They famously did it with Microsoft in the IE anti-trust case. The EU market is hugely valuable for Apple and the EU commission has huge clout over any corporation. This protects consumers and it's what differentiates what I believe to be a progressive society versus a purely capitalist one which only has the corporation and shareholders at heart.
I've said it many times before. Apple has one of the most magnificent marketing machines in the world and it's basically corporate propaganda to one end. Profit. Don't get me wrong, I love the products and I too am caught up, but Apple isn't the "white heavenly light" they make themselves out to be. They want one thing. Your money; And while they make a great product, they sometimes need a bit of a kick in the nuts to keep them in line.
