the net.

I can't wait to see El Nino back in Liverpool when the Premier League season starts.

So this season is all about coming second for Michael Ballack... 2nd in Euro 2008, 2nd in the Champions League and 2nd in the Premiership

That's been a big story, but I can't fault Ballack for Chelsea's failure this season. If any players could be blamed, I would go after Terry or Drogba. But the real culprits are Kenyon, Abramovich and Grant.

Ballack didn't have a great game, though he had Germany's best chance of the match. But I think calling him a perennial also-ran is a bit harsh.

Man I totally had to miss today's game.. everyone I know was sure Germany would do it. Ha!
