That’s weird…
But that sounds a little more promising for my 2.28pm timestamp…😅🙈

Let’s all hope it’s just a glitch… and not that we are not on board that 5x11 to Cologne… crossing fingers again…😇
Regarding the updated 2 pm timestamp, it's interesting that Aftership still shows the "old" timestamp. Maybe it's a glitch in how UPS displays time?

Good morning Folks,

A visitor here from Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.

Thanks to @Jinjin I heard some bad news about mechanical failure (Fuselage accident) with the UPS Plane that was carrying your precious MacBook Pro. What a tragedy! This is crazy how it unfolded. MacRumors also posted an article about it this morning. I thought this was not real but come to find out this is reality and so many people were affected. I'm glad to see many of you were able to stick together and really find out what happened. :(

I'm so sorry If your MacBook Pro has been delayed but rest assured it is coming. I just wanted to stop by and send out some good wishes to ya'll. I was also able to catch up with this thread and saw many of you reporting a "Departure Scan"!!! So, Congratulations!! Just hang in there 🫂❤️

I kinda got accustomed to getting good morning and good night scenery photos from you in the US thread :) Don't we get one here?

Quite possible because it got changed 3 times for me (though only 12 AM and 2 PM is left). My tracking app on Android shows three timestamps as it stores every tracking entry locally even when UPS removes it on their webpage.

As Shanghai and Incheon have different time zones, it could also mess up time tracking. It got really complicated to follow the correct time with all these different time zones ?

I'm glad you enjoyed them.

Ahhh, It's over :( Hopefully, you will be joining for iPhone 14 + Apple Watch 8 Pre-ordering thread in September 2022. Trust me, they are 100x more thrilling.

You should get your own thread for pics hahaha. I love the US Southwest. Been too long since I got to visit, damn pandemic. Hopefully in spring I get to visit my friends in Arizona again.

Things are opening back up and International traveling is also happening soon. I did, LOL. It all started here. Amazing pictures are posted. It's a very good community we have in there.

It's all right here. Check out my most recent post below:

Same here, it says "coming soon" instead of giving a concrete date on the apple tracking page.

Thinking about my UPS delivery (now scheduled for tomorrow 29/10 between 11:00 and 15:00), it seems like there are no UPS flights tagged from Cologne to France.. I'm starting to think this estimate is a bit too optimistic still :(

Maybe you go by truck? Don’t know how long that would take…

Sadly, most of us in Ukraine can't afford this. I have a good job as a security officer for the local government which allows me to buy this stuff, but 6000 us dollars for 15 inch M1X is too much for us.
It is very expensive to some of us western europeans as well. Personally I've been saving for this a long time. If my old macbook pro wasn't in a bad condition and super old I would have skipped this because of the price.

Hum. A straight drive from UPS Köln Air Hub to the UPS center in my city is 11 hours and 45 minutes. Feasible, but I don't know if that's actually what they would do in this case :/

EDIT: So I'm really having trouble letting go of this haha. I noticed there's a Köln-Paris flight on Star Air at 2:20 AM, and apparently UPS has planes under contract at Star Air.. So an air+land or even air+air combo might be realistically feasible ^^

Warsaw. UPS tracking change date from 29/10 to 2/11. In App Store website no delivery time (iOS app 2/11). Transit from Seul. Mac will stay 3-4 days in Cologne?

That’s the weekend and then you might be hit by the holiday on Nov 1st… some regions in Germany have one on Monday…

Generally as the delay is approximately 24 hours, I'd say whatever your initial delivery prediction was, add one work day to it. Mine was Thursday, now it's Friday. Given that their shipping logistics needs to be calculated based on the same 24 hours rhythm, it is unlikely they can make that delay up. If their plane or truck would leave earlier, it would change working schedules and delay other packages that arrive on time while the plane or truck already left early.

Those MacBook Pros are really expensive and you can clearly see that Apple calculated them based on how long people keep their machines.

My upgrade was like this:
  • 13" MacBook Pro Mid 2009 (bought in 2009)
  • 15" MacBook Pro Mid 2012 (bought in 2012)
  • 15" MacBook Pro Mid 2015 (bought in 2016)
  • 14" MacBook Pro Mid 2021 (bought now)

While initially 3 years, I then used it for 4 years and now for 5 years. If that holds true, I probably have this machine for 5 or even 6 years now. € 3000 suddenly becomes less of an expense but it still is insane considering I could barely afford the Mid 2015 one for € 2400 back then.

For private consumers and not professional devices payed by a company, these prices are a though pill to swallow. And Apple feeds it into upselling and non-changeable parts. I would have bought the 14" MBP with an 8 core CPU, 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage. Now I bought the 14" MBP with a 10 core CPU, 32 GB RAM and 1 TB of storage for future-proofing.

I mostly use it for audio as I'm an audio engineer. 16 GB RAM is enough, once you load up huge sample libraries, the less RAM, the more likely your SSD is going to fail due to the required disk swap that offloads the RAM to the SSD (happens on the M1 machines with 8 GB of RAM). 1 TB since I have 150 GB left and given that I have a lot of work projects compared to when I was studying in 2016, I thought € 220 ist nothing compared to having to carry an external hard drive.

But one thing is for sure: I'm getting insurance on that thing. AppleCare+ only lasts a year for accidental damage and I need a theft protection. I can't afford to lose this device either physically or due to damage.

You sure about that? I just checked my AppleCare+ policy and it clearly states 2 cases of accidental dages per year during the term of the policy (3 years). This is in The Netherlands, not sure if that differs per country.

Same here... And my delivery (UK) shifted from Friday AM to Monday

Apple Store changed the estimate from "Arriving on 29th" to "Arriving soon". Did anyone else get this?

Edit: in the Apple Store app and UPS it's still 29.
I have the same.

My MBP is in the air now towards Cologne (after all this drama), but my delivery date was changed to Nov 2. (Monday 1st is holiday). But as it arrives this evening in Cologne I am confident to receive it tomorrow (in Luxembourg).
